SoberNotMature - Episode 220 (Wet & Reckless Mothers)

This week we have...
Mike and Bill! Justin has been rescheduled for May 22nd and we had a chance to let loose tonight.
Mike started off with his reading and it was about our thoughts and when we should or should not reveal them. It's all about choices and consequences and we certainly make better choices these days. It was a good conversation.
It's Mother's Day weekend, so Happy Mother's Day to all of the sober mom's! For the rest of us, do something nice for your mom this weekend. She deserves it.
Then it was babysitting stories, what in the world is katom, medicating to get back to even and a quick note about Prince.
We wrapped up with Britney Spears getting Wet & Reckless. It's not as filthy as it sounds.
Enjoy the episode.

Bill
all right everyone welcome once again to another award nominated episode of sober mature look at that how look at how smooth that was come on i gotta give myself give myself some credit anyone anyone
00:00:08.50
Mike
Right. That was... Goose shit.
00:00:19.57
Bill
But yeah, I've got a little bit of an update. I mean, no, I mean, obviously very everyone out there, no, we haven't found out anything yet. the The voting is that, but the voting hasn't been tallied. We haven't been announced or anything like that. Nobody's been announced on this stuff, but the internet's chattering.
00:00:31.93
Bill
So I got a little bit of information on that. I can, I can get into that a little bit later, but.
00:00:35.48
Mike
Well, if it's on the internet, it must be true.
00:00:37.69
Bill
Yeah, it's ah it was just it's just kind of funny, but yeah, one way the other. We've got, again, we're we're sitting back waiting like everyone else, but, you know, it just, I don't know.
00:00:47.89
Bill
I thought about it. I'm like I'm going to open up with that because I haven't done it in a while. I kept forgetting, and like, I'm going to stumble all over myself. But, what you say, Gusha? Yeah, smooth.
00:00:56.95
Mike
Yes, smooth as goo shit.
00:00:57.21
Bill
Fucking Fucking smooth.
00:01:01.11
Mike
Yes.
00:01:01.46
Bill
So, um yeah, anyhow, we were supposed to have a guest on tonight, but Justin is not feeling well, and I'm going put my arm way, way up here.
00:01:06.26
Mike
We were. Mm-hmm.
00:01:11.18
Bill
Here's the weather.
00:01:12.15
Mike
Yeah.
00:01:12.47
Bill
And then put my arm way, way down here. The other one, Justin is, he's he's he's under the weather, but here's the cool thing.
00:01:14.83
Mike
Yep, he's under it. Yeah.
00:01:19.94
Bill
And Mike started, Mike and I started talking about it a little bit before we got on, but um he sent me a text. I don't know. I think it was before noon. was before I went to lunch today.
00:01:29.98
Mike
Mm hmm.
00:01:30.65
Bill
And, you know, I just said this, this and blah, blah, and I'm not really feeling well. And, um you know, I'm like, so first of all, he stepped up and let us know, i mean, way, way early, you know, which is, which is nice.
00:01:39.02
Mike
Mm hmm.
00:01:40.17
Bill
I mean, in general, um but if somebody is not feeling good, I'd rather for for their sake, just as much as for ours and everyone else's, there's, yeah this is, this is not, this is not that goddamn important.
00:01:40.70
Mike
Right.
00:01:48.37
Mike
Right.
00:01:50.87
Bill
You know, just, it just isn't, you know.
00:01:50.91
Mike
Mm hmm.
00:01:53.59
Bill
But so I thought that was nice. But then what I was telling Mike was that like, yeah, he wanted to. He's like, oh, well even if I don't feel good, I could do this and I could do that. I'm like, just dude, we're fine. We're okay.
00:02:02.90
Mike
Yes.
00:02:03.93
Bill
Let me just find out.
00:02:03.99
Mike
Yes. We will have a podcast and we'll have you on later.
00:02:07.03
Bill
Yeah, I said, let me just find out with Mike. I said, we don't anyone else. Anyone else book for the rest of the month? I don't think that we have anything planned, but let me just verify. So um we've got him. We've got Justin, Justin Kinney.
00:02:18.03
Bill
Take a look. We've been promoting him all week. We'll do it again in two weeks because he's going to be on on May 22nd. So two weeks from today.
00:02:24.25
Mike
Yes.
00:02:25.60
Bill
And yeah, it'll be a good conversation because once again, he's an author.
00:02:26.03
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:02:28.49
Mike
Yeah.
00:02:30.99
Bill
He is also a fellow Sober Curator, but his book just launched recently and he's been doing, um if if nobody else is, if you're listening and you follow us on Instagram, you know pop onto his page.
00:02:42.04
Bill
He's been doing a lot of, um it looks like reading different sections of his book. um I haven't had an opportunity to stop and listen to him. I figured, hey, you know i I try not to dig too much into people. I'd rather get their story while we talk to them, but Um, just so everyone knows, I mean, he's, it seems like he's promoting the shit out of his book, which he should and you know, all that stuff.
00:02:53.37
Mike
Sure.
00:02:58.89
Mike
Cool. Mm-hmm.
00:02:59.99
Bill
So, but, uh,
00:03:00.47
Mike
Right. Yeah. So we'll have, it'll be a Memorial Day weekend spectacular.
00:03:05.02
Bill
is that Memorial day? Really?
00:03:06.39
Mike
ten Maybe not. Maybe the next weekend. i don't know.
00:03:11.10
Bill
Well, you know, here here's his... Okay, so yeah I know we we've got... don't Don't worry, everyone. We're going to get to our reading. you know but i've got I've got a side note to the side note here. So when...
00:03:21.80
Bill
ah I mean, I don't even know. I don't know dates anymore. you know i mean, it's like, okay, sooner or later, I try to... As we get close to these long weekends...
00:03:27.90
Mike
It is Memorial Day weekend.
00:03:30.08
Bill
Oh, it is. Okay. So in a lot of times I take a look at that because if, if I have the ability or whatever, it's, it's kind of nice to go someplace on a memorial, like over the last couple of years, cause then I get an extra day of kicking around and do whatever.
00:03:37.35
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:03:39.89
Mike
Sure.
00:03:41.50
Bill
But so I hadn't really paid attention to it that much, but so last weekend, um, you know, I was at, I got a little bit, just a couple of things about the babysitting for the, for the grandkids last weekend, but this one was
00:03:41.93
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:03:52.06
Mike
You sat on babies? Mm-hmm.
00:03:53.62
Bill
I did. Sat on both of them. And they didn't they didn't cry when I sat on them. So it's all good.
00:03:57.59
Mike
Nice.
00:03:58.62
Bill
Okay. I was observing and taking care of my grandchildren.
00:04:01.78
Mike
Yes.
00:04:02.69
Bill
Better? Better? Okay.
00:04:04.38
Mike
No, I like sitting on them.
00:04:05.88
Bill
Okay, I was sitting down sitting on my kids, sitting on my grandkids.
00:04:06.52
Mike
Yeah. Yeah. Right.
00:04:10.65
Bill
But Kimmy was talking about something here back and forth. And then the you know Mother's Day came up. And I'm like, when is Mother's Day?
00:04:17.71
Mike
Uh-huh.
00:04:17.94
Bill
So this was like last Saturday or Sunday, either when she got home Saturday night or Sunday.
00:04:20.17
Mike
Right.
00:04:21.66
Bill
And she's like, next weekend. I'm like, God, I'm like, I didn' i i didn't even pay attention. Because I'm like, well, first of all, I'm like, you know, I mean, my mom's dead.
00:04:25.56
Mike
Right.
00:04:28.57
Bill
So I don't have to worry about that.
00:04:28.89
Mike
Right.
00:04:30.02
Bill
And Kimmy's like, ooh, that's morbid but true.
00:04:31.96
Mike
he
00:04:32.49
Bill
And I'm like, I don't, it's not like I have a wife that I really have to take care of.
00:04:35.51
Mike
right
00:04:35.97
Bill
And I, I shoot a text to people here and there. I can say a happy mother's day.
00:04:38.59
Mike
Eh, eh, sure.
00:04:39.01
Bill
If I see people, you know, we'll post stuff on here and, you know, to, to all our sober ladies that listen to us and whatever. But I'm like, I didn't, I didn't even know. Um, that it was this weekend, but now that I mentioned it, uh, so happy mother's day to all of the moms out there.
00:04:48.56
Mike
Yeah.
00:04:55.30
Bill
And if, uh, if, even if you are not a mom, if your mom is now back in your life and you treated her like absolute fucking garbage for years, um, you know, cause you were ah a raging alcoholic or a drug addict or just ah an overall dick of a human being.
00:05:02.85
Mike
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
00:05:08.61
Bill
Cause we all were right.
00:05:08.88
Mike
Mm-hmm. Sure.
00:05:10.52
Bill
Do something nice.
00:05:10.68
Mike
Yes.
00:05:11.36
Bill
Do something nice for this weekend.
00:05:12.73
Mike
Right.
00:05:14.01
Bill
Yeah. and tell everyone you did it not like mike says this you could tell everyone it's okay to tell everyone you did something nice for your mom okay all right so um i've got i've got other stuff i get i got stuff ah yeah one where the other and it was kind of funny last thing with justin he said uh because i don't want to oh he said do you guys have a backup plan and i i didn't even answer that question because i'm like i'm like we always have a backup plan we always think
00:05:17.04
Mike
guess. Mm-hmm.
00:05:20.15
Mike
i guess
00:05:33.40
Mike
will Well, yeah, it's the same as the front-up plan.
00:05:39.70
Bill
yeah
00:05:40.11
Mike
We have no plan.
00:05:40.74
Bill
right Right. But the thing of it is, is, I mean, the first the first time I think somebody wasn't ready for us on the recording standpoint, I had still printed off, you know, things.
00:05:51.14
Bill
So we had stuff to talk about, but we weren't we weren't prepared.
00:05:52.50
Mike
Right.
00:05:53.90
Bill
We were a little bit. I don't want to say like taken taken completely aback, but a little bit, you know.
00:05:58.47
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:05:59.08
Bill
um
00:05:59.07
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:06:00.47
Bill
But I mean, now I print the sheets every time. The worst thing you got to do is get your get your ass up and grab your book. You know, and other than that, we're like somebody somebody's audio didn't work.
00:06:05.24
Mike
Right.
00:06:08.83
Bill
So I guess we're we're it's us.
00:06:09.91
Mike
guess it's just us. y Yeah.
00:06:11.77
Bill
Yeah. So that's our our backup plan. we're We're always expecting that something's not to work out. We're going to have to make make up for it. So that's our Justin. If you happen to listen to this, that's our backup plan. So.
00:06:21.98
Mike
Right. Exactly.
00:06:22.96
Bill
Yeah.
00:06:23.10
Mike
It's the same as our upfront plan. No plan at all.
00:06:25.66
Bill
Exactly. I like that. I like that even better to begin with. So yes, yes, absolutely.
00:06:29.81
Mike
Yeah.
00:06:29.90
Bill
So part of our upfront, no plan, but semi-structure thing, we do a reading every week, I believe, that people have gotten used to.
00:06:36.21
Mike
Yes.
00:06:39.17
Bill
I think I have too. I kind of like it.
00:06:40.47
Mike
right. Yeah. so so I'm glad somebody got used to it.
00:06:43.38
Bill
yeah we've been We've been doing it now for, I mean, it's been, I'd like to look back at some point. This has to be two years, three years. i don't know.
00:06:51.03
Mike
I would.
00:06:51.14
Bill
It feels like a lot.
00:06:51.75
Mike
Yeah, pump probably two.
00:06:54.17
Bill
Yeah, it might even be, I don't know, you brought it up.
00:06:54.42
Mike
you know.
00:06:56.13
Bill
It seems like you brought it up a long time ago.
00:06:58.39
Mike
yeah
00:06:59.61
Bill
You know, but in, and I mean that in a really, really good way because i it's been, I think it's a, it's a great way, just like ah it's a great way. to We say this all the time. It's a wonderful way to start our day. And we do that.
00:07:08.70
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:07:09.21
Bill
This is a wonderful way to start an episode. And, you know, like I say, every once in a while, we only had one, what was that?
00:07:12.00
Mike
Sure.
00:07:16.05
Bill
A handful of months ago, we had that one shitter one that we just made fun of for, i don't know, five or five, five or 10 minutes, but you know, we get
00:07:17.28
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right. he Yep. That was the spinning of the wheel. I just flipped the pages and opened it up and pointed and read it and it wasn't all that great.
00:07:30.26
Bill
Yeah, well I know when you glance at you're like, ah okay, well, I guess we're doing this one.
00:07:30.74
Mike
Yeah. Yeah.
00:07:34.82
Bill
And I'm like, it can't be that bad. It wasn't, well, it kind of was. It kind of was.
00:07:39.08
Mike
whatever right anyway so this one's okay uh and by the way i was uh yes i i'm a little tired it was a long week it was lot of goofy stuff at work it doesn't matter but i was uh really sort of looking forward to sitting back and not doing any heavy lifting tonight But hey, you know, that's what I get for making plans, right?
00:07:39.90
Bill
a All right. All right.
00:07:58.49
Bill
ah yeah
00:08:03.58
Mike
So here we go.
00:08:03.74
Bill
Right.
00:08:04.40
Mike
This was May 2nd. Oh, it's from Touchstones. Yes. And May 2nd. And here we go.
00:08:15.64
Mike
do not reveal your thoughts to everyone, lest you drive away your good luck. from Apocrypha Ecclesiasticus. um Apparently, I did do a little search because I was all, what the hell is that?
00:08:30.12
Mike
And um apparently, it's like this ah Jewish writing, biblical stuff that didn't make the cut in the Bible. what yeah yeah yeah Exactly, right.
00:08:38.90
Bill
okay
00:08:40.82
Mike
you know So like like the rest of it, it's made up, but... Right. Right.
00:08:46.65
Bill
how How'd you like to be that guy? ah By the way, you didn't make the cut in the Bible.
00:08:48.92
Mike
right I know. Your nonsense doesn't fit in with our nonsense.
00:08:54.97
Bill
Okay, yeah. yeah yeah Your nonsense just isn't good enough.
00:08:58.23
Mike
Um, right.
00:09:00.69
Bill
got to mute.
00:09:02.34
Mike
Makes too much damn sense.
00:09:03.80
Bill
ah
00:09:04.62
Mike
We can't put it in this book.
00:09:05.05
Bill
ah ah
00:09:07.10
Mike
Um, yes, yes, I did.
00:09:08.18
Bill
ah yeah i get a mute guys
00:09:11.29
Mike
I just need to move on with the reading. All right. So, um, Let's see. we've had problems in our lives with limits we have done some things to excess and others we have endlessly postponed sometimes we haven't had good judgment about what we ought to tell someone or whom we ought to tell we may have kept secrets that made us lonely and sick other times we expose too much in inappropriate situations and hurt someone else or ourselves
00:09:46.04
Mike
Developing these internal limits is a quiet change that comes with recovery. Gradually, we gain a stronger feeling of self-respect and become more intuitive about when to express something and when not to.
00:10:02.70
Mike
Secrets are links in our chains of bondage to isolation, addiction, and codependency. Yet, when we are compelled to tell everything, we lack the feeling of self-containment that comes from maturity.
00:10:17.66
Mike
We need a sense of privacy, which is the freedom to choose what and when we confide to a friend. What does our intuition tell us today about our privacy and our openness?
00:10:31.00
Mike
The Touchstones tidbit of the day. sure why not? Today, i will listen to my inner messages about what I need to discuss with others and when I need to withhold.
00:10:44.76
Bill
All right. So I laughed when you said tidbit, by the way. You're like, yeah yeah, let's go with that.
00:10:47.54
Mike
a Good. I thought you might.
00:10:52.56
Mike
Okay.
00:10:53.30
Bill
um Okay. So listen to your inner inner messages. And what was he was he on the other part of it?
00:10:59.29
Mike
ah The last one is I listen to my inner messages about what I need to discuss with others and when I need to withhold.
00:11:07.98
Bill
All right. So, I mean, I think we can, well, I guess I'm not assume, but I think the difference between prior to sobriety and now in sobriety and actually having some, you know, little bit of time under our, under our belts that, that the, the inner messages and the time when to, to share and not to share and what it not, not to share sort of thing.
00:11:19.64
Mike
Right.
00:11:28.23
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:11:28.68
Bill
There's a huge difference between the two, but what do you, what do you think about that between, you know, back then and now between that, you know, how your, how your setup is and how you, what you share and that sort of thing.
00:11:30.62
Mike
who
00:11:37.62
Mike
Exactly. Well, this may shock you, but it's pretty much the inverse of what it used to be. Yeah,
00:11:44.02
Bill
Wait, wait, wait, really? hey
00:11:47.10
Mike
pretty much right. Yeah, I would share a bunch of crap that nobody needs to fucking hear, even though it was truth and whatever and blah, blah, blah. um And the stuff that I needed to, um you know, those dirty secrets and all that stuff, I kept to myself.
00:12:03.70
Bill
Right.
00:12:03.80
Mike
Right. And, um you know, today it's it's the opposite. i You know, I share stuff that I need to. and um But I also know when to keep my fucking mouth shut. And, you know, I don't have to tell everybody everything because ah nobody cares.
00:12:21.40
Bill
Right, right. I mean, that that's kind of funny when you when you had said that. The reason I laughed and, you know, kind of sarcastically said really is that, I mean, there's there's probably not too many things. Well, maybe there are in the sobriety sort of thing.
00:12:32.39
Bill
I was going to say there's not too many things in life where you could just say that it's the literally, you know, the flipped it around. And this is where I was versus, you know, the 80-20 type of thing maybe is now now the 80 percent is on this side versus that side, blah, blah, blah.
00:12:38.58
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:12:42.33
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.
00:12:45.40
Bill
Which I mean, but that's perfect because, yeah, I mean, and we talked about that before. You know, we joke about the fact of, you know, does does my ass look fat these jeans?
00:12:50.44
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right. Mm-hmm.
00:12:56.00
Bill
Hey, you know, no you look lovely, dear. You know, you look look you look lovely or whatever the case is, whoever it is.
00:12:58.39
Mike
right
00:13:01.49
Bill
you know but um But more so is, yeah, the things that that were, again, bothering us, hurting us, literally tearing us apart that we never talked about.
00:13:09.15
Mike
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
00:13:12.66
Mike
Right.
00:13:12.97
Bill
um And then, you know obviously, just going off and you know all this nonsense and bullshit. And like you said, I mean, you you made a good point.
00:13:17.43
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:13:19.45
Bill
You said maybe it was factual or or it was factual. And it wasn't as though you were lying, but it didn't necessarily, well, two things, didn't necessarily need to be said.
00:13:22.69
Mike
Yeah.
00:13:25.98
Mike
Right. Uh-huh.
00:13:28.78
Bill
And also, as you said, Nobody fucking cares, you know, and nobody really nobody nobody fucking cares.
00:13:31.74
Mike
Right.
00:13:34.77
Bill
But yeah, I mean, what a what a great way to to look at that. I mean, literally inversely what it was before. And I don't think I've ever thought about something like that before.
00:13:40.59
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:13:42.73
Bill
But yeah, but these days in it is it's the and you know, when everything we've talked about with apologizing to. I mean, what a great gift to not have to share everything, not have to share all of our thoughts, all of our feelings, all of our, um you know, ideas and stuff like that.
00:13:54.71
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.
00:13:59.91
Bill
Because some of it, like you said, I mean, it's, ah again, a great point that people don't care. It's nonsense.
00:14:04.44
Mike
Yes.
00:14:04.92
Bill
But on top of that, it's just that, you know, is, are these things necessary to the point of a conversation or or even even worse?
00:14:05.45
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:14:13.20
Bill
I mean, are we going to hurt somebody? we to say something hurtful?
00:14:15.86
Mike
Right.
00:14:16.52
Bill
Which I think there's a pretty goddamn good chance that if we're If we're acting that way in the way we used to be, we probably are going to hurt somebody, right?
00:14:22.84
Mike
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:14:23.80
Bill
but
00:14:24.86
Mike
Odds are in favor that that's going to happen. Absolutely. Yeah.
00:14:29.27
Bill
Right. But, um, so the other thing with, um, with that part of it too, it's like right before that, it talked about, um, intuition. Okay. And i do you, i don't want to say, i don't know this is right way to put it.
00:14:38.45
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:14:43.00
Bill
i was going to say, do you believe in intuition? Um, I mean, it's, it's kind of a, I don't know. I mean, how do you feel about intuition? The, the, the concept of it, the feeling of it.
00:14:53.57
Bill
I mean, I guess, do you believe in intuition?
00:14:55.90
Mike
I mean, yeah, you know, not, not clearly not in the magical sense of it. Uh, but yeah, but I mean, yeah, gut feeling, you know, um, you know, we know the difference between right and wrong and that comes from that gut feeling.
00:15:01.88
Bill
Right. Right.
00:15:11.59
Mike
Um, so sure. You can call it intuition. You can call it whatever. Um, Just knowing, yeah, you know, we we we can feel whatever, you know, again, feelings.
00:15:22.78
Mike
ha But, um you know, we can feel if something's right or something's wrong.
00:15:23.80
Bill
hey
00:15:27.22
Mike
and um And that comes from the work that we've put in and the time that we've put in and all that. um Absolutely. You know, that balance that we have now, um we can actually sort of trust ourselves.
00:15:40.82
Mike
You know, a little bit. I mean, certainly not completely, but we can trust that that that feeling that we have of whether something should be happening or shouldn't.
00:15:44.73
Bill
Right.
00:15:52.89
Bill
Right. Yeah. You know, I, and I've never, um, it's a good point, but I've never, just never thought about that is intuition that, that gut feeling sort of thing, but it is, I guess if you, if you want to put whatever word you put on, it's the same goddamn thing, I guess.
00:15:59.72
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:16:03.10
Mike
Sure.
00:16:03.94
Bill
But, you know, it's the same thing as like I've said that, um, uh, you know, i go back to, you know, when at the end of Derek's, uh, football season, the one time where it was the, uh, you know, the get together in the bar.
00:16:04.06
Mike
Right.
00:16:15.16
Bill
And as it turned out, you know, kids are outside and, um, Dawn had to take off and I'm just sitting there in the middle of a bar, you know, I mean, I'm drinking soda and it, I wasn't, you know, I wasn't, I wasn't in a bad way and I wasn't triggered, but it was just one of those things where I had that feeling that I'm like, I don't belong here.
00:16:15.85
Mike
Right.
00:16:22.44
Mike
Sure.
00:16:26.54
Mike
Sure.
00:16:32.15
Mike
Yeah, it's time to leave.
00:16:32.81
Bill
And it just, yeah, it just came in It literally just, right.
00:16:34.62
Mike
I got nothing else to do here. That's, that's any good.
00:16:36.65
Bill
Right.
00:16:37.86
Mike
Right. Yeah.
00:16:38.71
Bill
Right.
00:16:38.82
Mike
So yeah. Right. If I continue to sit here, it's, it's not gonna, why, why I have, I have nothing left to do here. So it's time to go.
00:16:48.38
Bill
Yeah, and it it was weird because it did. It just, I mean, just immediately, it almost instantaneously came came on me. Or when, you know, when I'm doing something and not not wanting to force something or not wanting to, you know, go someplace or do something and not trying to blow something off, but but there is, there's that that gut feeling or intuition, whatever you want to call it, which, you know, to, to your exact point, I mean, is it, um, is it intuition?
00:17:07.11
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:17:11.14
Bill
Like you said, not necessarily in a magical thing, but you know, is it just the experience that we've had life experience plus sober experience to realize that, you know, all these different things, I mean, all these things are in our heads.
00:17:16.19
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:17:18.73
Mike
Right.
00:17:22.12
Bill
I don't remember every page of the goddamn big book, but you know, when things are brought up or I recite some things every once in a while, or, you know, I say something, it's like, where did that even come from?
00:17:22.78
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:17:28.22
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:17:30.44
Bill
It's like, well, that was in It's in the big book or it's in the 12 and 12 or it's in I'll run across it in one of the readings that that I go through that I read, you know, a year ago and it never clicked.
00:17:33.50
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.
00:17:38.60
Mike
Sure.
00:17:38.90
Bill
And all sudden I'm like, well, Jesus Christ, I say that all the time, you know.
00:17:43.99
Bill
But I mean, right.
00:17:44.18
Mike
That's where that came from.
00:17:46.53
Bill
But so, yeah, all of these things are are are embedded in it. So, yeah, whatever whatever you want to whatever you want to call it. So um I've got a lot of different things I wrote down again.
00:17:57.91
Bill
It is crazy to me. I just write frantically when we're doing these things.
00:18:00.08
Mike
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
00:18:00.79
Bill
but So the the first thing I wrote down was that, the guy the guy with the good luck, the or the getting kicked out of the Bible.
00:18:08.66
Mike
Right.
00:18:08.91
Bill
It still makes me giggle.
00:18:10.29
Mike
Didn't make the cut.
00:18:10.43
Bill
But yeah, exactly. um But it said it was something in there about driving away good luck. Okay. So um And I think that is, you know, if if nothing else, something to stop on for a minute, because, um I mean, do you think that?
00:18:17.50
Mike
Yeah.
00:18:22.79
Mike
Mm hmm.
00:18:26.78
Bill
OK, well, I guess maybe we got to step back on a bigger on a bigger scale here. Do you think we does luck just happen? Do we make our own luck? So that really comes down to the point of can we drive away good luck?
00:18:34.54
Mike
Hmm.
00:18:37.42
Bill
How do you feel about that?
00:18:37.54
Mike
Sure.
00:18:38.70
Bill
I mean, do we do we make our own luck, which would then lead to that?
00:18:42.01
Mike
Well, yeah, I mean, yes. Again, back to the nothing magical part. um Yeah, you know, luck. It just lucked into it. No, it's its it all comes down to choices and consequences, right?
00:18:55.69
Mike
It's the choices we make and then yeah in the consequences of those choices. That's that's the luck, you know? yeah you could Yeah, making your own luck, putting yourself in the right situation to receive something good or bad or whatever.
00:19:02.32
Bill
Right.
00:19:10.27
Mike
Um, yeah, you know, yeah absolutely. Yes. We make our own luck. There is no luck forced foisted upon us. Um, Yeah, and I mean, the whole quote is, you know, don't reveal your thoughts to everyone or you'll drive away your luck, your good luck.
00:19:26.07
Bill
Right.
00:19:26.42
Mike
Yeah, you know, yeah, that's just it, you know, spouting off and, you know, and trust me, revealing my thoughts.
00:19:26.83
Bill
Right.
00:19:33.69
Mike
We've had plenty of discussions about our thoughts. um there's There's still all kinds of fucked up.
00:19:36.74
Bill
Right.
00:19:39.37
Mike
And if I'm revealing those to everyone, yeah, you bet your ass I'm going to drive away my good luck.
00:19:39.61
Bill
right
00:19:45.85
Mike
Oh, fuck. Don't go anywhere near him. He's got all kinds of nonsense in his head.
00:19:52.22
Bill
Right. Yeah. And that was just, um yeah you know, again, I was just trying to think about that, that, and that's a, I don't necessarily, ble well, I don't know. I don't know if I really believe in, in luck. I think that like you just said, you know, choices and consequences, doing the work to put ourselves in, in, in luck on either, at either side of things, you know, good luck or bad luck or, or whatever, you know, he's, he's just a, he's been on an, on an unlucky streak or he's had a string of bad luck and blah, blah, blah.
00:20:03.75
Mike
hmm. Right. Mm hmm. Right.
00:20:16.50
Mike
Right, right. Did we? Sure.
00:20:18.23
Bill
Well, has he, has he really, you know, he's just sitting there,
00:20:18.36
Mike
Oh, yeah. Uh-huh. Right. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Hey.
00:20:22.33
Bill
Yeah. we're We're just sitting there minding our own business, being really good human beings.
00:20:25.59
Mike
sure oh yeah
00:20:27.09
Bill
And, you know, everyone's like shitting on us and just fucking with us.
00:20:29.43
Mike
aha right
00:20:31.14
Bill
Doubtful. Very, very doubtful.
00:20:32.09
Mike
easy
00:20:32.42
Bill
But but then surprisingly enough, when we start doing all these all these good things or, you know, we're on on the right path again, the path that we've been taught and, you know, so freely given.
00:20:39.58
Mike
who
00:20:42.05
Bill
Then, you know, surprisingly, hey, hey all these all these good things start to happen.
00:20:44.34
Mike
great
00:20:47.27
Bill
Oh, wow.
00:20:47.38
Mike
Yes.
00:20:47.89
Bill
Look at that. My luck has changed.
00:20:49.88
Mike
yeah
00:20:50.17
Bill
No, you dumb dick.
00:20:52.44
Mike
No, your actions changed.
00:20:53.62
Bill
Exactly. Yeah.
00:20:55.24
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:20:55.78
Bill
You changed your mindset by by the work that you've done and then your actions changed. And and guess what?
00:21:00.18
Mike
Well.
00:21:01.06
Bill
you know the The whole do good, get good type of thing. you know And I did write down the expose too much.
00:21:03.72
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:21:06.74
Bill
And that goes back to that that first line. um
00:21:09.22
Mike
Right.
00:21:10.33
Bill
But um you know I wrote down secrets, lonely and sick. I don't know what that, I don't know what line was that unless our secrets keep us lonely and sick.
00:21:15.83
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:21:19.64
Mike
Yeah, well, yeah, yeah. Secrets are links in our chains of bondage to isolation, addiction, and codependency. Yeah, you know, so, yes, he you know.
00:21:30.57
Mike
ah Oh, yeah, that was, ah we may have kept secrets that made us lonely and sick. Yeah.
00:21:36.18
Bill
So that was probably like three lines down this time.
00:21:36.79
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:21:38.70
Bill
By the time I got caught up with writing bunch of other shit down.
00:21:38.99
Mike
Right. sir Right.
00:21:43.61
Bill
So um it was secrets that made us lonely and sick.
00:21:46.65
Mike
Yes. We may have had secrets that kept us lonely and sick.
00:21:47.48
Bill
Okay.
00:21:50.29
Mike
Other times we exposed too much in inappropriate situations and hurt someone else or ourselves.
00:21:57.18
Bill
Okay. Yeah. And I wrote down exposed too much after that. See these bits and pieces of things I write down, they all, they all kind of c culminate together when, uh, you know, obviously when you read the whole sentences back.
00:22:00.10
Mike
Yeah. Mm-hmm.
00:22:07.34
Bill
Um, but yeah, so, I mean, you know, keeping secrets and, you know, obviously the, uh, that that's one of the number one, i don't want to say cliches. Maybe it is considered a cliche. I mean, we're only as sick as our secrets. Is that considered a, a cliche?
00:22:17.53
Mike
Sure.
00:22:19.28
Bill
So, I mean, that's, I, I mean, what else do we want to call it?
00:22:19.54
Mike
I'll consider it one. Sure.
00:22:23.29
Bill
Right. I mean, this it kind of it kind of is what it is.
00:22:23.81
Mike
Yeah.
00:22:25.65
Bill
But but then, yeah, same thing back to exposing too much.
00:22:26.17
Mike
Right.
00:22:28.73
Bill
You know, I mean, there there's only so much that well, exposing too much. Also, it just popped into my head. and That comes down to trust. I mean, I'm not going to sit there and, you know, tell if I don't trust somebody, I'm not going to lay out my, you know, my whole life to that person.
00:22:41.61
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right. Mm-hmm.
00:22:44.82
Bill
Um, you know, i want to make sure that, uh, that this person is number one, trustworthy. They're not out to, you know, mean, physically hurt me, but I suppose, you know, but they're not out to, um, you know, do me harm in any way, shape or form, you know, whether it be.
00:22:51.46
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:22:54.52
Mike
Yeah. Take advantage of you for, yeah, sharing the secrets. and Yeah, right.
00:22:59.32
Bill
Right.
00:22:59.84
Mike
Exactly. Exactly. but And, I mean, you know and, again, it comes back to, you know, people don't really fucking care. You know, I mean, a lot of it, i think a lot of the overexposure stuff comes from ego.
00:23:07.37
Bill
Right.
00:23:13.28
Mike
You know, people think that, right?
00:23:13.88
Bill
Right.
00:23:15.32
Mike
what they have to say is so important and everybody does care what what they think and what happened to them and and how how their life is going and blah blah blah you know shut up man nobody cares you know ah right you know stop boring people with your nonsense and just you know maybe shut up and listen to their nonsense for a minute you know and not really care about that either but at least allow them to yeah right you know and i think i'm in okay so it's gonna bring me to my favorite line in this which is developing these internal limits is a quiet change that comes with recovery and that's just it you know these the internal filters the knowing You know, it comes back to the intuition or whatever, knowing, you know, when to share something, when not to share something, when it's appropriate, when it's going to be helpful to you, when it's not going to be helpful to you.
00:23:28.18
Bill
yeah Right. Right.
00:24:12.66
Mike
um It all comes from the the maturity of doing this thing for a while. Um,
00:24:17.67
Bill
Right.
00:24:18.17
Mike
Yeah. You know, and i'm I'm grateful for that, that we have those internal filters and, and, and, and just knowing, you know, okay, shit. Yeah. I do need to share this cause it's fucking me up or i don't need to share this. Nobody wants to know. Yeah. And it's not going to do me any good either, you know, other than to maybe stroke my ego for a minute, you know, make me feel good that I'm sharing this with you. Yeah. So what?
00:24:48.12
Bill
Well, and you know, and and sometimes too, that, and you and I have had a number of conversations over the years that, you know, that, and know, something's eaten, you know, eaten in one of us.
00:24:58.30
Bill
And it's just a matter of, you know, and we've talked about this several times, neither one of us necessarily, well, and you and I know each other well enough, if we're,
00:24:58.49
Mike
me
00:25:06.52
Bill
I can come to you and say, okay, I just, I just need to tell you something, you know, and usually, you know, that all you need to do is sit there with those big old ears and the side of your fucking big old head and just look at me stupid.
00:25:10.26
Mike
Right.
00:25:18.70
Bill
If you want, or don't look at me at all.
00:25:19.46
Mike
Right.
00:25:20.10
Bill
I'll give a fuck.
00:25:20.41
Mike
Right.
00:25:20.86
Bill
You know, I just need to get this out and it at least pretend that you might be listening.
00:25:21.02
Mike
Right. okay
00:25:25.72
Bill
And, you know, quite honestly, it doesn't matter if you are or not.
00:25:25.85
Mike
Right.
00:25:28.28
Mike
Right.
00:25:28.64
Bill
I'm not, I just basically told you that I don't need an opinion. I'm not looking for a solution.
00:25:32.44
Mike
who
00:25:33.36
Bill
If you want to give me an opinion or a solution, it's probably not going to affect me. It's going to hurt me.
00:25:37.50
Mike
Right.
00:25:37.68
Bill
I'm not going to yell at you, but like, hey don't, you know, but just making it clear that that's not what I'm doing.
00:25:39.45
Mike
Yeah, right. Yeah, right.
00:25:42.13
Bill
But, but if I really needed your guidance, I'm I would tell you that, you know, I would say, you know, I I'm really fucked up about this.
00:25:47.77
Mike
yeah right
00:25:50.98
Bill
I don't know what to do. um Help me, you know, to tell me, give me your honest opinion on um is this nuts?
00:25:54.01
Mike
yeah right
00:25:57.01
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:25:58.42
Bill
Am I nuts? What do I do? What's my next step? Whatever the thing is, um you know, I whatever the thing is, you know, and but I'm very clear about that.
00:26:00.66
Mike
Yeah. Yeah.
00:26:04.28
Mike
Exactly.
00:26:05.91
Bill
And that in itself. mean, shit, before I got sober, I mean, if I had something on my mind, and you you see it on TV shows, you see it on movies, and I see it with people. You know, people, you know, kind of just tiptoe around these kind of things until somebody's like, what's the matter?
00:26:19.10
Bill
Can I help you? Blah, blah, blah. You know, until they're until somebody invites you into their space.
00:26:20.69
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:26:24.02
Bill
Well, okay, I get that.
00:26:24.22
Mike
Right.
00:26:26.22
Bill
If you need to wait for somebody to invite you into whatever space they have, you're talking to the wrong goddamn person. You know, that I mean, that's my opinion.
00:26:32.82
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.
00:26:34.70
Bill
Because, I mean, two things. I know that you would, you know, if you thought that I was really, i don't know, bottled up with something and I didn't know how to say it.
00:26:43.06
Mike
Right.
00:26:43.78
Bill
I know for a fact, I don't even have to guess.
00:26:44.18
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:26:45.94
Bill
You would be like, well, dude, what's up? What the fuck is wrong?
00:26:48.09
Mike
Yeah.
00:26:48.42
Bill
You know, tell me, I will help you. You know, i sure as fuck won't judge you type of thing.
00:26:51.35
Mike
Yes. Right.
00:26:54.26
Bill
You know, but on top of that, so I know you would, but on top of that, I mean, I'm not going to be afraid of talking to you because again, if you're, if you're afraid of somebody allowing you into their space, so that's again, my opinion, I think you're, I think you're dealing with the wrong person.
00:26:54.51
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:27:06.47
Mike
yeah yeah absolutely yeah yeah why are you bothering in the first place if it's yeah exactly and and again it it it comes down to like the reading said you know the balance and the maturity and the and the knowing which is which you know and it's um it's Again, the freedom of knowing when and where and why and how.
00:27:12.89
Bill
Right.
00:27:30.62
Mike
Absolutely. you know not Not that we have all the answers and we got it all figured out or anything, but there is that certain that that internal instinct, gut feeling, whatever the fuck you want to call it, um that we have now from doing all this work.
00:27:31.48
Bill
right
00:27:45.18
Mike
we've We've got... a certain balance a certain center in ourselves and we know we know where we stand and we know we if something's fucking with us and and how to deal with it and if and also if it's you know something's just annoying us and so get the fuck over it we have we have that power within us now to make that choice to differentiate between this is a serious thing or i'm just fucking irritated
00:28:10.74
Bill
Right. Right.
00:28:14.94
Mike
Yeah, which is nice.
00:28:16.95
Bill
Right. Yeah. I mean, yeah. Being able to, I mean, and and again, not having to, to react and certainly not having to, I guess not even having to react rather not even thinking about overreacting, but just realizing that we don't, we know not all the time, but you know, for the better majority of the time, we know that when we don't even have to react to something, it's maybe internally, internally we do, you know, for a minute, but,
00:28:27.84
Mike
hmm. Mm
00:28:32.26
Mike
hmm.
00:28:38.81
Mike
Exactly. Sure. Yeah, right. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. i mean, we're we're not we're not the slaves to our feelings like that anymore and our emotions and whatever.
00:28:50.28
Bill
Right.
00:28:51.62
Mike
We can we can kind of tell the difference between a fleeting whatever flooding around in our head and an actual fucking problem.
00:29:01.44
Bill
Right. You know, it's funny. And I don't know. I don't know if this even at least it just made me think of it when um Heather did that. Sent me a bunch of questions. it Did that article about the modern day hobo stuff, which it turned out.
00:29:13.86
Bill
I mean, I think it she did a really nice job. She puts she puts a lot of fucking effort. So it just um in one episode was Heather now. It was so she was 216. That's right. The Cleveland episode. So for anyone who who didn't listen to our friend Heather from Cleveland, it is it's a few episodes back.
00:29:23.77
Mike
Right.
00:29:29.92
Bill
It's episode two, one, six. And um just in general, she's a good shit, but she's doing some things with, ah you know, trying to build a life and all sorts of things. But she works very, very hard on every every quarter of her life.
00:29:42.86
Bill
And and I respect that.
00:29:43.18
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.
00:29:44.99
Bill
I really, really do, because I don't work that hard at at those at those things, you know.
00:29:47.32
Mike
Yeah, no shit. Me neither. Mm-hmm.
00:29:51.19
Bill
I mean, there's there's things that I focus on and I get driven, but man, I just, ah I look at, I look at people like her and I look at other people that are doing really, really good things and they're, they're really working hard.
00:29:58.62
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:30:01.02
Mike
Right.
00:30:02.07
Bill
And I'm like, God, God damn, you know, but she, so she put together and it was a lot.
00:30:03.16
Mike
Good on you. Right.
00:30:08.38
Bill
It was as I'm going through the questions and like halfway through it was a lot, you know, and I'm like, i didn't even want to look at how many were left.
00:30:12.98
Mike
Uh-huh.
00:30:14.58
Bill
Cause I'm like, I'm going to get mad and i I'm not.
00:30:14.94
Mike
Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Right. Right.
00:30:17.56
Bill
And then, then I felt bad, you know, Because I'm like, I'm just going to take a few minutes before.
00:30:19.46
Mike
ahha
00:30:22.24
Bill
And I did it it. Part of it was was my fault because i I was kicking around on the weekend. She sent it to me like on Saturday and it was a nice weekend.
00:30:28.92
Mike
you
00:30:29.60
Bill
So I was out running around doing whatever.
00:30:30.33
Mike
if he see
00:30:31.52
Bill
And I didn't take the time on Saturday or Sunday. She needed it done by Wednesday.
00:30:34.33
Mike
aha
00:30:35.84
Bill
So I think I did it Monday after work.
00:30:37.85
Mike
aha
00:30:38.20
Bill
After I ate, between the time that i i when I do the episode clip and whatever, and then it's about 7 o'clock, and I'm like, at that point, I'm fucking done.
00:30:38.46
Mike
listen
00:30:47.19
Bill
I just want to sit down.
00:30:47.60
Mike
Yeah.
00:30:48.55
Bill
I'm not mad.
00:30:48.82
Mike
Yeah, man yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:30:49.11
Bill
I just want to sit down and watch TV. you know And then I'm like, ah I'll butt pop in here real quick, real quick.
00:30:51.16
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:30:54.80
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:30:55.70
Bill
It probably took me 30 to 40 minutes to get through all this stuff.
00:30:58.02
Mike
Yeah.
00:30:58.78
Bill
um in in ah Again, my own fault. i wasn't I would tell her to her face, but you know that I was getting angry at myself because I waited so goddamn long.
00:31:02.06
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right. he ahha Right.
00:31:07.11
Bill
you know
00:31:07.27
Mike
Yeah, exactly.
00:31:08.66
Bill
But, but so one of the, one of the questions she asked in there, is she was talking about, you know, the traveling, whatever, and then this and that, the podcast. And, you know, she had said, she's like, are you, you know, she goes, obviously the growth that you guys have had, you know a little bit of, you know, how, again, the friendship, I think she brought that up, whatever it was.
00:31:25.19
Bill
That's what a lot of people say, the, the, call it chemistry that you and I have. And it it is, I mean, we can't deny that.
00:31:29.20
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:31:30.35
Bill
I mean, we've been around each other enough and, you know, that this works because of you and I, it just is what it is.
00:31:30.71
Mike
Right.
00:31:35.08
Mike
Right.
00:31:35.83
Bill
um but i think she talked about you know again the mouthiness and the the rawness and whatever we the us just being us on here and and she said she goes do you ever think about or worry about that bleeding into your professional life you know if if somebody found out in your professional life and i'm like well two things i don't share it on facebook um because i don't care about those fucking people you know I don't care about the people.
00:31:40.50
Mike
fifty Yeah, right. Right.
00:31:57.72
Mike
right
00:31:59.30
Bill
I don't mean that in a bad way. You know, I just, I have, they're not part of my life and, and I don't think that they get what we're doing here. You know, so I don't find it. I'm not going to, again, correct.
00:32:09.08
Mike
Yeah, right. It's not for them. So why direct it towards them? I believe that's part of the part of the balance and filter and not oversharing and and you know keeping some things to yourself.
00:32:13.24
Bill
You know,
00:32:19.94
Mike
Hey, where did we just hear that?
00:32:20.41
Bill
yeah know
00:32:21.72
Mike
Yes.
00:32:22.26
Bill
and And I didn't mean to do that. But yeah, so yes, yes, i just gave I just gave an example, but I didn't even mean to.
00:32:25.98
Mike
Yes. yes
00:32:28.18
Bill
Now I'll share stuff about my book and stuff because I think that's more relevant to the you know to the normal human being, quote unquote, you know?
00:32:33.82
Mike
Right? Right? Right?
00:32:35.13
Bill
but um But then i my answer to that was, I'm like, you know, it it kind of is what it is. i'm I'm extremely proud of what we're doing here. I'm happy with what we're doing.
00:32:42.90
Mike
m
00:32:43.23
Bill
We're not doing anything illegal. I'm not doing anything that would, you know, that would is a ah contradiction or anything that would interfere or interfere with my professional life and my job.
00:32:45.44
Mike
Yeah.
00:32:54.91
Bill
Now, I do talk about my boss every once in a while.
00:32:55.42
Mike
right
00:32:57.38
Bill
So if you ever listen to this and heard some of the shit I said about him, then that's something that I've got to deal with, you know, for venting out here.
00:33:00.57
Mike
m
00:33:04.33
Bill
But I've never said his name. I've never used anything like that.
00:33:06.20
Mike
Right.
00:33:06.93
Bill
You know, so I'm not being vindictive.
00:33:07.14
Mike
Yeah.
00:33:08.73
Bill
So I basically said, you know what? I never thought about it. But now that I am, no, I don't give a fuck. You know, because at this at this point, i'm i'm I'm doing this for all the right reasons, and I'm not trying to be hurtful to other people.
00:33:18.97
Mike
Yep.
00:33:21.37
Bill
The people that we talk about, and we make a point sometimes of saying that, you know, like the the individual I was talking about that was hard for me to be around. going say that person's name, the person that we talk about that's trying to change the world, word alcoholic and all and stuff.
00:33:29.87
Mike
Right. Right.
00:33:34.47
Bill
We don't use that person's name, you know, because it's not fair.
00:33:34.58
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right.
00:33:37.87
Bill
They're not here to defend themselves, you know?
00:33:39.42
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:33:40.03
Bill
um But, you know, I just, I just thought about that whole thing. Like with this is just that, you know, I mean, it is a, it's a point of, um you know, knowing and being comfortable with who we are as human beings.
00:33:51.48
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:33:51.57
Bill
10 years ago, I might've been a little bit more nervous about it.
00:33:53.62
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:33:53.70
Bill
I know I, I know I was, you know, but at this point I'm kind of like, you know, my motives are pure.
00:33:55.42
Mike
Right.
00:33:59.80
Mike
Yep.
00:34:00.41
Bill
And if somebody else has an issue with it, then I'll deal with it. um I really don't think that I would get fired because we have a podcast and we say fuck a lot.
00:34:03.72
Mike
Mm-hmm. Mm.
00:34:08.37
Mike
Right. Right. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Right.
00:34:11.55
Bill
And I've talked openly. I've talked about my sobriety my interview. I've talked about my sobriety openly and in, not in, you know, group meetings and stuff like that, but I've talked about it, you know, so I don't i don't get up on ah on a soapbox about it, but i don't I don't hide it anymore, you know?
00:34:15.75
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:34:23.21
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.
00:34:25.66
Bill
So, you know, so again, if somebody has a problem, then fuck them, you know?
00:34:28.41
Mike
Right.
00:34:28.78
Bill
What kind of well I'm kind of thinking about with that part of it, but but no, I mean, seriously, just to get back to Heather real quick, and I want to say that again, um listen to her episode. She was ah she wrote about it.
00:34:40.18
Bill
Also in her blog and was kind of hard on herself that she didn't, she felt like she didn't explain what she's doing enough. Like didn't promote it enough. And I'm like, I'm like, God, that episode was so good. We had such a great conversation with her, you know, it's kind of shot the shit back and forth.
00:34:52.41
Bill
And i i don't know if it'll ever help her out from a professional standpoint, but I'm really glad that we had her on because it was just good to sit there and talk to our friend for an hour and a half, you know, and hopefully.
00:34:58.97
Mike
Yeah.
00:35:01.43
Mike
Absolutely. Yeah. Which is what this whole fucking thing is. And and and we offered, you know, if she does have something new to come on, just she could pop back in anytime and, you know, promote some more.
00:35:04.22
Bill
Right.
00:35:09.28
Bill
Right.
00:35:11.35
Mike
So there you go, Heather. It's not done yet.
00:35:14.94
Bill
Right. Yeah. And you got figure, I mean, we had, you know, people that we've had back to promote. I mean, we had, we had Breeze back. Did we have her back twice? So we had her back once.
00:35:23.38
Mike
Very good words.
00:35:24.54
Bill
Yeah. Just once to promote her thing. And somebody else we had back. Well, gee, we had back just because after her, I wanted to see how she, you know, she got through her surgery with her medications and all that stuff.
00:35:33.90
Mike
Right.
00:35:34.14
Bill
And, you know, we just talked about that with ah a friend of ours. So, i mean, it was kind of a big deal, but, but yeah, we've told everyone, you know, come back on if you want, you know, you want to take a few minutes and, People haven't really brought us, you know, taken us up on it, except for um Jim.
00:35:40.97
Mike
Yeah.
00:35:45.48
Mike
Right.
00:35:46.26
Bill
Jim's coming back on in June.
00:35:47.17
Mike
Yeah.
00:35:48.21
Bill
So, um you know, that, yeah, his you know his his people or his person, you know, reached out to us.
00:35:48.73
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:35:51.80
Mike
Yep. Mm-hmm.
00:35:53.41
Bill
So now I forget the date. But, yeah, so he's coming up. but But yeah, anyhow, so that was ah no's a good reading. i really I really enjoyed it. And I i think I got, I think i after listening to it to begin with, I got more out of it than I maybe I thought I would have.
00:36:00.83
Mike
Yeah.
00:36:06.86
Bill
um
00:36:07.16
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:36:07.70
Bill
You know, not that it was ah it was bad would at first glance, but there's a lot more, there's a lot more in there than I really thought about.
00:36:10.92
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.
00:36:13.38
Bill
so
00:36:14.04
Mike
Yeah. So, right. So like, you know, whatever it was, or the third or the second or something. Right. So we got a week ago that when we read it in the morning and kind of just blew fast it. Right.
00:36:23.99
Bill
Right. Yeah.
00:36:26.36
Mike
Yeah. But it was, it was one, I had read it, you know, the other day, whatever. And, uh, yeah, you know, I stuck my little piece of paper in there and Hey, there it was tonight when I opened it up. And and so that's what we did.
00:36:39.39
Bill
Yeah. And it was, I know today, I just, I don't remember. I dug back in my, in my pictures to grab a reading for today, but I remember going through and I was like, there was part of one that I read, maybe keep it simple.
00:36:52.97
Bill
I'm like, that's okay. But I mean, not all of it. And, you know, sometimes it's like this little, there's like three, four lines of it that are really fucking good. And the rest of it, they just shit on itself, you know?
00:37:00.24
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:37:01.82
Bill
And I'm like, like, I don't like that part, you know?
00:37:04.06
Mike
Right.
00:37:04.32
Bill
And then I went, you know, I get to, I get, do 24 hours and then I do keep it simple. Then I do God grant me. And then touchstones is always last, you know? So like, ah, you know, touchstones has been pretty good.
00:37:15.12
Bill
And I mean, I'm, I read it today and whatever it was talking about, it was just something like completely off.
00:37:18.46
Mike
Right.
00:37:20.87
Bill
It wasn't even really like recovery. It was, I've heard, I can't remember where the fuck it was. I'm like, I'm like, well, that fucking sucked. Yeah.
00:37:26.87
Mike
Right.
00:37:27.45
Bill
Again, not sucked. I was just like, that's completely off topic. I'm like, that was weird. you know just So i had I had to go digging for a reading today. But yeah, to your point, I mean, I'm sure the whatever it was, this reading, what it whatever day that was, I just blew by it and thought, yeah, that's kind of cool.
00:37:41.95
Bill
Let's get out with my day.
00:37:42.34
Mike
Yeah, right.
00:37:44.34
Bill
All right. So what else? Anything else that we that we missed in there or anything else you want to touch on?
00:37:49.16
Mike
Nope, I think we covered it.
00:37:52.38
Bill
right. All right. All right. All right. So um where did we say happy Mother's Day? We said happy Mother's Day.
00:37:57.85
Mike
Yeah, sure. All you mothers out there.
00:38:00.50
Bill
All you mothers out there.
00:38:02.30
Mike
Go have yourself a day.
00:38:03.96
Bill
But no. Exactly. Yeah. It's, uh, you know, I don't know how the weather is going to be everywhere, but i don't think it's going to be the the same thing. You moms. I mean, I feel kind of bad for you for you guys because nine times out of 10 Father's Day is, you know, usually it's pretty fucking beautiful.
00:38:20.05
Bill
I mean, it's June, you know, um, you know, but, uh, in the beginning of May for a second week of May, whatever it is, it's, uh, it's a, it's a fucking coin toss.
00:38:20.73
Mike
Yeah, right.
00:38:25.81
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:38:28.93
Bill
Yeah. it it's It could be raining.
00:38:29.90
Mike
Yep.
00:38:31.39
Bill
It could be snowing. It could be, especially in this area, these areas, you know.
00:38:33.07
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right.
00:38:35.80
Bill
But, okay, so um back to the sitting on my grandkids. I got a couple of things because if this is there are two things that are kind of funny. So, um first of all, and one of them actually is recovery related, so I figured I'd i'd bring it up.
00:38:43.33
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:38:49.54
Bill
but Um, number one, the, the, the new grandchild, which was, um, uh, you know, again, a while since I've had the change of diaper and everything and all that stuff and no issues, no problems, but, um, he hates Theo, the the new one.
00:38:49.97
Mike
All right.
00:38:58.40
Mike
Yeah. Yeah. Sure, sure.
00:39:05.37
Bill
He absolutely hates getting his diaper changed. Now, towards the end of the night after changed his diaper, you know, however many times, I mean, he was, he kind of warmed up to me in a lot of different ways, you know, i mean, I've only been around him basically twice before, you know.
00:39:15.26
Mike
he sure
00:39:18.94
Bill
And not in this, he he was, he wasn't hard to deal with, but here's the thing. So Kimmy was telling me this before she left. She's like, he's just weird. And I'm like, I'm like, what do you mean?
00:39:27.16
Mike
yeah
00:39:29.38
Bill
She's like, you know, trying, trying to tell me all these different things about what to do and how do. She's just, she goes, you'll, you'll get it. He's just, he's just weird. Okay.
00:39:35.97
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:39:36.02
Bill
So here's what I understand about my, my second grandson. Now he is unfiguratable. Okay.
00:39:42.30
Mike
Nice.
00:39:43.16
Bill
And what I mean by that is like Ollie, my other grandson, and I know a lot of kids are when they're when they're that age, because he's coming up on three months old now.
00:39:46.99
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:39:52.27
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:39:52.32
Bill
Yeah.
00:39:52.51
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:39:52.84
Bill
Coming up with three months old. um When they cry, it's I'm hungry. I shit or I pissed myself.
00:39:58.41
Mike
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
00:40:01.24
Bill
Or I'm tired. Right.
00:40:02.23
Mike
Right.
00:40:03.16
Bill
Usually though those are one one of those three things will take care of ah of a child at that two and a half to three month range. um Not him.
00:40:08.83
Mike
Right.
00:40:10.34
Bill
OK, because he he sometimes just cries because he wants to.
00:40:11.01
Mike
Uh-huh.
00:40:13.66
Bill
OK, for he's he might be hungry, but he's still going to cry after he eats. He also has reflux like acid reflux.
00:40:17.94
Mike
and Okay.
00:40:21.42
Mike
Uh-huh.
00:40:21.56
Bill
So, which is kind of that, that part's kind of weird because they just started giving them, uh, the doctor just started giving them medicine, which helps, but the reflux, you can't like normal babies, normal.
00:40:32.04
Bill
I don't mean that in, in a normal circumstance when you can, when you feed an infant like that, you can lay him down and put him in bed.
00:40:32.77
Mike
Right. Right. Okay.
00:40:38.32
Bill
That's what puts him to sleep, right? You can't do that with him because of this reflux because he'll, he'll spit up on himself. And obviously that could be a problem.
00:40:44.73
Mike
right
00:40:45.90
Bill
So you've got to sit him up, you know, to a certain way.
00:40:45.98
Mike
is it
00:40:48.46
Bill
You can't pat him on the back because that actually with the reflux, actually it messes up or does something. it um It's almost a counter effect on, it doesn't make a burp. It actually, you know, could make his reflux worse.
00:40:59.38
Bill
So you can't do that. Okay. So a couple of weird things. So you got to just kind of sit them up and try to prop them up straight, or you can put them in his bouncy chair, a little bit of an angle. Got just let him sit there for 10, 15, 20 minutes until, you know, make sure everything settles and he's good.
00:41:13.02
Bill
So, um, so that's one thing. The other thing is he doesn't, he doesn't want to be held. You know, he doesn't want to be like cuddled and stuff like that.
00:41:17.48
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:41:19.61
Bill
He got to the point towards the end of the night where he allowed me to do that a couple of times, but that's just not his deal.
00:41:19.68
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:41:25.53
Bill
Okay.
00:41:25.59
Mike
Right.
00:41:26.36
Bill
Which is weird because babies normally like that. Right. Right.
00:41:30.17
Mike
Sure.
00:41:30.97
Bill
So what he really likes, and Brian showed me this before he left, he goes, he likes this. And I walked over by the couch. He's laying on the couch on his back and he's arms moving out and legs kicking.
00:41:42.45
Bill
That's what he, that's what he does.
00:41:42.97
Mike
Yeah.
00:41:43.41
Bill
He just sits there and that's what he does. And he's happy.
00:41:45.91
Mike
Nice.
00:41:45.98
Bill
Okay. Until he's not.
00:41:47.80
Mike
Right?
00:41:48.15
Bill
yeah
00:41:48.30
Mike
Well, yeah.
00:41:49.53
Bill
And because that that works this time, but that's not going to work the next time. So, you know, sometimes he'll go right to sleep. Sometimes he won't. That's why I said he's he's unfigureoutable that there's nothing that works on him two times in a row. It might work the third or fourth time down the line, but not. It's just it it was hard to figure out.
00:42:07.22
Bill
So I had everything. Oh, the other thing, too, is he's a Kimmy's like, you can't keep him up for more than an hour or he'll he'll switch. We'll we'll flip and he'll go nuts. And I'm like, really?
00:42:19.06
Bill
And, um you know, it happened a couple of times because he didn't want to, like, go to sleep that he just fucking freaks out. So it's like an hour up, an hour down, an hour up, maybe an hour and a half down, blah, blah, blah. So I've got this all timed out because Kimmy got a dinner from Costco that I'm just to throw in the oven. So I'm like, I got this all worked out. I'm like, this is perfect. This takes about an hour. So at this point, I'm going to, he's up.
00:42:39.21
Bill
I'm going to put it in the oven. By the time he's going to go to sleep, this will be done. It's going to be, you know, kind of taken out, you know, doing its thing, just sitting there for a minute, kind of cooling off a little bit. And then I'm going to put him down and everything's cool. We're going to eat in peace. Well, that didn't happen.
00:42:51.75
Bill
Okay. he's fucking flipping out after I put him down. And finally, Ollie and I are sitting there eating. I'm like, I got to go in there check on him.
00:42:59.71
Mike
Right.
00:42:59.93
Bill
So I go, and I mean, literally he's screaming like bloody fucking murder. Right. And I walked into the bedroom and walk up to the thing and he's dead asleep. And in the time it took me to walk from, you've been in their house, from their kitchen to their bedroom, which took me 15 seconds, dead asleep.
00:43:09.35
Mike
Right.
00:43:13.33
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:43:17.27
Mike
Right.
00:43:18.30
Bill
And then Ollie's right here. Ollie just trailed right behind me.
00:43:19.43
Mike
Right.
00:43:20.62
Bill
And I'm like, ah you know, he comes walking up. He's like, what's wrong? I'm like, yeah, go. I'm like, get out. he's sleeping. Like he's sleeping. I'm trying to wave him out. And then he's got himself pushed up against the thing. So um I had to lift him up a little bit to move him out.
00:43:31.69
Bill
Cause he was cranking his neck. I'm like, he's going to wake up, but he didn't, you know, it's just, he's, he's wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. A beautiful little baby. But, um, and he'll, I'm sure whatever, whatever all this stuff is, I hope for his sake, for the the reflux, he'll grow out of it.
00:43:39.30
Mike
Yep.
00:43:45.32
Mike
Right.
00:43:45.81
Bill
Um, cause I can't imagine that that's very comfortable, but,
00:43:48.06
Mike
Right.
00:43:48.92
Bill
And one funny thing, I'm holding him up on my knee the one time or no, I was actually holding him in my, like he was letting cuddle him this time and I kind of held him out a little bit. So i'm looking at him and all of a sudden he's just like, ba and I'm like, Oh, I said, okay.
00:44:04.18
Bill
So there it was. And he's like, I spit up on, you know, he I had a bib on him.
00:44:07.22
Mike
he Yeah.
00:44:08.98
Bill
But he burped the best burp ever and then just spit up a little bit. You know, it wasn't a big deal, but I mean, he was good. He was perfectly fine. So then the, then the other grandson, this is the recovery part.
00:44:16.07
Mike
Right.
00:44:18.62
Bill
Okay.
00:44:19.22
Mike
Okay.
00:44:19.38
Bill
So um regardless of where we are, right, Mike, we, we do our readings in the morning and we make our bed, right? Okay. So I had the pleasure of being able to sleep. Kimmy's like, do you want to sleep in Ollie's bed?
00:44:30.80
Bill
Because he now has a queen size bed, just a mattress on the floor in his bedroom.
00:44:34.49
Mike
Okay.
00:44:34.68
Bill
And, you know, she's like, when, when we get home, like she goes either when I get home or Brian or both of us are are home, then she goes, we'll just put them in our bed and he can sleep with us. And, You could have his bed. We'll wash his sheets.
00:44:44.80
Bill
He's not going to filthy him up. i my I don't give a crap. You know, I'm like, it'll be fine.
00:44:47.06
Mike
Right.
00:44:48.12
Bill
It'll be comfortable. And we're like, well, we'll get all the stuffed animals off because his, his bed is just, I mean, like 47 stuffed animals on it. Cause that's what he likes, you know?
00:44:56.12
Mike
sure
00:44:57.27
Bill
So they did, they cleaned everything off and I go in there and i go to bed. And so in the morning I get up and I went out and got my coffee, went back in the bedroom and I'm doing my readings and I had already made the bed, and made it all up because he has two blankets on there. So when it's just, you know, there's not a stuffed animal on the bed, it's all made up because that's what we do, right?
00:45:13.76
Mike
Yep.
00:45:14.39
Bill
So then Ollie, when I came out to refill my coffee, he's like, he's like, Grandpa, he goes, you have my monkey in there and you got this. He goes, I need to go get those.
00:45:22.23
Mike
You have my monkey.
00:45:23.47
Bill
It's just this little... It was it was a little monkey sticker he had and then this other squishy toy and he had him on a shelf next to his bed. Well, of course, they just moved him, you know, and apparently he woke up like early and like, where's my monkey?
00:45:35.32
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:45:38.53
Bill
Where's my squishy toy?
00:45:38.98
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:45:39.37
Bill
You know, he wanted to come in the bedroom at whatever time and, you know, obviously go get that. I'm like, come on. I said, you come in here. I said, I got to finish up something. But I said, you can come in and grab him. So we're, I'm, I'm finishing up, uh, doing a couple of things and we're sitting on his bed and, uh, he's like, he's like, so what did you do here?
00:45:47.48
Mike
Right.
00:45:56.27
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:45:56.73
Bill
And I said, what do you mean? He goes, what did you do to my bed? And I said, well, what do you mean? What did do to my, what I do to your bed? And he's just kind of pointing at it I said, well, I made your bed. You know, I said, after I, after I get up this morning, I said, I just, I made it nice.
00:46:05.33
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:46:08.29
Bill
So it's, you know, so it's looks all nice.
00:46:09.56
Mike
Yeah.
00:46:10.13
Bill
And he's like, you're going to have to clean this up before you leave.
00:46:10.46
Mike
Right.
00:46:13.26
Mike
Yeah.
00:46:19.35
Bill
Fucking four-year-old, right?
00:46:21.59
Mike
Uh-huh.
00:46:21.83
Bill
And what he meant was, he's like, not the bed being made. Like, where are all my stuffed animals? And why did you do that?
00:46:27.26
Mike
Right.
00:46:28.03
Bill
you know
00:46:28.35
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:46:29.02
Bill
and he's like And he points to the stuffed animals and he says, you're going to clean all this up. And I said, you mean you want your stuffed animals back on your bed?
00:46:33.02
Mike
Yeah. Right.
00:46:35.18
Bill
And he says, yes, I i need you to do that.
00:46:38.23
Mike
yeah
00:46:38.30
Bill
And I said, I said, if you want to do that, I said, you can do that right now. And he's like, he's like, oh, okay.
00:46:42.94
Mike
yeah
00:46:45.07
Bill
So he throws all the stuff, the animals of that guy. But it was just so fucking funny because he's just like, what did you do here? You know, like, like I did something fucking wrong.
00:46:50.39
Mike
right e
00:46:53.15
Bill
But literally he said, I'm like, I told Kimmy that she's like, Oliver. I'm like, no, no, no. It, it was really funny. He wasn't disrespectful.
00:46:59.70
Mike
he yeah
00:47:00.85
Bill
He was just telling me that I had to clean up my mess.
00:47:03.29
Mike
Yeah.
00:47:03.38
Bill
Cause in, yeah.
00:47:04.34
Mike
This is not what it's supposed to look like. You need to make it look like it's supposed to look.
00:47:08.66
Bill
right Yeah, so so it this is the the the inverse effect.
00:47:09.91
Mike
Yeah.
00:47:13.74
Bill
He wanted me to make a mess on his bed, not not have it non-messy.
00:47:15.86
Mike
Right.
00:47:18.22
Bill
But it was fucking it was fucking beautiful.
00:47:18.46
Mike
Yes.
00:47:20.74
Bill
So i had ah I had an absolutely wonderful time. And he's he's such a good kid. he's a good He's a good helper, too. And, I mean, he's he's to that age now where, I mean, he's nothing you know to deal with or anything like that anymore.
00:47:30.33
Mike
Right.
00:47:31.34
Bill
But, um yeah, the you the little guy. And I think in August I'm going babysit for him again.
00:47:34.15
Mike
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
00:47:36.68
Bill
And Kimmy was going to have me babysit. I think the weekend that I'm probably heading out to Austin. A friend of hers is getting married, I think that's Saturday. And I told her, I said, well, because I'd like to go out, obviously, the weekend prior.
00:47:48.02
Bill
And i you would usually, I'm like, I don't know yet what's going to happen.
00:47:48.47
Mike
h
00:47:51.25
Bill
I'm like, I could do it. Either I got to take off and drive, doesn't even matter. I'm like, let me know. If you're in a pinch, I'll figure it out. but So I'll babysit for him at least you know at one point in August, but maybe twice.
00:47:57.40
Mike
Right.
00:48:01.89
Bill
Or sometimes, but yeah, it was good. You know, and the nicest thing, and I know I can see what time it is. We'll take a break on this. But Kimmy said to me, because she had sent me a a text about something and how is everyone doing?
00:48:08.31
Mike
Yeah.
00:48:14.97
Bill
And then she ended up calling me about a question I had on something.
00:48:16.79
Mike
Mm.
00:48:18.65
Bill
Oh, the the monitor completely went out. And I texted her.
00:48:21.41
Mike
Mm.
00:48:22.09
Bill
I'm like, i'm like I don't know what I said. Took a picture. i'm like, what does this mean? You know, because I mean, it's just, it's it wasn't, it was charged.
00:48:25.75
Mike
Mm.
00:48:28.53
Bill
It was whatever. This is for um Theo's, not Ollie's monitor. And then while I was waiting, she was at a work event, you know, um this little, like get together party that they had at Lambeau field.
00:48:31.61
Mike
Right. Right.
00:48:38.68
Bill
So i'm like, I don't know. I'll show how, when she'll even see this. So I took the picture, I put it in the chat GPT and it told me exactly what the problem was. It's like your, your camera's disconnected. I'm like, how the fuck can the camera be disconnected?
00:48:49.98
Bill
it It must have just, you know, somehow that got looser. Maybe one of us, either me or Ali, hit the switch or whatever it was. So I went in there and turned the switch off and it was fine.
00:48:55.51
Mike
right
00:48:58.19
Bill
But when she called back, she goes she goes, oh, okay. She goes, like i'm I'm glad everything's working. She goes, just so you know, she goes, i'm um im it's nice to be out and not be not to be anxious or stressed.
00:49:08.79
Mike
o
00:49:08.82
Bill
And she told me that on Sunday too. She goes, she goes I don't worry about about the kids when they're here with you, you know.
00:49:13.91
Mike
Right.
00:49:14.97
Bill
Yeah.
00:49:15.99
Mike
Yeah, the old drunk's not going to burn the house down. Nice.
00:49:19.86
Bill
I know. And that's, yeah, when she said that, I was just like, I said, you know, she goes, I don't feel anxious.
00:49:22.20
Mike
Yup.
00:49:23.70
Bill
I don't feel anything. And, you know, just, I'm i'm fine, you know, when, when you're here with them.
00:49:24.86
Mike
Uh-huh.
00:49:27.70
Bill
And I mean, that really, i mean, I don't even know what to say.
00:49:29.62
Mike
Yeah.
00:49:31.42
Bill
I mean, well, you know, you know what i'm talking about, you know, just, I mean, well, you
00:49:31.96
Mike
Mm-hmm. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, yeah. The old drunk's not going to burn the fucking house down. Yeah.
00:49:39.86
Bill
Right, yeah.
00:49:40.01
Mike
Yeah.
00:49:41.06
Bill
He's not going to fucking break anything, burn the house down.
00:49:43.38
Mike
yeah
00:49:43.42
Bill
The kids are going to be taken care of.
00:49:44.63
Mike
this is
00:49:44.86
Bill
and yeah When did I become the fucking responsible one?
00:49:45.56
Mike
Yeah. for
00:49:51.06
Bill
All right.
00:49:51.13
Mike
And on that note, we're going to be back with more responsibilities right after these words from our responsible sponsors.
00:49:52.73
Bill
yeah
00:50:08.66
Bill
All right, everyone. Welcome back. Responsible sponsors.
00:50:12.15
Mike
since Sure.
00:50:13.38
Bill
Yeah. and we've We've actually had some, and again, ads are all different because it depends on who's listening, who gets them, but I can't remember who, what, what ads I, yeah.
00:50:19.16
Mike
Right. And where it's downloaded and blah, blah, blah. Yeah, it's all it all matters.
00:50:23.57
Bill
And you, it all matters on your, you know, like you're, you're going to get different ads than I will or whatever, but it's been, it's been interesting, just kind of different mix. Cause for a while there, again, like I said before, it's American express and whatever, which always made me laugh because I'm not like American express material, but yeah, I don't know.
00:50:37.11
Mike
Right.
00:50:38.78
Bill
It's still kind of, it's still kind of made me laugh, but yeah, it just, I don't know. The, the babysitting was, it was all good. It was at a lot of fun and then stop by and saw um Derek and Katie on the way there and Dawn and Corey were over there.
00:50:45.24
Mike
Cool.
00:50:49.65
Bill
And then Katie's dad hit stop by. So, you know, I get to see, see a lot of people over the, over that weekend.
00:50:55.00
Mike
Yeah. Family shit.
00:50:56.49
Bill
It was, yeah, it was nice. And then, I mean, it just, ah I, Derek and Katie had just gotten back. They went to, they were in Puerto Rico with Katie's family.
00:51:03.58
Mike
I saw the pictures.
00:51:05.56
Bill
Yeah. So I figured you did. But, you know, when I had texted them middle of the week, I said, I'm i'm not going to ask you to go anywhere and do anything. I'll stop by. I don't have to stay that long. I just figured since I'm you know kind of running through there, at least have a chance to to say hi.
00:51:17.20
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:51:18.76
Bill
And I did all my grocery shopping. I had my echocardiogram on whatever day it was on the previous Tuesday. So I did all my all my shopping that day.
00:51:26.41
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:51:28.13
Bill
so I'm like, well, what the fuck? I just did shopping then and I have to do it on the way back. um
00:51:31.67
Mike
Right.
00:51:32.92
Bill
But, day yeah, i'm like, yeah, I just so yeah I just kick, you know, kick back for about an hour, hour and a half, whatever it was. And it was nice. It was just really nice. See, like you said, you know, the family shit. So but, um yeah, it was ah it was a good weekend.
00:51:40.92
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:51:44.19
Bill
I had a had a nice time of shit by the time I got back because I get up stupid fucking early on Saturday. You know, I left here at six o'clock in the morning, you know.
00:51:52.28
Mike
right
00:51:52.53
Bill
Um, so i was like really tired. Uh, and I, not that I got, uh, didn't get a ton of sleep, um, you know, but a little bit less sleep than I normally would have, or even if it was for, for a weekend, you know, for a weekend.
00:51:57.46
Mike
e
00:52:00.57
Mike
oh sure well yeah yeah exactly right well yeah and you know you had an extra ear out you're not going to go as deep as you normally would because you're being responsible yeah
00:52:12.38
Bill
Right. Well, no, they were, they were home. They were home by then. So, yeah, I didn't have to be responsible once day once I went to bed.
00:52:17.79
Mike
all right right right
00:52:18.17
Bill
I could be i could be selfish again.
00:52:20.31
Mike
all right
00:52:21.56
Bill
But, yeah, even even in general, it was just, you know, because thought when, like, yeah, when they when either one of them gets home, I'm just going to go to bed right away. But then, again, you shoot the shit for a minute, and then, you know, by the time you get up, and, i yeah, I was like, by the time Sunday night came around, I'm like, man, I'm fucking done.
00:52:35.58
Mike
<unk>
00:52:36.04
Bill
But again, you know what, as we always say, two things, you know, I wasn't, I wasn't hungover and, you know, I didn't have, i didn't wake up with, you know, regrets based on, on bad choices.
00:52:42.01
Mike
right
00:52:46.43
Bill
So so it was, it was fucking fine. It was all good. it was all good.
00:52:50.91
Mike
Yep.
00:52:52.12
Bill
All right. So speaking of ah regrets and bad choices, our po our podcast.
00:52:54.62
Mike
Ah. Yes.
00:52:57.78
Bill
So so here's what here's what i was what I did a couple of times through this whole voting process, because just in general, and I forget, there's been different type of voting things where you know there there's a tally you know of kind of how the votes are going or whatever.
00:53:11.26
Mike
Uh-huh.
00:53:12.27
Bill
And um that's not the case with this stuff.
00:53:12.92
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.
00:53:14.19
Bill
So, I mean, i mean we don't know. I mean, we you know we flooded everyone with a vote. Just shit. And I'm like, I hope that, you know, it's like, what what else can you do?
00:53:19.00
Mike
Right.
00:53:22.05
Bill
You know?
00:53:22.39
Mike
Yeah.
00:53:22.65
Bill
And just everyone's like, oh, no, don't worry. We voted. then we voted. and you're like, whatever.
00:53:26.77
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:53:27.09
Bill
Okay. So four of you voted. i mean, we, you know, how the fuck, how the fuck do we know?
00:53:29.30
Mike
Right.
00:53:32.14
Bill
So, and it was, I don't know, whenever we first found out about this, you figure voting was done on April 11th. Didn't we find out about this? Was it in early March? It had to have been right. Late February, early March.
00:53:44.47
Mike
Yeah, I don't know.
00:53:45.37
Bill
Oh, you know you know what? I think it was actually before Theo was born. So it might've been sometime in February.
00:53:49.46
Mike
Yeah, I think, yeah, it was. It was a while ago.
00:53:52.12
Bill
Yeah. So it was, it was a while ago. And it it at one point I just looked it up. Cause I'm like, I wonder if there's, there if there's any, like, like I was joking saying chatter and stuff online. I'm like, if I, if I put certain keywords in there, am I going to get any indication of any of this ship?
00:54:05.68
Bill
And I'm like, how is anyone going to know anything based on this?
00:54:06.33
Mike
Uh-huh.
00:54:08.83
Bill
Okay.
00:54:08.87
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:54:09.50
Bill
um But I was kind of wrong because I did this the other day, just out of curiosity. So, and I looked up the Sands Bar Academy Awards, obviously talks about the awards and what it is and the best podcast and blah, blah, blah.
00:54:14.23
Mike
Yes.
00:54:21.82
Bill
In the final nominees, and it had us listed as number one for the final, you know, in the nominees. um It said Sober, Not Mature, a Raw, Filter-Free Podcast hosted by Mike and Bill, Chronicles of Personal Sobriety Journeys.
00:54:34.02
Bill
the The second in line, because they were talking about this as far as, the two that were kind of seemed to be like getting the most, um I don't know, like buzz.
00:54:43.77
Mike
Frontrunners.
00:54:45.07
Bill
Yeah. Front runners buzz, whatever the case is um was sober inlet hosted by coach Ruby podcast inspires midlife women to live alcohol free.
00:54:45.59
Mike
Yeah.
00:54:50.37
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:54:53.27
Bill
And, um you know, it's saying check the winners at the when when the award ceremony is blah, blah, blah. And I'm like, just out of curiosity, I put in these exact words. Who has the best odds of winning?
00:55:03.97
Bill
You know, I'm like, if they're saying that there's getting buzz out there, I'm like, does anyone fucking know anything more? so it says obviously people choice recognition so you know best odds finalist active social media engagement fan bases blah blah blah but it said there are no official betting odds these finalists but these finalists have shown significant community engagement through early 2026.
00:55:09.40
Mike
Uh-huh.
00:55:26.91
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:55:27.10
Bill
number one on the list us sober not mature this podcast has been highly vocal
00:55:29.19
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:55:33.37
Mike
yeah They got big mouths.
00:55:37.53
Bill
Right. podcast has been highly vocal about the voting process, emphasizing that winners are chosen directly by the sober community, which is fucking true. And yeah, we've been a little mouthy about it.
00:55:47.42
Mike
Right. Yes, we have.
00:55:50.65
Bill
um It says ah out and out, out and about AF, which obviously alcohol free recently celebrated their nomination by sharing how removing alcohol open doors for the show and their personal journey, encouraging strong fan support.
00:56:03.42
Bill
And then Sober Lit was the third one where it says been actively campaigning, framing the award as a way to change the conversation around alcohol for women. um So it said um there was one and i when I looked at it yesterday, it didn't say the same thing here.
00:56:19.90
Bill
it said the the front runner right now is us in the the thing that I looked up yesterday. I was trying to look it up so I could read some of these things to you. I didn't get the same.
00:56:28.70
Mike
Right.
00:56:29.45
Bill
I didn't get the same readout. Oh, wait, no, actually, no, it does say it.
00:56:31.26
Mike
Right. well
00:56:32.33
Bill
It says, note well, hang
00:56:36.95
Bill
on one second here.
00:56:38.23
Mike
he So you're saying that things change on the internet.
00:56:41.18
Bill
oh yeah. No, and i yeah I apologize. I didn't read down. it is is It is a little bit more here. So it says, ah based on community visibility and aggressive campaigning leading up to the April 11th voting deadline, Sober Not Mature appears to be the odds-on favorite for the Sands Bar Academy Award for Best Podcast.
00:56:52.72
Mike
Ooh.
00:56:59.06
Mike
Ah.
00:57:01.47
Bill
Since these awards are community voted rather than decided by a panel of judges, and it says, quote-unquote, odds are effectively measured by social media momentum and active fan mobilization.
00:57:12.51
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:57:12.60
Bill
And then it says, ah why sober, not mature leads the pack. Okay.
00:57:15.86
Mike
Yeah.
00:57:16.50
Bill
Aggressive campaign.
00:57:19.06
Mike
Yeah. Yeah.
00:57:19.77
Bill
it we did, we flooded, we flooded people with shit.
00:57:21.50
Mike
yeah
00:57:23.00
Bill
They have been the most, most vocal about the voting process, ah ah launching a road to victory campaign specifically for the Austin event. um Their follow-up engagement after voting closed showed a significant volume of supporters claiming they have vote or sit claiming to have voted, framing the nomination as a direct win for the sober community, and then maintained a weekly release schedule throughout the voting period, using each episode to direct their listeners listener base to the Sands Bar finalist page.
00:57:52.54
Bill
So um I know.
00:57:52.66
Mike
Goddamn.
00:57:54.21
Bill
and And again, this is not me making this shit up. This is the this is fucking this is a fucking Internet, you know, but I'm like it.
00:57:56.76
Mike
Right.
00:58:00.85
Bill
We were kind of laughing the entire way through because I'm like, people are going to get either either people are going to vote for us or they're going to get fucking sick of us and they're not going to vote for us because they see it too much.
00:58:03.68
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right.
00:58:10.30
Bill
But then, you know, seriously, if all this stuff works perfect, you know, I mean, i I don't have any regrets one way or the other. It is what it is. I would do the same goddamn thing, you know, next time, too. Or if there were a next time for anything in our in our podcast life or lives in general, why the fuck not?
00:58:24.51
Mike
Right.
00:58:25.18
Bill
You know, I mean, go fucking balls out and, you know, just, you know, see what happens.
00:58:25.65
Mike
Yeah.
00:58:30.21
Bill
But um that is the I have not learned much about social media because I don't know a fucking thing.
00:58:30.39
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:58:35.96
Bill
You know, but the only thing that I have an idea about is just kind of like the recovery thing that we were talking about.
00:58:36.19
Mike
Right.
00:58:42.16
Bill
You know, we learn and we stay sober through repetition, you know, fucking over and over and over again.
00:58:46.30
Mike
Mm-hmm. Yeah. Mm-hmm.
00:58:50.03
Bill
You know, people have to tell us the same goddamn things. And still, you know, i'm I'm four years sober until I see this word. You know, I'm 10 years sober until I figure this out. You know, something just came up, came up, you know, within the last, you know, four years that we've been doing this.
00:58:58.17
Mike
Right.
00:59:03.15
Bill
And I'm like, really?
00:59:04.59
Mike
Mm-hmm.
00:59:04.69
Bill
know, and.
00:59:07.38
Bill
like i I never knew that. you know um Oh, the fourth step.
00:59:09.75
Mike
Right.
00:59:11.42
Bill
the The fact that I should have done so talked about something positive um in my fourth step.
00:59:12.06
Mike
Yeah.
00:59:15.22
Bill
you know I was fucking 12 years sober until until you brought that up on here.
00:59:15.54
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right. Mm-hmm.
00:59:19.02
Bill
And I'm like, I did none of that.
00:59:20.73
Mike
a
00:59:22.84
Bill
I didn't know. thought was just being able to say, you know, no, these are all the places I fucked up.
00:59:23.96
Mike
right
00:59:28.38
Bill
Here's now how do I how do I fix this shit? um You know, but that's the only thing I've learned is it, um you know, repetition. The more you put it in front of people, you know, they have to it's advertising to an extent, you know, but, you know, people got to keep keep seeing this and people got to know who you are.
00:59:44.74
Bill
You know, and and maybe that is, I mean, just by accident, you know, by this incessant behavior that that I have, you know, with this, with the social media posting, probably in general, you know, that, you know, part of it in in the fact that we do and say the same things on here every fucking week, you know, both you and I will say, well, we talk about this all the time.
01:00:01.43
Mike
Right?
01:00:05.43
Bill
We've said this, said this, you know, over and over again, but, know,
01:00:05.53
Mike
Uh-huh. Yeah. Mm-hmm. I don't know. Yeah.
01:00:08.92
Bill
you know You know, people, number one, people remember it and people remember us.
01:00:11.96
Mike
yeah
01:00:12.60
Bill
And, you know, we have, ah i don't know if you want to call it style. we have We have something. I don't know what the fuck it is, but...
01:00:16.89
Mike
um i don't know yeah
01:00:20.33
Bill
But no, I was just kind of sitting there reading all this stuff and I'm like, you know what? And again, when it comes down to all this stuff and I think I am better at keeping my ego in check and stuff like this than I used to be.
01:00:31.75
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:00:33.08
Bill
I'm still an egotist, but I don't know.
01:00:33.30
Mike
Sure.
01:00:35.60
Bill
I mean, reading stuff like that, it's not a matter of I don't feel like it's stroking my ego. I feel like it's giving... This, um, uh, a positive validation for everything that we didn't try to do, you know, because we didn't try to do anything, you know, and realizing that we didn't try to do anything, but people are still like, you guys did something, even though you didn't try to, that's fucking huge to me, you know?
01:00:52.50
Mike
Right. Yeah. Mm-hmm.
01:00:58.78
Mike
yeah here Yeah, yeah. Well, and again, you know, yeah, we're just, we just do it, you know, but we do it, but we do it consistently and, and, and, you know, with some sort of principles behind it.
01:01:14.01
Mike
And that's, that's kind of all any of it is right.
01:01:14.49
Bill
Right.
01:01:17.69
Mike
Do it consistently and do it for the right reasons. And that's all that fucking matters.
01:01:23.90
Bill
the The right reasons? What?
01:01:25.74
Mike
Yeah. All right.
01:01:27.45
Bill
What? But, yeah.
01:01:30.14
Mike
Consistently.
01:01:31.26
Bill
Yeah, I know. Consistently and for all the right reasons. And, yeah, I mean, speaking of Austin, too. Yeah, Kathy just ordered. though You saw that. She booked. ah
01:01:37.66
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:01:38.33
Bill
So you guys got your plane tickets. We still got to book the Airbnb.
01:01:40.14
Mike
Yep.
01:01:41.33
Bill
I got to figure out how to line that up. And then one way or the other, figure out, you know, how to get our or get my ass out there, which is not a big deal.
01:01:44.22
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:01:49.33
Bill
I've got a car, you know. so But, yeah, we're we're all we're all good to go.
01:01:50.53
Mike
Mm-hmm. And you know how to drive it?
01:01:54.84
Bill
I do. i do.
01:01:55.63
Mike
All right.
01:01:55.68
Bill
oh yeah more than more than a couple More than a couple of miles I know how to drive it.
01:01:56.86
Mike
There you go.
01:01:59.70
Bill
so
01:01:59.86
Mike
Nice.
01:02:01.05
Bill
I mean, yeah, Kathy just asked the other last night or the night before. She's like, so this whole event thing, she's like, she's like well, what are you guys going to wear? And I'm like like, it's a dress-up thing.
01:02:12.66
Bill
it's a it's ah It's a suit thing.
01:02:13.01
Mike
Yeah.
01:02:14.14
Bill
I said, you know, I've got i've got a black sport coat. i got my black pants. I bought all my dress clothes when we had did our thing for Mara.
01:02:17.65
Mike
Right.
01:02:20.38
Bill
so If you remember, I had nothing here, you know.
01:02:20.54
Mike
Right. Right.
01:02:22.94
Bill
So I had i had to fucking go to Kohl's and buy all new dress clothes. you know but um So I have that.
01:02:25.98
Mike
oh
01:02:27.72
Bill
i've got a black I've got a black dress shirt. I've got a white dress shirt. I've got, you know if I want to buy a different tie. i mean, I don't know. Do we want do we able to do anything? Do we want to be uniform with anything? or what do you what do I guess we haven't talked about that.
01:02:38.11
Mike
we're i uh yeah no we're not trust me we're not um
01:02:38.24
Bill
but
01:02:44.66
Bill
No, I know. just i that was kind of that was That was a joke.
01:02:45.34
Mike
yeah
01:02:46.82
Bill
I know you don't want to know you don't want to play twinsies or anything.
01:02:47.99
Mike
yeah no i'm i i've got a black leather sport coat and um i've got a black ruffled tuxedo shirt that i plan on wearing yeah uh-huh
01:02:53.59
Bill
Nice.
01:02:58.17
Bill
Really? Nice. Very nice. Yeah. And I mean, I've got, I bought a, uh, and you know, when, when I bought it was when, um, uh, when Dan passed away, I bought a black, I was in Kohl's and I got one, you know, kind of inexpensively.
01:03:08.06
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:03:10.96
Bill
I was just going to wear a black dress shirt. Um, and then obviously they, you know, his whole ceremony or whatever, or non-ceremony happened so quickly.
01:03:12.84
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:03:17.91
Bill
We didn't, uh, I never wore it, but, um, But yeah, I mean, I've got i've got a white shirt, but i think I think I will.
01:03:18.26
Mike
Right.
01:03:23.54
Bill
I just wear all black too, you know. and do You said yours is a black ruffled shirt?
01:03:25.24
Mike
Hmm.
01:03:28.10
Mike
Yep.
01:03:28.82
Bill
Yeah. and I mean, i've got I've got both. But I mean, I, yeah, stressed out. Kathy's like, I think I'll wear one of my gala dresses.
01:03:35.80
Mike
yeah yeah I mean, well, you know, it's we've got to remember it's also going to be August in fucking Austin, Texas.
01:03:36.50
Bill
I'm like, wherever.
01:03:42.02
Mike
It's going to be a little warm.
01:03:42.14
Bill
Yeah.
01:03:43.48
Mike
okay
01:03:43.93
Bill
Well, I mean, I think we're going to be inside under under under a conditioned air.
01:03:46.30
Mike
I would imagine there's air conditioning in there, yes.
01:03:49.86
Bill
So, yeah, I think we'll be okay.
01:03:50.22
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:03:51.78
Bill
But then, yeah, I don't know. The other night's whatever it is, Thursday night, there's something going on. And Friday night. so But I think those are at – we'll have to look at it.
01:03:57.27
Mike
Yeah.
01:03:59.58
Bill
think those are at Sands Bar. But I don't think those are dress dress things, but the event is.
01:04:01.33
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:04:03.90
Bill
Yeah. I don't know.
01:04:04.55
Mike
Yeah.
01:04:04.84
Bill
one One way or the other. I mean, it's just, it's going to be a lot of fun. We've got everything, you know, kind of set up and squared away.
01:04:07.90
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:04:09.76
Bill
And I don't know. It just, it's, ah it's, it's nice that the whole thing is just fucking nice. You know, just fucking nice.
01:04:15.65
Mike
Mm-hmm. Yes, exactly. It's going to be a little adventure.
01:04:20.70
Bill
Yeah, absolutely. Okay. So a couple of things, I've got a podcast thing and I've got, what do you want to talk about? A podcast thing or, or a specific drug?
01:04:30.97
Mike
yeah it
01:04:32.44
Bill
Yeah.
01:04:34.49
Mike
um Well, you know, being the good drug act that I am, let's go for the drugs first.
01:04:39.38
Bill
Okay. So have you, and I've heard of this before, just on a couple of podcasts, but they were talking about it on on on another one.
01:04:44.18
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:04:46.62
Bill
But have you heard of Kratom, K-R-A-T-O-M?
01:04:49.69
Mike
Yeah. Mm-hmm.
01:04:50.42
Bill
Okay. So what do you know about? because i know, only thing I know about it is what I've heard that it could be some sort of addictive substance banned in a lot of areas.
01:04:57.98
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:04:58.66
Bill
Ohio was one because ah the chick was from Ohio that had gotten and hooked on it.
01:05:02.39
Mike
if if
01:05:02.54
Bill
Um, so I know Ohio banded apparently, but, um, it was something you used to be able to buy it like CBD stores and ah vape shops and gas stations.
01:05:09.30
Mike
but you Gas stations. Yeah.
01:05:12.02
Bill
Yeah.
01:05:12.19
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:05:12.38
Bill
So like, it was like, there was five hour energy and then just Kratom stuff. So what is, what is it? I don't know much about it. So that's why I come to my, my friend.
01:05:19.61
Mike
I mean, i right.
01:05:21.08
Bill
Okay.
01:05:21.59
Mike
well I don't know. that was ah after we got sober. So, ah but yeah, I mean, it's, it's, I mean, it's kind of ah gas station sort of, I believe it's like kind of cross between an opiate and weed, but it's not either, but it's kind of like both.
01:05:25.40
Bill
Okay.
01:05:43.59
Mike
I think, i don't know.
01:05:45.11
Bill
Okay.
01:05:45.69
Mike
Yeah.
01:05:46.74
Bill
Well, and I just, um while you were talking about that, and that's it, they mentioned something that, because ah this chick that they were talking to, and I can't remember if it might've been on Brad's, the Sober Motivation podcast, I think it was.
01:05:55.39
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:05:57.62
Bill
And she was saying that it had the um had the addictive and almost the withdrawal feeling like an opioid, because she was she has hooked on opioids prior.
01:06:02.95
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:06:05.02
Bill
um
01:06:05.24
Mike
Right.
01:06:06.42
Bill
So I just looked it up and it said, Kratom is a tropical evergreen tree native, or native to Southeast Asia, contains active compounds that act as a stimulant, small amounts in a sedative or pain reliever in higher doses widely sold as an herbal supplements linked to serious uh serious safety and addiction concerns um alkaloids it's getting into larger words um
01:06:15.13
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:06:18.10
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:06:24.48
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:06:29.66
Mike
Right.
01:06:32.98
Bill
um hydro hydro mixed to mitergrain something ah mitra mitra shine nine
01:06:40.44
Mike
yeah but da butoo
01:06:41.78
Bill
Exactly. um But yeah, just ah addiction independence. Regular use can lead to substance use disorder and withdrawal symptoms. There we go. Nausea, agitation, confusion, liver damage.
01:06:55.86
Bill
Concentrated extracts. That's from an overdose standpoint. Oh yeah. And that was the other thing. Entirely unapproved by the FDA for medical use. Unapproved.
01:07:03.77
Mike
Right.
01:07:04.76
Bill
Okay. So, um, and like I said, the only time I had heard of it and I just wasn't sure cause you, and I, I guess I didn't know when it came around.
01:07:12.76
Mike
Right.
01:07:12.90
Bill
Um, but I didn't know that it came, I didn't know when it came around, whether before or after. But, um, again, you seem to be that either way, you've got your kind of ear to the ground on some of this shit or somehow you're, you're, you're fucking brain just absorbs this weird shit that I, if you, I've said it before when, and I'll just say when,
01:07:21.69
Mike
Yeah.
01:07:25.94
Mike
Hmm.
01:07:31.48
Bill
if, but I mean, when, cause it doesn't happen often, but when you don't know something, it blows my fucking mind when it's ah I mean, when it's some random thing, I mean, I, you know I find, but just didn't, I don't know when I, when I'm like, God, if anyone would have known this, you would have known the type of thing.
01:07:37.37
Mike
Right.
01:07:45.24
Mike
Right.
01:07:45.60
Bill
So.
01:07:45.60
Mike
I mean, yeah, again, it it got, i well, clearly it's a fucking plant extract, you know, herbal thing, whatever, blah, blah, blah.
01:07:50.76
Bill
Right.
01:07:52.32
Mike
So it's been around a long time, but um yeah, it you know, yeah.
01:07:54.65
Bill
Right. Right. and
01:07:57.14
Mike
ah But it, as the Kratom in the the gas station, dope shit. Yeah. That was after we got sober.
01:08:03.47
Bill
Right.
01:08:05.46
Mike
So I have no personal experience with it.
01:08:05.82
Bill
Right.
01:08:09.59
Bill
Well, and you know that the thing with it
01:08:10.26
Mike
I have heard, you know, guys talk about it around the rooms and stuff, though. So that's like my only knowledge of it.
01:08:16.48
Bill
Right. And I think that we got, um there was guy or a couple of guys that had approached us. It was this this herbal tea coffee thing. And I think this was part of it.
01:08:29.05
Bill
It might've been in that. And, you know, that, cause you and I both looked at it.
01:08:31.34
Mike
Uh-huh.
01:08:33.95
Bill
You looked at there and I'm like, whatever this is, it looks like it's mind or mood altering.
01:08:38.32
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:08:38.67
Bill
So we declined, you know, obviously, but that might've been, I could be wrong, but that might've been what what this was too, or part of.
01:08:40.02
Mike
Sure.
01:08:45.63
Bill
And the guy was, you know, on their website, it's like, oh, plant-based and blah, blah, blah.
01:08:45.72
Mike
Right.
01:08:49.69
Mike
Sure.
01:08:50.11
Bill
It's this. And, you know, it's like without the without the hangover, without the hot.
01:08:52.68
Mike
Heroin's plant-based and cocaine's plant-based and right.
01:08:53.80
Bill
hey Right. Yeah. No, i I get it. I get it.
01:08:57.92
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:08:58.24
Bill
It's just just a matter of how these people are trying to, as as they say, frame it, you know, which I hate that fucking term.
01:08:58.98
Mike
Sure.
01:09:03.74
Mike
Mm-hmm. sure
01:09:05.43
Bill
But, I mean, I understand it. It fits. It fits in some circumstances. But, but yeah, I mean, this ah this chick was talking about it. And, yeah, she lived in – she was from – i don't know she was from the Cleveland area.
01:09:16.91
Bill
Now I can't remember. Maybe Dayton. i I don't remember. Whatever it was. She was from Ohio, but I can't recall now.
01:09:20.31
Mike
Okay.
01:09:21.43
Bill
But yeah, she said that they had, they had since, and it's, I i think only been in the last year or two that they banned it.
01:09:26.90
Mike
Yeah, I think so, right?
01:09:28.70
Bill
Cause I, I don't, she was coming up on her. i think she was coming up on her one year anniversary or by the time it aired, it might've been her one year. So recently, you know, and you know, it was like one of the last things that she got involved in.
01:09:37.02
Mike
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
01:09:40.14
Mike
Yeah.
01:09:40.77
Bill
But I just didn't know if, ah if you had heard of it, but I mean, my, my understanding is yes,
01:09:44.15
Mike
I mean, certainly heard of it. um Actually, there is a mutual friend in the rooms that, yeah, had a problem with it.
01:09:46.17
Bill
Right.
01:09:51.58
Mike
You know, clearly you're not going to bring him up. But, yeah, yeah. it So, I mean, that's the extent of it. I know people around us have done it, you know, again. Because, yeah, it's, you know, you go to the fucking gas station and buy the shit. But you keep, you know, like anything else, you start abusing it. And it's, yeah, not a good thing.
01:10:10.39
Mike
And we tend to abuse things.
01:10:13.54
Bill
Well, in this, here's the other thing she said, too, and that's, you know, which could which could throw you a little bit because, you know, she was saying that she's like, OK, and literally had she had put it this way in her in the conversation.
01:10:24.48
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:10:24.66
Bill
She's like, there's a five hour energy and then there's this, you know, they're literally right next to each other.
01:10:27.60
Mike
Yeah.
01:10:29.56
Bill
And, you know, if you don't if you don't I that's one time that I think you can claim little bit of ignorance if you're if you're not knowing if it's if it's in the same thing.
01:10:40.24
Bill
you know, you got your like right on the counter.
01:10:40.28
Mike
Right.
01:10:42.02
Bill
Maybe it's there, you know, I don't know. You got, you got your, you got your diet Coke, you got your five hour energy, you know, you got the, whatever it is, caffeine pills over here.
01:10:45.81
Mike
Yeah.
01:10:49.21
Mike
Right.
01:10:49.43
Bill
And then you got your, your Kratom thing. And I think it's just, I, whatever the, it wasn't called Kratom, you know, it's like the products that called Kratom.
01:10:51.57
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:10:55.93
Mike
Right.
01:10:57.33
Bill
It's just whatever the thing is, you know, I don't know what it is.
01:10:57.35
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right. Sure.
01:11:00.98
Bill
Um, where, I mean, that could easily, i think that could be confusing, you know, if you're, you know, but I, I don't know.
01:11:05.15
Mike
Well, yeah, I guess. Yeah, right. I mean, I drink a five-hour energy every day, but, you know.
01:11:07.78
Bill
I mean, I,
01:11:11.45
Bill
Right.
01:11:11.95
Mike
But I buy them in a very large box, and I know what they are.
01:11:18.33
Bill
Well, and and that's the thing, too, that, I mean, you and i I, mean, you and I are not different or unique or anything like that, but we're we're certainly more, I'm not just going to drink something, you know, or or consume something and I don't know what it is.
01:11:27.99
Mike
Oh, yeah. Yep.
01:11:30.97
Bill
So here, I'll give you an example.
01:11:31.22
Mike
Exactly.
01:11:32.41
Bill
It just made me think about it. I was, I don't know, a few weeks ago, whenever it was, I went up to that that hiking trail, that Coffee Creek that's up, you know, just north of the expressway. And you don know where that, is that a speedway on corner there, that gas station where you get off on 49?
01:11:43.23
Mike
Yeah.
01:11:44.48
Bill
Yeah.
01:11:45.29
Mike
Yeah.
01:11:45.64
Bill
So that's there's a um if you go behind there, that that that road will take you right back you know down the road a little bit. Then you don't to go on the highway. You know, it's like right right down there to where the trail is.
01:11:55.00
Mike
Yeah.
01:11:55.76
Bill
So a lot of times when I when I come out of there, again, sometimes I'll be thirsty.
01:11:55.94
Mike
Right.
01:12:00.16
Bill
I'll grab a soda. I'll grab a Gatorade. I'll grab, you know, a bag of chips or something because i'm going grocery shopping and stuff like that.
01:12:05.69
Mike
Right.
01:12:06.26
Bill
So I stopped in there and they had this, whatever I grabbed to eat, I had soda in the car, but they had this, like these clearance items on the table in these cans look like they almost look like white cloth.
01:12:18.32
Bill
Okay. So these thin type of client cans.
01:12:20.34
Mike
Right.
01:12:20.92
Bill
So either it was either it could have been like a monster, like a thin monster or like a fucking white cloth, you know, which clearly neither one of those I want, but it said it was it was a, like a sparkling tea, you know,
01:12:21.02
Mike
Right.
01:12:27.22
Mike
right
01:12:29.62
Mike
right
01:12:35.99
Bill
And I looked at It's like a strawberry tea, like whatever it was. So I looked at it and I'm like, I'm looking at all, I'm looking at the ingredients. I'm like, everything looks fine. It's just tea, you know, but then I'm waiting in line. I'm behind like two, three people. I swear to God, I looked at it like two, three times. I stepped out of line, went back to the table. I'm just making sure Because then when I when I took a taste of it, it tasted a little bit odd just because it was like this strawberry.
01:12:57.44
Mike
Uh-huh. Mm-hmm.
01:12:58.57
Bill
It was this fake fruit flavor.
01:13:00.15
Mike
Sure.
01:13:00.70
Bill
I took one big drink and I'm like, what the fuck? I looked at it again and I'm like, there's nothing in this.
01:13:05.15
Mike
Yeah.
01:13:07.39
Bill
But it I swear to God, I'm like, I don't even know I should drink this anymore. Just because it was weird, but I was so goddamn thirsty and it wasn't bad, but I wouldn't have gotten it again because it just, it tasted like a, like, um, like a cross between like a, like a sparkling champagne wine type of thing.
01:13:25.08
Bill
It was fucking weird, but it was just some fucking tea thing, you know?
01:13:27.58
Mike
Yeah. Right. You know, some chemical fruit flavor in it.
01:13:32.15
Bill
Yeah.
01:13:32.50
Mike
Right.
01:13:32.82
Bill
Yeah. Yeah.
01:13:33.45
Mike
Right.
01:13:34.10
Bill
And it was, but it was like it clear, it was like a dollar, you know? So now it's fucking thirsty, but, but the same thing, I looked at it like three, four, I'm like, am I really, and even after I took a drink of it, you know, again, hopefully in most cases more in tune, like you said, your five hour energies and blah, blah, blah.
01:13:36.44
Mike
Yeah. he
01:13:41.27
Mike
Yeah.
01:13:49.75
Bill
All right. So we got the Kratom thing out of the way. um So from another podcast in, in this, I thought was interesting. I just wanted to get your, your opinion. I ah well, yeah, I just want to get your opinion on this.
01:13:58.93
Mike
Yeah.
01:14:01.34
Bill
So one of the hosts had said some of us were, were medicating. So call it drinking, using whatever the case is. Some of us were using our substances just to get back to zero or back to even.
01:14:08.15
Mike
Oh.
01:14:13.50
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:14:14.36
Bill
How do you, do you agree with that?
01:14:16.06
Mike
Oh, yeah, sometimes, you know.
01:14:17.66
Bill
hey
01:14:17.94
Mike
that's Yeah, you know, and um especially with the drugs, especially, you know, with something like heroin whatever. yeah I mean, you're really not getting all that high anymore. And, you know, when you're deep in the shit, and you're just, um you know, you're deep in the shit and you're not like...
01:14:39.29
Mike
you know, partying anymore. Yeah. You're just, you're trying to get even.
01:14:43.22
Bill
Right.
01:14:43.25
Mike
You're just trying not to be sick and, and yeah, it's fun.
01:14:49.53
Bill
Right.
01:14:49.72
Mike
Um, yeah. Oh, absolutely. Yeah. There's definitely, you know, and and even with drinking, I mean, you know, um, talked about on here, you know, I was never, I wasn't a maintenance drinker. You know, I couldn't, um, I had to, once I started drinking, I drank it until I fucking passed out. Um, um,
01:15:06.78
Mike
But I mean, you know, that the beginning of that, yeah, it was, you know, I was, I was shaking and I and i needed a drink um because I was getting sick and and yeah, um getting even, you know, yeah, eventually, you know, the way I drank, yes, I got drunk.
01:15:24.08
Mike
um But, you know, and and sometimes um we've talked about that too, you know, sometimes you fucking drink all night and you don't really get all that drunk and, you Sometimes you'd have a couple of pops and you fucking pass right out, you know, at the end because you're so fucking chemically imbalanced that yeah, your body reacts in all kinds of fucked up ways.
01:15:37.78
Bill
Right. Right.
01:15:44.89
Mike
But, um yeah, oh, absolutely. You know, just trying to get even, man. Trying not to be sick. Just, ugh, yuck.
01:15:53.27
Bill
Right. I mean, do you also think that in, and I don't know if they meant it this way, but I just thought about this, you know, also as we were talking, do you think um that you ever, did you ever drink just to like, was that like to get back to normal also, not just to get well type of thing, to get even, but do you think that that's how you felt the most normal in in life, you know, itself, if you were right.
01:16:08.79
Mike
e
01:16:13.62
Mike
certainly the most comfortable yeah yeah right yeah definitely yeah i mean i'm yeah i would much rather be fucked up than than sober yeah dry right yeah i yeah i You know, and and certainly if I was in any kind of social situation or anything, and if I didn't have any fucking booze in me, oh, my God, it was miserable.
01:16:16.09
Bill
Okay.
01:16:18.84
Bill
Right.
01:16:24.31
Bill
yeah Right. yeah
01:16:38.26
Mike
Yeah. You know, but if I could get a few in me, it was it was better. Yeah. Yeah.
01:16:44.41
Bill
Right.
01:16:44.73
Mike
Yeah.
01:16:45.85
Bill
Well, and the and you know that's the thing too. that And and i said it I said it before that I was never, well, not never. There was a point when when shit was bad with, whether it was when Dawn and I were together or even back when when Pam and I were together, there were points in both of those relationships and points in both of my, ah both of i guess my mindset in both of those relationships when when shit was really bad where it's just kind of like, okay, then...
01:17:10.93
Bill
Then I had this mindset that I, you know, I'm going to go drink because either it's going to piss somebody off or I know it's going to, you know, just fuck it, you know, because I because I can type of thing.
01:17:19.03
Mike
Yeah.
01:17:20.64
Bill
But I normally wasn't that type of person.
01:17:20.86
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:17:22.80
Bill
I wasn't the you know, I i wasn't the I need a drink type of person. I wasn't necessarily that i want to go out and get fucked up.
01:17:27.12
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:17:29.44
Bill
I just did. You know, it just ended up happening. And then. um Everything, literally everything that we did, it was just, it was part of, in in my opinion, that nothing to do because I hear, I've heard a number of podcasts, you know, that people are from Wisconsin.
01:17:44.96
Bill
Whoa, from Wisconsin. What else is there? you You're from Wisconsin.
01:17:46.78
Mike
What else is there to do there but get drunk?
01:17:47.47
Bill
this What do you think we do there?
01:17:49.62
Mike
Yeah.
01:17:49.78
Bill
Yeah, it's like, what what do you think people do in Wisconsin? It's the beer and it's this. And I'm like, it's nothing to fight. I hate hearing in that. I've been lived there for years.
01:17:57.26
Mike
Right.
01:17:58.14
Bill
It had nothing to with Wisconsin because I've seen it. You know, I buy i know you people from Cleveland. I know you people that are from Detroit and you people that are from California.
01:18:02.58
Mike
Mm-hmm. Yep.
01:18:05.02
Bill
And, you know, it doesn't fucking matter. But, you know, the thing of it was is that it was just, it seemed to be, I just, I wasn't looking for people.
01:18:07.61
Mike
yeah
01:18:14.55
Bill
i was like, I found the people that did what I did.
01:18:16.72
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:18:17.39
Bill
I never looked for it necessarily.
01:18:17.64
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right.
01:18:19.55
Bill
It just, you just end up, you know, now do you end up because that's what you're drawn to?
01:18:21.50
Mike
Yeah. Yeah.
01:18:25.15
Bill
I don't know. You know, like, like relationships, people say that if you're, you know, if you're, if you're fucked up in a certain way by a person or fucked up by whatever this issue is, that you're going be drawn to the same type of person to cause the issue.
01:18:26.31
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:18:37.07
Bill
Now, I don't know if that's true or not.
01:18:37.35
Mike
Uh-huh.
01:18:38.87
Bill
You know, maybe there's a certain pattern, you know, this, you know, this, this pattern that goes, you know, from generation to generation or, you know, whatever the case is.
01:18:39.15
Mike
Yeah. Yeah.
01:18:47.27
Bill
But um I think when you – well, and that's kind of what we did. Obviously, get sober and you change the habits and you heal some of these things. But um I just don't know. I i wasn't that type of person just be – I'm going to go out and get and get fucked up.
01:19:00.78
Bill
But I think that I did. That was a good way to put it. You said the most comfortable.
01:19:05.30
Mike
Yeah.
01:19:05.34
Bill
And I think that's true because you walk in and you're kind of like – hands in the pockets, whatever. And just everyone walks for the bar right away because, you know, you're sitting there and that's why people, you know, um have a, have a drink in their hand or do whatever.
01:19:12.60
Mike
Right.
01:19:18.53
Bill
Oh, this is the other thing on, just reminding me of, on, of all places on LinkedIn. So I'm not on LinkedIn very often, but I usually check in there once, once a day. Just curiosity.
01:19:28.85
Bill
I just kind of, if there's something interesting, because now there's a lot of, Not a lot. There's a number of sober people, a lot of these sober curators that I follow on LinkedIn. So I do have sober people that I you know i follow.
01:19:38.11
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:19:42.20
Bill
But this guy had this, you know, there was like, OK, suggested post for you. And this guy said that I don't know where he was. He was at some sort of an event. And the person was he knew that the person was sober.
01:19:54.40
Bill
And they had a, like a seltzer drink with a lime in it.
01:19:58.30
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:19:58.38
Bill
And the person said that, um, you know, they, they did that, um, obviously to, to feel part of or whatever. Cause i'm like, okay, I know a lot of people do that.
01:20:04.20
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:20:05.50
Bill
I've never been that guy, but I know a lot of people do that, you know, but then, then the person, um, said that, you know, they would, um, they did it so that they had the appearance that they were drinking, you know?
01:20:06.74
Mike
Right.
01:20:16.26
Mike
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
01:20:17.94
Bill
And I'm like, that that's the thing that always scared me a little bit because I'm like, I've never tried to lie about or give the impression that I'm drinking because I'm like, I don't want to play that.
01:20:22.39
Mike
Mm. Right.
01:20:26.49
Mike
Right.
01:20:27.16
Bill
i don't want to play that game. you know If I'm if i'm trying to pretend that I'm doing it sooner or later, I'm going to get tired of pretending.
01:20:28.51
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:20:32.92
Mike
Mm.
01:20:34.08
Bill
Now that's that's me You know, now, and I, I've even gone to the point where I've been, I've been in social situations at a wedding or a thing, wherever I've been, where there's been alcohol being served, I'll go get a soda.
01:20:34.20
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.
01:20:43.40
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:20:45.44
Bill
They put it, you know, in a glass. It looks like a drink glass.
01:20:47.70
Mike
Sure. Yeah.
01:20:48.25
Bill
They put a straw and then they put a lime in it to make it look like a mixed drink. I take the straw out and I take the lime out right away because I don't want it to look like a drink, you know, but that's me, you know?
01:20:51.18
Mike
Uh-huh.
01:20:55.80
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right.
01:20:58.06
Bill
Um, but it was just interesting to me if, um, but I mean, maybe that's that comfort for people. I don't know, you know?
01:21:04.02
Mike
I mean, I've never really given it a lot of thought, but I mean, when I go out to a show at a bar at a club, um, I, my go-to is a tonic water with a wedge of lime in it. Um, you know, and, and I don't really, I don't know.
01:21:19.93
Mike
I don't do it to have the appearance. I'm having a drink. Um, That's just, that's, you know, I'm, I occasionally I'll get a bottle of water. It usually at a bigger show.
01:21:31.61
Mike
I don't know. But yeah, that's usually when I go to a show, I get a tonic water with a lime in it. um It's just, I don't know. It's because, you know, I'm still fucking, I have my rituals and that's, you know, and I walk up to the bar and I order that.
01:21:45.13
Mike
And um yeah, you know, I don't,
01:21:47.83
Bill
but you But you like it, right? You like...
01:21:49.56
Mike
Oh, yeah. I've always... Yeah, I like tonic water. I liked it when I was a kid because I was a fucking weirdo.
01:21:52.31
Bill
Right.
01:21:54.36
Mike
um and And I didn't drink tonic water when I drank.
01:21:56.54
Bill
Right.
01:22:01.82
Mike
um It wasn't my mixer ever.
01:22:04.15
Bill
Right. i remember you said that, yeah.
01:22:04.73
Mike
You know? Yeah, right. It was, um, I always got either cranberry juice or grapefruit juice, you know, with vodka or, ah or and Coke or you know, Jack and Coke or whatever.
01:22:10.07
Bill
Right.
01:22:14.70
Mike
Um, wild Turkey and Coke. andt like I never liked Jack. Um, it's goddamn Tennessee whiskey.
01:22:19.23
Bill
Right.
01:22:21.11
Mike
That's not real bourbon. Real bourbons from Kentucky. God damn it. Um, yeah But yes, um and so it wasn't my mixer and it wasn't that. and And it's, I don't, you know, I don't even think about it that I'm trying to look like I have a drink in my hand. It's just what I get when I'm out.
01:22:40.34
Bill
Right. And so here's the thing. And when I when I brought that up, I I know i know that you do that. You literally just talked about that a handful of episodes ago, maybe within the last two, three months, whatever it was, because whatever the last the last show you went to, you said that you were you were talking about that.
01:22:45.67
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:22:50.07
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:22:52.47
Mike
Sure.
01:22:55.30
Mike
Right.
01:22:56.66
Bill
So I know you do that.
01:22:57.08
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:22:57.94
Bill
But I also i think I I think I knew well enough that you didn't you weren't doing it for that reason. I never thought about you when I heard that story.
01:23:02.33
Mike
Right.
01:23:04.26
Bill
So let me just let me just say that for everyone.
01:23:04.25
Mike
Right.
01:23:06.26
Bill
I wasn't trying to draw up my friend Mike with that. because i know I know better with you.
01:23:10.90
Mike
Yeah.
01:23:11.48
Bill
And I also know you like it because you've said that before. You're a fucking weirdo.
01:23:13.95
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:23:14.36
Bill
You actually like tonic water.
01:23:15.58
Mike
Yes, I do.
01:23:15.72
Bill
um i don't. i would never I would never get tonic or I'd never mixed it with anything i don't like it.
01:23:17.43
Mike
Right.
01:23:21.07
Mike
Right.
01:23:21.09
Bill
I've tasted it before.
01:23:21.29
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:23:22.01
Bill
My dad was a vodka and tonic drinker at times. Other people, I've just never liked it. But like I said, the the thing of it was is that, and and that doesn't surprise me.
01:23:26.92
Mike
Yeah.
01:23:31.55
Bill
I never really thought that you did it to make people think that you were drinking either because I know you well enough, you know, and you're not,
01:23:35.48
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right. Right. Yeah, i'm glad I'd never walk into a bar and order a grapefruit juice with a with a squeeze of lime in it because that's yeah's way too fucking close to what I used to do.
01:23:41.56
Bill
Right.
01:23:46.14
Mike
So, yeah.
01:23:46.93
Bill
Right. Right. right yeah Yeah. and And do you remember when, what was the, I think it was, some it was like Barks root beer or something like that. The mom got me and it it reminded me of, it tasted like um Captain Morgan or something like that.
01:24:00.94
Bill
It had this, this weird or the, it wasn't Captain Morgan.
01:24:01.08
Mike
Right.
01:24:04.42
Bill
It was the, whatever whatever the generic little bottles they used to have.
01:24:07.83
Mike
<unk>
01:24:08.22
Bill
um Admiral Nelson. God, now I got to look it up. I'm nearly positive.
01:24:14.17
Mike
Mr. Pibb fucking heard of it Right, yeah Knock off Captain Morgan, I gotcha
01:24:15.80
Bill
Yeah, but I think it was that was the off-brand. um God, let me see if I'm if i'm right now. that if i'm If I'm right, that's going to make me laugh. admiral Admiral Nelson Rum.
01:24:30.68
Bill
it Yeah, sure. Yeah, it's it's at this cheap. um It's exactly what it is. Yeah, admiral Admiral Nelson.
01:24:38.36
Mike
Yeah.
01:24:39.90
Bill
And I'm like, fuck
01:24:40.18
Mike
It's the Mr. Pibb of, of Rome.
01:24:41.94
Bill
it It is 100%. Yeah. You gotta, everyone, if you want to play a along, just look it up. Not if you got anyone that's going to, going to freak out.
01:24:48.43
Mike
I don't know.
01:24:49.16
Bill
Cause you're, there's your search history showed you looking up Admiral Nelson rum, but, but yeah, God, where did I pull that from?
01:24:51.98
Mike
Right. Yeah. Yeah.
01:24:55.02
Bill
That's kind of funny, but that's, that's what it tasted like.
01:24:55.35
Mike
i don't know
01:24:58.49
Bill
And I couldn't, I couldn't drink it. I remember you talking about grapefruit juice.
01:25:00.25
Mike
right
01:25:01.44
Bill
It was a, so this mix of Kool-Aid that they did one time.
01:25:01.59
Mike
yeah
01:25:04.09
Mike
Oh God. Yeah. At the fucking Keating center. Yeah.
01:25:06.74
Bill
Yeah.
01:25:06.85
Mike
We were, yeah, we were like 30 days fucking sober and the the Kool-Aid they put out at one point was this fucking grapefruit stuff.
01:25:06.90
Bill
Yeah.
01:25:10.20
Bill
Yeah.
01:25:14.45
Mike
I couldn't drink it. Yeah. I, you know, and I'm trying to um I don't even know if I've had grapefruit juice since I got sober. I don't think I have.
01:25:23.74
Bill
I think the, when the last time that you and I talked about it, which might've been on here, I think you said you had not, or you, or you were, you were asking yourself the same question.
01:25:27.86
Mike
did. Yeah. Yeah. Right.
01:25:30.86
Bill
Like, have I had this?
01:25:31.16
Mike
Yeah. I don't, I don't think, yeah.
01:25:32.64
Bill
Right.
01:25:33.16
Mike
Cause I mean, that was at the end that was, it was vodka and fucking grapefruit juice, man. Half and half. And, um, no, thank you.
01:25:38.76
Bill
Right.
01:25:41.82
Bill
but you know what's funny too is that I, and I've had it happen before with, um, with coffee, just from wherever, you know, the, like it, it won't taste that way when it's hot, but when the coffee gets cold and you take like that last sip, it gets almost like a, like an old whiskey taste, you know, and it just this off taste that reminds me of like, if you, if whiskey has been sitting around for too long, just and it's an old, it's an old ruffle, almost like a, yeah.
01:25:47.51
Mike
who
01:25:50.58
Mike
Right.
01:25:53.26
Mike
Yeah.
01:25:56.48
Mike
Hmm.
01:26:04.28
Mike
I wouldn't know. I never had whiskey sit around for too long.
01:26:07.10
Bill
Well, i and I mean, that's the wrong way to put it. it just It's almost like a musty a musty tasted, but it tastes like reminds me of whiskey, whatever it is.
01:26:12.22
Mike
all right. Okay.
01:26:14.78
Bill
And it just it's it's happened every once in a while.
01:26:15.38
Mike
he
01:26:17.66
Bill
And I just don't you know put the same thing. you know these These things are weird. but Back to that original thing, though, is I just thought whatever people want to do to, you know, to make themselves comfortable, I just, for me, it'd be a dangerous game for me to try to, for me to try to deceive people, make them, I don't want anyone to ever think that I'm drinking, you know, um under any circumstance that I don't want to, I don't want to pretend because,
01:26:26.62
Mike
he Sure.
01:26:31.22
Mike
Yeah.
01:26:35.54
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:26:38.86
Mike
Right. Yeah.
01:26:44.28
Bill
I don't, I don't pretend and I'm going to get tired of pretending and I'll be like, well, I'm sitting here and I'm holding a glass of whatever.
01:26:45.90
Mike
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
01:26:51.03
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.
01:26:51.96
Bill
I might as well hold a real glass, you know, of, of real whiskey, you know, cause then if somebody, what if somebody comes up and wants to taste it?
01:26:53.56
Mike
Sure. Yeah.
01:26:58.60
Bill
You know, I gotta, I gotta, to you know,
01:26:59.15
Mike
Mm-hmm. Hey, I got it. that's right. Yeah.
01:27:03.99
Bill
yeah, well, of course I gotta, you know.
01:27:05.71
Mike
I'm running an honest program here. I can't fake shit.
01:27:08.92
Bill
here
01:27:09.97
Mike
Yeah. Mm-hmm.
01:27:11.83
Bill
Right. Right. All right. So last last quick thing here. And I, um, this is, this will be an easy one, but, uh, and I, I didn't know this and they brought it up. Um, I don't even remember where I heard this from. Did you, did you know that, that Prince died from a fentanyl overdose?
01:27:26.23
Bill
Okay. I did not. I don't, I don't know how I didn't know that. Um, maybe I just didn't it be kind of went over my head. It goes, how long ago has it been since Prince died?
01:27:36.32
Bill
10 years, six, seven?
01:27:38.07
Mike
Yeah. um Yeah, 10.
01:27:40.50
Bill
God, I was going to, let's go. Okay. one Fucking Google machine again.
01:27:44.91
Mike
Uh-huh.
01:27:46.04
Bill
When did Prince die?
01:27:46.15
Mike
Yeah.
01:27:51.51
Bill
Oh, Jesus Christ. What day is it today? Yeah.
01:27:53.79
Mike
Uh-huh. Yeah.
01:27:53.98
Bill
all April 21st, 2016.
01:27:58.31
Mike
Yeah.
01:27:58.98
Bill
That's crazy. yeah Yeah. Literally just over, just over 10 years ago. um
01:28:03.23
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:28:06.10
Bill
Is that, is that the right? Oh yeah. So i'm like, I'm, then I see this other thing, Prince Albert, wouldn't it?
01:28:09.59
Mike
Yeah. Right.
01:28:11.12
Bill
I'm like, this is, it can't be Prince Albert, but no, yeah, October or April 21st of 2016.
01:28:11.67
Mike
ah
01:28:17.25
Bill
So again, it it was brought up on, again, something I was listening to and I'm like, fucking really? So I don't think fentanyl was really on my, on my radar, even in my thought pattern 10 years ago.
01:28:27.93
Bill
It's probably why I didn't, I knew he had, I knew he died of, he was, you know, obviously being and prescribed and, you know, abused and whatever of drugs and whatever, but I just didn't realize it was fentanyl.
01:28:28.25
Mike
hu
01:28:32.95
Mike
m right
01:28:37.81
Bill
I'm like, well, that's, that's kind of fucked up because I mean, fentanyl is fucked up to begin with, but I'm like, I didn't, I didn't know that, but I'm like that clearly again, one of those things that I'm like, you're absolutely 100% going to know that.
01:28:53.85
Bill
So, all right. Do you think we've it done, we've done some work? I mean, I know we've done some work. Have we done, we've done some,
01:28:58.54
Mike
We've done something.
01:29:01.84
Bill
we've We've done something to be, well, you know one one way or the other. Again, we've said it from the from the start. From the first time that we talked about it and and promoted it or started promoting it, nobody can ever her take away the fact that we've been nominated as a best podcast.
01:29:16.09
Mike
yeah
01:29:17.94
Bill
But I think i think if we win, it's i mean we're kind of hard to deal with every once in a while. If anyone thinks that we're hard to deal with you with just being nominated, watch the fuck out if we end up winning.
01:29:25.02
Mike
Right.
01:29:28.92
Bill
Intolerable. Maybe. Maybe. What do you think?
01:29:33.72
Mike
Sorry, man, I coughed.
01:29:34.81
Mike
Nope, I just muted myself.
01:29:35.26
Bill
Oh, Jesus. And I'm like, are you fucking kidding me? They were were literally at the end of the episode and I just lost him.
01:29:40.47
Mike
no i just needed it myself
01:29:42.55
Bill
No, that's okay. That's okay. I was literally, I'm looking at by it the screen going, what the fuck? Are you fucking kidding me?
01:29:47.64
Mike
yeah
01:29:47.87
Bill
I just lost him. But anyhow, okay, so my my point was we'll probably be intolerable if if we end up winning. But you know what?
01:29:54.10
Mike
Yes, I'm sure.
01:29:54.77
Bill
Fuck it. Fuck it. People have to deal with it. So that's that's why you love us, everyone out there, right?
01:29:57.22
Mike
that's right. I'm sure. Mm-hmm.
01:30:01.18
Bill
All right. I think, I believe, I believe, I believe it's your turn.
01:30:05.69
Mike
All right. Well, thank you everyone for listening to yet another episode of Sober Not Mature. always, be kind to each other, good to each other, go out and do something nice for somebody else this week, and don't tell anybody you did it.
01:30:20.18
Mike
Now, from the bottom of my heart to the depths of my soul, from the beginning of time until the ends of the earth, always and eternally, fuck you.
01:30:32.28
Mike
Now it's time, kids. It's time for me to go to bed. No, I mean, it's time for you to fuck off. Then keep fucking off. Keep fucking off till you get to a gate with a sign on it saying, you cannot fuck off past here.
01:30:44.76
Mike
Climb over that gate, dream the impossible dream, and keep fucking off forever. Hmm.
01:30:51.70
Bill
You made me giggle with that. Oh, it's time.
01:30:53.49
Mike
Hmm.
01:30:53.62
Bill
It's time for me to go to bed.
01:30:54.87
Mike
a
01:30:56.25
Bill
And you know what? i I was almost remiss. I almost forgot about this. This will take just half a second. i i never try to lean you towards an ah a podcast title, but this decide this could be in the running.
01:31:00.41
Mike
m
01:31:04.66
Mike
Yes.
01:31:06.02
Bill
Okay.
01:31:06.42
Mike
Okay.
01:31:07.16
Bill
Did you hear that Britney Spears was charged for her DUI?
01:31:10.71
Mike
I did not.
01:31:11.96
Bill
Okay. So then you next question is irrelevant. I was going to say, did you hear what she was charged with? I swear to God. Okay. This is what she was charged with.
01:31:19.29
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:31:20.79
Bill
The term is wet, reckless.
01:31:23.87
Mike
Uh-huh.
01:31:24.89
Bill

01:31:27.58
Mike

01:31:30.68
Mike

01:31:33.82
Mike
m
01:31:44.22
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:31:46.96
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:31:50.32
Bill
Wet Reckless. Now, there of course, they're talking about on the radio show they're listening to.
01:31:51.89
Mike
Mm-hmm.
01:31:54.08
Bill
They're like, that could be one of her album titles.
01:31:56.70
Mike
Yes.
01:31:57.75
Bill
And I'm like, in my head, I'm like, that reminds of that chick I used to hang out with. Hello.
01:32:01.46
Mike
Yeah.
01:32:03.52
Bill
But I'm like, how could you how could you sit in court? I mean, yeah, I know I'm being charged with something at this point, but the but the judge or a court commissioner says, you have just been convicted of Wet Reckless.
01:32:16.54
Bill
Yeah.
01:32:17.08
Mike
All right. Throw your fist in the air.

Bill
Yeah, he could see like you do fucking Homer Simpson. Woo-hoo! It's just i've I've never heard the term, so that was my second question, which I'm guessing now that based on your your confusion with it, you've never heard of that even being from the California area.
01:32:32.33
Mike
I have not.
01:32:33.46
Bill
Okay.
01:32:33.54

01:32:53.11
Mike
