SoberNotMature - Episode 197 (Why Don't You Just Smell it?)

This week we have...

The Gratitude Episode! (With Mike and Bill)

To be completely honest, we didn't fall over ourselves trying to make this just a Gratitude Episode. We try to live that way every day and hopefully it shows.

Mike started out with his reading and it was about saying thank you. Those are two very simple words, but do we use them enough? Do we truly appreciate when someone is kind to us? It takes work to be kind and we should say thank you more often. It was a good topic.

We talked about justifiable anger, repacking our bags each day, some other podcasts, painful memories and Nurse Jackie.

We also came across a few articles that were fun. A racist soup executive, saving a dog from a fake fire and Slender Man.

Enjoy the episode.

00:00:01.37
Bill
All right, everyone. Welcome once again to another episode of Sober Not Mature. What's up, all you jive turkeys out there? Come on now.

00:00:10.52
Mike
he

00:00:11.77
Bill
So first of all, go ahead.

00:00:12.73
Mike
Well, but but go ahead.

00:00:14.28
Bill
No, no, go ahead. You were going answer. it Go ahead.

00:00:15.83
Mike
I was going to say, well, by the time they hear this, the turkeys will be all dead and digested and, you know, probably in the toilet. Mm-hmm.

00:00:23.26
Bill
You know what? That's ah that's a good goddamn point. But i was i've got that's kind of a lead-in for a couple of things. But my first question, because i was thinking about this before we started, because I'm thinking, oh, you know and obviously we're we're on a particular day, but I'll get into that in a minute.

00:00:36.01
Bill
But where did that come from?

00:00:36.38
Mike
is is

00:00:37.53
Bill
Was that from, that was from a TV show, right? Jive Turkeys. Wasn't that from 70s TV show?

00:00:44.02
Mike
but I think all of them.

00:00:48.44
Bill
You know what? That's okay. Okay. a Question answered. Question answered.

00:00:51.67
Mike
Right.

00:00:52.12
Bill
you ah you're

00:00:52.67
Mike
Jefferson's, you know, Sanford and Son, What's Happening. All those urban good times, all those urban television shows from the nineteen seventy s

00:01:06.17
Bill
Right. Yeah, that was the that was the thing. Everyone was ah a jive turkey. So yeah, I guess i guess you're right. but So there's a there's a couple of a couple of weird things right now for this recording today. So um not necessarily weird in a bad way, but the first weird thing is where I think it was mentioned, we mentioned it last week or in the promos, is that i mean we're under the same roof, you know, so...

00:01:24.86
Mike
We are.

00:01:25.75
Bill
Um, that's the first time. And, uh, cause you have been, there's been, uh, you didn't feel good or your car issues, whatever. It's been a couple of years since you've been here, um, on Thanksgiving.

00:01:32.63
Mike
It is.

00:01:34.14
Bill
So that's, uh, that's, that's a weird thing too. But so we're both under the same roof. Um, you're going you're going hear a little bit of an echo from Mike, but that's okay.

00:01:38.42
Mike
We are. Mm-hmm.

00:01:41.58
Bill
You know what? We're going to work with that because Mike is, Mike is kind of, uh, I don't know working, working on the, on the fly here. He didn't have his boom. So he's, he's bent over his microphone.

00:01:48.60
Mike
he

00:01:50.51
Bill
You know, that's, that's number one.

00:01:50.87
Mike
I am hunched.

00:01:53.19
Bill
He's in a room. He's in a room that echoes. And it seems like it echoes more than it did the last time, but not that it fucking matters. It is what it is because we're not going to try to fix it because we don't do that sort of thing.

00:02:01.19
Mike
Uh-huh. No.

00:02:04.26
Bill
um But also then we were going to hook up. But if if everyone remembers when Mike asked if he had to bring his Ethernet cables, everyone remember remember, remember this thing?

00:02:12.02
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.

00:02:12.67
Bill
And he cut he cut me off with the story and all that. Not that that would have mattered.

00:02:15.64
Mike
and insist

00:02:16.79
Bill
But so Mike has an adapter. So do i to hook up our Ethernet cables into our computers.

00:02:20.82
Mike
Yes.

00:02:21.75
Bill
And Mike, just curiosity, where is your adapter for your Ethernet cable?

00:02:26.47
Mike
It's on my Ethernet cable in Cleveland.

00:02:29.40
Bill
so So let's backtrack. um Yes, you do have to bring your Ethernet cable with you.

00:02:33.72
Mike
yeah Right.

00:02:35.80
Bill
Because because it's like, yeah, because it's just that, I mean, ah and why wouldn't it be?

00:02:36.63
Mike
Just the tip.

00:02:41.00
Bill
I mean that in the in in the best way possible. Why wouldn't it be attached to it? Because that's what we do.

00:02:45.11
Mike
Right.

00:02:45.56
Bill
We keep things where we where we use them.

00:02:47.38
Mike
Exactly.

00:02:48.66
Bill
But so here's the other weird thing um is that we have, and this is ah this is a never so far. We've recorded on different days and times and all those sort of things, but we're actually recording on a holiday.

00:02:59.98
Bill
So yeah, we are recording on Thanksgiving Day. Yeah.

00:03:03.06
Mike
Gobble, gobble.

00:03:03.80
Bill
As you're gobbling your microphone.

00:03:06.86
Mike
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

00:03:08.89
Bill
I can just picture you all.

00:03:13.40
Mike
oh

00:03:13.62
Bill
ah Mike's in there gobbling his microphone. But yeah, so a long story, which we can get into a little bit later. It's ah it's possibly unimportant anyhow. but um So yeah, we're actually recording. on Thanksgiving Day because I'm sort of out of necessity, is sort of by choice, but we've got the fucking time, so we're we're doing it on on Thanksgiving Day.

00:03:31.64
Mike
Exactly.

00:03:32.65
Bill
Yeah, we haven't it we haven't eaten yet, but we're at at our sister's house, and it's going to be surprisingly only a couple hours, so this should we should be able to wrap this motherfucker up and head down to the table and and stuff our faces, so.

00:03:43.51
Mike
Perfect.

00:03:44.44
Bill
Exactly. But this, I think this is our, this is our gratitude episode, right? Is that kind of what,

00:03:50.46
Mike
Usually, yeah, yeah, that's usually what we try to do.

00:03:51.93
Bill
yeah you're like

00:03:55.90
Bill
okay.

00:03:56.06
Mike
It doesn't necessarily mean it is, but usually it is.

00:03:56.66
Bill
it's

00:03:59.99
Bill
ah Okay. so So let's go back to two things so far that have just been logical answers every 70s show.

00:04:03.51
Mike
Yes. Cool.

00:04:06.81
Bill
And usually, i mean, those those those two things, I mean, I i just asked two of the most ridiculous questions I've ever asked in the entire time we're doing it and got the best answers ever.

00:04:06.97
Mike
since yes

00:04:16.97
Bill
Okay. So we can try. We'll we'll try to to fill in some gratitude stuff here, but I think that's kind of the main the main theme, if i'm if I'm not mistaken.

00:04:21.33
Mike
is

00:04:24.57
Bill
But um I do have, I've got a couple of things. I actually wrote down a couple of, I haven't had articles in a while, but had a couple of things I ran across. couple of things about, two things about a couple of podcasts.

00:04:35.38
Bill
One's kind of like a, like a, hey, they're doing this and kind of interesting. The other kind of like, hey, they're doing this now. Okay.

00:04:41.78
Mike
yeah

00:04:41.88
Bill
So I get, I get two things on that. Plus I'm sure we got plenty of other shit, but yeah, we get gratitude stuff if nothing else. Right. Okay. So um do you, my friend, Mike, is is your book hooked up to your Ethernet cable also?

00:04:55.13
Mike
It is.

00:04:55.36
Bill
or

00:04:58.71
Mike
no this may shock you, but I brought my books with me because, hey, guess what?

00:05:02.20
Bill
yeah

00:05:02.75
Mike
They go everywhere I do. Yeah.

00:05:04.86
Bill
i know. I just didn't, I didn't know if, you know, if by chance, I mean, if that that could make sense. Yeah. I don't know. i don't know what you do with your Ethernet cable in your, in your own time. If that's where your books are attached to or whatever the case is.

00:05:12.98
Mike
a

00:05:15.46
Bill
So.

00:05:15.51
Mike
Well, if you ever bothered to smell it, you would answer your own question.

00:05:17.78
Bill
Okay. There's the third thing. Why didn't you just smell it? Okay.

00:05:23.22
Mike
Right. Right.

00:05:23.99
Bill
Every 70s show usually. And why didn't you just smell it? Perfect.

00:05:27.78
Mike
The turkey, the pie.

00:05:28.07
Bill
I got it. That's, that's it. The theme, ah that could be the theme of our episode. Why didn't you just smell it?

00:05:33.60
Mike
Yes.

00:05:34.97
Bill
You know what? Okay. Wait, I'm grateful.

00:05:36.18
Mike
the turkey the pie

00:05:38.63
Bill
I'm grateful that I didn't, that I didn't didn't smell your cable.

00:05:40.12
Mike
yes

00:05:42.11
Bill
So.

00:05:42.64
Mike
Hmm.

00:05:44.89
Bill
ah

00:05:45.27
Mike
Right. All right.

00:05:46.68
Bill
okay

00:05:46.74
Mike
So, yes, I have my book. I do a reading. um I nothing jumped out at me. So um and i actually, I'm pretty sure we've done this before, but too bad we're doing it again.

00:05:57.79
Bill
Right.

00:05:57.91
Mike
um So I went to the back and looked up gratitude and because, you know, it's what you do.

00:06:02.17
Bill
yeah

00:06:06.90
Mike
If you don't know what you're doing, look it up. And this is ah January 29th, and it's actually one of my favorite ones. It is dog-eared. It is one of the ones I used to do in group all the time. And so here we go. January 29th. A single grateful thought toward heaven is the most complete prayer.

00:06:27.48
Mike
Some German guy. I'm not even going to try to fucking pronounce it. All right. Thank you is one of the most important things we can say to anyone. Thank you packs a lot of meaning into two little words.

00:06:39.22
Mike
Thank you says, i see you. I see what you have done for me. You have been kind to me. I know what it takes. I know what it takes. What? I know it takes work to be kind. Hmm.

00:06:54.52
Mike
ah I feel special that you did the work of being kind to me. i am grateful. Sometimes it's hard for us to say thank you because we are too busy feeling shame or sadness or anger.

00:07:09.37
Mike
So what? No excuses. Those feelings are your own problems, and we know what to do about them now that we have a recovery program. No matter what is going on with us, we can always find help, and we can always be kind to others. Saying thank you is an easy way to start.

00:07:29.14
Mike
prayer for the day. Thank you, higher power. Thank you for the gift of life, for a world of natural beauty and power to live in, and for the people around me who love me and accept my love. Thank you for caring about me and helping me every day in my recovery. And please help me ask for the gift of your help each day.

00:07:55.46
Mike
Today's action. Damn it. Actions. Today i will practice thinking. Thank you, higher power. Every time I receive a little help or a lucky break.

00:08:05.88
Bill
So first of all, that prayer for the day, my God, that was long. I was like, for for a minute there, I'm like, did i did I miss where you said action for the day?

00:08:09.18
Mike
Yes, it was. Nope. Hmm.

00:08:13.56
Bill
Did I fall asleep for a minute?

00:08:15.32
Mike
nope

00:08:16.73
Bill
But I mean, i like that. and There was a there was a reading that i Pulled out and but posted recently that was kind of along those same lines because the same thing this week with the readings, although the I liked him, I think I only put in this week and last week, I think I was kind of searching back for the things I post on social media in the morning.

00:08:37.11
Bill
um Same deal. Not that there's anything wrong with the readings, but you always say it. They did. You know, they didn't really jump out at you. But there was one that I i pulled out recently about that that said a thank you thing.

00:08:43.02
Mike
Right.

00:08:46.91
Bill
Maybe that was from this week. Anyhow. So the the action part of it, it said, up what was that about practicing? That part I didn't get a chance to write down.

00:08:54.46
Mike
ah I will practice thinking. Thank you, higher power. Every time I receive a little help or a lucky break.

00:09:02.68
Bill
Okay. So, um, a little help. I, I get a lucky break. So do, do you think, I guess let's, let's start out there.

00:09:07.77
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:09:10.18
Bill
Um, anything in I don't Well, I suppose anything in life, is it, is it a lucky break or was there something else behind it?

00:09:10.51
Mike
aha

00:09:18.16
Bill
Do you agree with a lucky break?

00:09:20.89
Mike
I mean, you know, um, yeah, occasionally something falls your way that you didn't really have much to do with. Um, but again, you know, I, you know, did you put yourself in, were you, did you prepare yourself to be, you know, in a place where you can accept a lucky break, you know, that you're open to it?

00:09:42.65
Bill
Right.

00:09:43.19
Mike
Um, Right. You know, cause I mean, shit passes you by all the time. Um, you're looking the other way. You're not going to see that, that exit ahead of you. um yeah, you know, so yes, ah you know, occasionally there is a lucky break, but they're pretty fucking rare, few and far in between. um more, more often it's, you know again, you've, you've prepared yourself. You've put yourself in a position to,

00:10:09.21
Mike
be somewhere where you can, you know, um be in the right place at the right time. um You know, and again, you know, you could say it's a lucky break, but I mean, at this point, I think we've put in enough work that we know that we have to do the work first. Otherwise, what the hell's the point?

00:10:30.69
Bill
Right. Well, and and I like what what you said there. And I think that's probably the most important, you know, ah component of or at least the start of everything that that you just talked about, which I agree with everything you just talked about.

00:10:41.43
Bill
But you said, you know, putting yourself in a position to receive that lucky break, you know, and I think that that that in and of itself.

00:10:46.26
Mike
Right.

00:10:49.03
Bill
So, you know, so take a look at. It us maybe we're um I mean, I think we're doing, you know, most of the right things most of the time. At least that's our that's our attempt.

00:10:57.30
Mike
Yeah.

00:10:59.03
Bill
And that's our that's our desire to do that, you know, um as opposed to literally, you know, 16 years ago as, you know, before, you know, again, that that last six months or so or even, you know, four or five months before we got sober.

00:10:59.42
Mike
Sure.

00:11:02.10
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.

00:11:12.86
Bill
um I I know I thought I deserved a lucky break.

00:11:18.36
Mike
oh Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I know. I demanded it.

00:11:22.42
Bill
um But I i believe, if I remember correctly, the things that I was doing and the way that I was living my life, um all the lucky breaks were falling over there because I was over here in the I'm going to fuck everything up lane.

00:11:37.53
Mike
Right.

00:11:38.26
Bill
i wasn't I wasn't in the lucky break lane.

00:11:41.53
Mike
No.

00:11:41.58
Bill
um Not that I would receive everything in the lucky break lane, but to your point, you know you've got to be at least doing the right things to be in that you know in that hemisphere, which I was, again, I was over in the, I'm going to fuck everything up you know thing.

00:11:51.58
Mike
and

00:11:55.26
Mike
Yeah, right.

00:11:55.69
Bill
and And then like you said,

00:11:56.41
Mike
The gutter.

00:11:59.03
Bill
Yeah, and lucky breaks were not we're not flowing down the gutter.

00:12:02.87
Mike
They were not. Right.

00:12:05.24
Bill
Don't smell that that's in the gutter. speaking of Speaking of that, don't smell that.

00:12:10.65
Mike
right

00:12:10.76
Bill
um So, yeah, I mean, that was that was that part of it. But, you know, the the other thing, too, and i in the same thing, and that's why I was thinking about the lucky break, which I was just – the initial thought was – we're doing all this different work.

00:12:23.86
Bill
Nothing comes by chance, blah blah, blah, blah, blah.

00:12:25.78
Mike
me

00:12:26.02
Bill
But, you know, to your point, yes. I mean, every once in a while, there are things that are just that good fortune is going to come our way that that we either, well, hopefully it didn't expect if it's truly good fortune type of thing, you know, or a lucky break.

00:12:33.58
Mike
Right.

00:12:39.66
Bill
But on top of that, that even if we sat down and thought about it, I don't know. I mean, I i had nothing to do with this thing that happened to me With the exception of I'm um i'm out here, you know, trying to live a good life.

00:12:50.66
Bill
So, hey, every once in a while, I i get a gimme and so do you. Maybe. Right.

00:12:54.85
Mike
Right. Absolutely.

00:12:59.68
Bill
OK.

00:13:01.11
Mike
yeah

00:13:02.04
Bill
So after the there was a lucky break and then there was something else practicing the lucky break and then those one other piece to it. Right.

00:13:10.10
Mike
Receive a little help.

00:13:11.86
Bill
Oh, okay. So, um and I don't know. I mean, the, the thank you, the thank you part of it. Yes. I mean, if I, if somebody helps me, um I mean, I, again, a lucky break. Am I going to thank my higher power?

00:13:22.73
Bill
I guess I don't really think about it that way, you know, but if, if somebody gives me help, I mean, there's no doubt these days, I, I would feel, I would feel stupid.

00:13:24.88
Mike
Hmm.

00:13:31.87
Bill
I would feel bad if I didn't say thank you, if somebody helped me do something, you know?

00:13:35.75
Mike
Oh, absolutely. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right. I mean, yeah, I, you know, appreciate, i mean, ah you know, a big part of of, recovery is, you know, doing for others, being of service, all that good stuff.

00:13:46.49
Mike
But the the flip side of that, and it's, you know, I'm certainly better at it now, but I mean, you know Early recovery, it was all about you know giving it out and and and trying to be helpful to other people.

00:13:59.16
Mike
But I've also got to remember that I have to be grateful for when people help me because you know that's helping them. And I've got to remember that.

00:14:07.09
Bill
Right.

00:14:08.04
Mike
you know because i mean yeah Clearly, a huge part of my problem was being a taker all those years. and You know, but um so, you know, again, balance.

00:14:20.87
Mike
Ooh, there's that goddamn word again.

00:14:22.78
Bill
yeah

00:14:23.00
Mike
um But yes, you know, I can't be a taker, but I also have to be gracious and and grateful when someone does something for me because I have to realize that that's helping them. That's making them a better person. And that's, you know, i have I have to play my part in that too.

00:14:41.49
Bill
Right. Well, and and one of the things I wrote down, which is from the the beginning of the reading, um i mean, obviously it said saying thank you has a lot of meaning, but it said it takes work to be kind.

00:14:51.10
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:14:52.88
Bill
And I was thinking of it on on our side of things, obviously, that we got to work to be kind. But I just thought about it when when you were just saying that when somebody else does something for us, we've got to realize that, yeah I mean, yes, it helps them.

00:14:58.21
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:15:01.30
Mike
Right.

00:15:04.95
Bill
And also it takes it takes just as much, maybe not just as much, but it takes effort on.

00:15:09.18
Mike
Yeah, probably not quite as much. Because it takes a lot of effort on my part.

00:15:12.50
Bill
yeah

00:15:14.19
Mike
Yeah.

00:15:14.58
Bill
I know. As soon as I said that, because there's just some people out there that are that are just genuinely kind and don't really have to think twice about it.

00:15:20.47
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:15:21.74
Bill
But so but one one way or the other, it does take work for people to to do you know do kind things for us.

00:15:22.14
Mike
Right.

00:15:27.58
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:15:28.54
Bill
So you know to your exact point, we've got to remember that not only does it help them, but also realize that, yeah, it it takes work.

00:15:29.10
Mike
Right.

00:15:35.50
Bill
And I mean, are we...

00:15:36.02
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:15:37.59
Bill
Again, maybe not deserve it saying that I deserve it or do we deserve it or whatever. But I mean, we we are the recipients.

00:15:42.12
Mike
Right.

00:15:43.71
Bill
So we're we're gracious enough to be the recipients of that kindness.

00:15:46.29
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:15:46.87
Bill
So yeah, I mean, you know, fucking say thank you. God damn it.

00:15:49.98
Mike
Hell yeah. Yeah, absolutely.

00:15:53.24
Bill
But there was a part in there too that talked about that, you know, obviously it said, um, ah hard to say, you know, obviously hard to say thank you, but it said we were too busy feeling shame, anger, and there was a couple of other things in there.

00:16:04.98
Bill
And is that, do you think that that goes back to, you know, hopefully to to us prior to, you know, that this whole sobriety thing that, um, you know, we were too busy and too wrapped up in our own brains and our own bullshit, you know, to, okay.

00:16:16.70
Mike
yeah absolutely

00:16:19.40
Bill
Yeah. To be even say, thank you.

00:16:19.90
Mike
Yeah, right.

00:16:20.80
Bill
Okay.

00:16:21.54
Mike
Yeah, exactly. and and And of course, the line right after it is, so what? Get over it.

00:16:26.26
Bill
Right.

00:16:28.89
Mike
No excuses.

00:16:30.23
Bill
yeah And you know what? I, there's, there's certain things with, that with these readings that some of the, some of the readings are so um I'll say heartfelt and, and just heartfelt.

00:16:41.60
Bill
And, you know, I mean, all of them, I suppose are genuine, but you know, so heartfelt and down to earth and just all this, you know, kind of, kind of soft and in almost loving, but then every once in a while it's like, you don't like this.

00:16:45.15
Mike
Sure.

00:16:50.63
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:16:52.96
Bill
So what? Yeah.

00:16:54.04
Mike
Yeah, exactly. Especially in God grant me, that's probably why it's my favorite book.

00:16:57.05
Bill
ah

00:16:58.16
Mike
Yes, they will drop those in there.

00:16:58.62
Bill
Right.

00:16:59.48
Mike
Yeah, get over your badass.

00:17:03.48
Bill
get over yourself. You're not that fucking important to begin with.

00:17:06.79
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:17:07.00
Bill
So it's certainly not that important, uh, you know, under, under any circumstance, but, uh, but yeah, that, that is, I mean, being so wrapped up in, you know, in, uh, we've talked about it before, so wrapped up in our shit that, yeah we do something wrong.

00:17:19.61
Bill
We can't apologize. Or we just say, we're sorry again.

00:17:21.30
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:17:23.49
Bill
and you know, God forbid the, the person that we said that to doesn't accept it.

00:17:24.17
Mike
Right.

00:17:27.45
Bill
We're like, well, fuck you then. i won't say you're sorry. You know, and we don't say thank you.

00:17:29.79
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:17:31.01
Bill
And we wonder why people get upset or don't want to help us anymore, you know, because we don't, we don't feel appreciative, you know, or don't, don't show, you know, that, that appreciation.

00:17:34.55
Mike
Right.

00:17:38.23
Mike
Yeah.

00:17:39.68
Bill
But I mean, seriously, how fucking hard is it to say, say thank you to somebody, you know, it,

00:17:43.99
Mike
Right. Exactly. You know, and it's pretty easy. And I mean, I'm, I'm pretty good at it. You know, hell, I stopped on the way here to, uh, you know, take a pish and, uh, you know, whatever, stretch my legs about halfway. And, you know, I was walking into the the travel plaza, whatever the fuck it was. And yeah, you know, there was a lady and her kid in front of me and, you know, she went to open the door to let her kid in and, and she paused half a second to keep the door open for me. and yeah, of course I said, thank you.

00:18:15.86
Mike
You know, I, I, and I truly appreciated it.

00:18:15.89
Bill
Right.

00:18:18.88
Mike
I mean, she could have, you know, not taken that half a second pause and kept going and I had to grab the door and opened it and, you know, yeah, it'd have been fine. It wouldn't have been all the way closed, but yeah, You know, I appreciated that she took that beat and kept the door for me.

00:18:35.13
Mike
You know, it was nice. Yeah. I said, thank you.

00:18:36.89
Bill
well

00:18:37.33
Mike
And then, you know, fuck you. Your kid's ugly. And then we moved on with our lives.

00:18:40.02
Bill
ah

00:18:41.13
Mike
Yeah,

00:18:42.49
Bill
yeah What I was going to say is that, you know, even looking the way that you do, she held the door open for you.

00:18:48.09
Mike
exactly.

00:18:48.30
Bill
You know, I don't mean that in a bad way.

00:18:48.63
Mike
Hmm.

00:18:50.48
Bill
You're not an unattractive individual. You just have a, you command a certain presence with your outfits and, you know, your earrings.

00:18:55.80
Mike
Sure.

00:18:58.04
Bill
And mean, you're all covered up so can't see all the tattoos. But, you know, I could easily.

00:19:00.92
Mike
Right. It's cold out there.

00:19:02.58
Bill
Yeah.

00:19:03.64
Mike
Right.

00:19:03.78
Bill
Right.

00:19:03.94
Mike
Yeah. Right.

00:19:04.80
Bill
I could easily see, especially, you know, some female with her young child being like, man, I'm going to try to get inside this joint.

00:19:07.99
Mike
Right. Right.

00:19:11.09
Bill
This fucking maniac's coming up on me. i don't know who this dick is, who this dude is.

00:19:13.68
Mike
Mm-hmm. right

00:19:16.61
Bill
But um yeah, and we we've talked about that so many times. And that's usually, that is the, one of the perfect examples is being at um a gas station or a travel plaza and that sort of thing.

00:19:27.26
Bill
I know you spend, you know, a lot of time, you know, not spend a lot of time, but end up at them.

00:19:30.85
Mike
Right.

00:19:31.42
Bill
And so do I i mean, I end up at, you know, travel plazas a lot now.

00:19:35.19
Mike
okay

00:19:35.42
Bill
um And I, I used to also on the, on the toll road, I'd stop at, you know, the, know, those places, but um yeah, it's just, it's, it, it,

00:19:39.29
Mike
Right.

00:19:43.45
Bill
I don't know. Everyone's in their own, in their own fucking world. And I mean, I am too. I've got places to be and people to see, and I got all this shit on my mind. um but I mean, I'm not special, you know?

00:19:53.73
Bill
So why, what is, what is my, my life circumstance means nothing to anyone around me, you know, unless it's affecting them openly, you know, I guess let's, let's take that part of it.

00:19:53.80
Mike
Right.

00:20:00.84
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right.

00:20:05.13
Bill
But in a general sense, my life circumstance or whatever my, my quote unquote, here's air quotes, troubles are, um Nobody gives a fuck, number one.

00:20:13.43
Mike
Exactly.

00:20:13.48
Bill
And and why not why not for me, maybe I'll make myself feel better by actually you know doing one of those little minor random acts of kindness, right?

00:20:14.32
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:20:23.63
Mike
Yep. Yeah, right. Exactly. You know, I mean, you know, I don't like people passing me on the road because I'm moving along at a decent clip and whatever. But, you know, sometimes you got to back off and let somebody in, you know.

00:20:40.98
Mike
Yeah.

00:20:41.02
Bill
Right.

00:20:42.21
Mike
Occasionally I do. And then occasionally some motherfucker doesn't do it for me and it pisses me off. But, you know, then two seconds later, it's over with. I don't care.

00:20:51.42
Bill
hey

00:20:51.80
Mike
I swing around him and blow past him and I'm ahead of you anyway.

00:20:52.25
Bill
Right.

00:20:57.88
Bill
Yeah, I had it was so funny. I got off. um Where was I coming back from? I think last weekend I went up to um that basic I'll call it a walking trail, but the hiking trail, that coffee creek that I go to.

00:21:08.74
Bill
And a lot of times I'll i'll run up there first and I'll go.

00:21:10.78
Mike
Wait, wait, wait. There's a creek made of coffee. Where's this at?

00:21:13.22
Bill
It it's fucking it's fucking awesome.

00:21:13.38
Mike
I want to go.

00:21:15.08
Bill
like Do you pay attention? do you ever do follow me on social media?

00:21:18.52
Mike
Not really. don't follow anybody.

00:21:19.54
Bill
I know. I know. But no, it's it's called it that nature preserve that I go to all the time. But yeah, Coffee Creek. I've had plenty of people say they're like, God, I would go there just for the name.

00:21:30.10
Mike
Right.

00:21:30.19
Bill
um But I went and I did, I think it was on Sunday, I had to finish up whatever I was doing. And i did a little walk there and then was cruising down and I had to go to Walmart. So I was going down, um, 49 and then got off 49 and to get into Walmart there.

00:21:45.58
Bill
Um, I mean, you are going across, you know, two lanes of traffic and then into a left turn lane after this. So theoretically you're, you're moving over three lanes ultimately, you know, But when when I got off the highway, um you know, I mean, i'm I'm going down the down the off ramp and i'm I'm looking and I don't see any cars coming.

00:21:50.63
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:21:53.34
Mike
Right. Right.

00:22:02.66
Bill
I see one. I get in behind these cars. Everything's clear. I didn't do this. You know, this complete like I'm a dick cut across. I slowly moved myself over. And I was behind this guy in the far right line for a minute and then moved over and then get into the turn lane.

00:22:19.43
Bill
And then I end up that this guy's coming up and he's kind of beside me and he's just he's just staring at me like he's pissed and kind of like you know looking at me like, what the fuck did you do? i was behind him, okay?

00:22:29.95
Mike
Mm. Right.

00:22:32.38
Bill
I did not cut him off. um Maybe I got a little bit close, but I mean, it was the, it was, it it was a red light. All this traffic was coming up.

00:22:39.71
Mike
Yeah.

00:22:40.71
Bill
I didn't come up hard on him. you know, i didn't come in hot, you know, so he's just staring at me.

00:22:42.71
Mike
Mm hmm. Right.

00:22:45.58
Bill
So, you know what i did? I just kind of like, um I don't know, the, like, like Tom Hanks and Forrest Gump when he's, when he's waving to Bubba.

00:22:52.12
Mike
Yeah. Uh huh.

00:22:52.95
Bill
I waved to him that way. That's exactly what I did. I'm just like, this fucking stupid ass wave with a big old dumb smile on my face.

00:22:56.63
Mike
Hi.

00:22:59.89
Bill
He just looked away at him.

00:23:00.21
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:23:01.11
Bill
Because, I mean, he probably expected me to flip him off. and And part of me was like, what are you looking at, you fucking idiot?

00:23:04.47
Mike
Sure.

00:23:07.53
Bill
But I just waved at him stupid and he didn't know what to do with himself.

00:23:08.09
Mike
course.

00:23:11.32
Bill
So...

00:23:12.65
Mike
didn't Yep. Sometimes the most annoying thing you can be is happy and kind.

00:23:18.07
Bill
Yeah. and Kind of like, well, why are you looking at me? I didn't fucking do anything. I did nothing at all. Did nothing wrong. I don't know what your fucking problem is, but all right.

00:23:25.69
Mike
Right.

00:23:27.22
Bill
So um I suppose I should just say thank you.

00:23:31.13
Mike
Yes, and I will accept it graciously.

00:23:34.20
Bill
Yeah, exactly. So um anything else, anything else in the reading that that jumped out that at you or anything else that we missed?

00:23:40.94
Mike
No, don't think so. You know, just get the fuck over it. so

00:23:44.09
Bill
ah Get the fuck over it and say fucking thank you. That's that's it.

00:23:49.14
Mike
Exactly.

00:23:50.42
Bill
oh How goddamn difficult is it, right?

00:23:54.10
Mike
Not very.

00:23:56.41
Bill
All right. So the, and I don't know, I don't know if this, we really have a plan for this whole gratitude, you know, episode thing here, but I probably, probably not, I guess.

00:24:02.94
Mike
i dead we I don't.

00:24:05.59
Bill
No, I know.

00:24:06.14
Mike
excuse

00:24:06.19
Bill
And you know, the the thing of it is then, I guess let's, let's just, maybe we'll let's address this in in ah in a general sense and let's go on and do what we always do or whatever we feel like. um It's, I don't know, from a, from a general standpoint is it's hard for us to have, it it almost seems like,

00:24:23.51
Bill
it seems difficult to try to plan. Let's talk about gratitude. You know, um that's number one, because we don't really have, I mean, yeah, somebody dies or something fucking weird happens.

00:24:33.94
Bill
We'll have an idea of what we're going talk about. But we just don't do, we really don't do topic episodes, you know?

00:24:36.07
Mike
Right.

00:24:40.61
Mike
Right.

00:24:41.40
Bill
So I guess it it just, it felt weird as I was about to say that.

00:24:41.63
Mike
Yeah.

00:24:44.08
Bill
I know the first time we did a gratitude episode, we tried to, we were trying to, I know, really hard to just make it all gratitude stuff.

00:24:49.24
Mike
c

00:24:49.64
Bill
And if I remember correctly, it was, it was fucking laborious, you know? Right.

00:24:53.02
Mike
Yeah. exactly Yeah. I mean, and as far as gratitude goes, I mean, you know, it's... It's part of our lives. I mean, you know, at at the end of the day, I mean, that was that was an early one, you know, habit to get into and and lesson learned and all that stuff.

00:25:00.82
Bill
Right.

00:25:09.61
Mike
You know, at the end of the day. Well, ah first of all, thank you, Marty. Grateful drunks don't drink.

00:25:15.74
Bill
Right.

00:25:16.66
Mike
um So, you know, every day find something to be grateful for, you know, no matter how shitty your day was, how many bad moments you had throughout the day. There's always something to be grateful for. And sometimes it's a little harder to find than other days, but it's there.

00:25:35.64
Mike
Find it. Do the work. Find that thing that you're grateful for every day. And I mean, you know, I know you do and I do too. End of the day, man. I mean, that's part of my my routine, my ritual at the end of the day, you know, doing the 10th step and all that stuff in the p prints and But yes, you know, being grateful for people in my life and and sometimes things, you know, sometimes sometimes I got to lay back and go, fuck, man, I got some nice stuff.

00:26:06.12
Mike
ah And I'm grateful for it

00:26:06.45
Bill
Right.

00:26:09.02
Mike
um You know, but that's ah clearly not the most important things. It's the people and the relationships and all that stuff. and And yeah, that is part of the routine is is taking a look at that every goddamn day because I want to be grateful because I'm a drunk and I don't want to drink.

00:26:26.07
Bill
Right. Yeah, I agree. And the, you know, the other, the other thing too, is that, and I hope, like you said, it's a, it's, it's part of what we do. It's something we learned, um you know, very, very early on.

00:26:35.14
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:26:36.74
Bill
And my, my hope and hopefully, well, my hope and I think our hope is that people that listen to us and people that know us hopefully, you know, can see that there's some gratitude there because, If we're doing this thing right, the way that we act, the way that we speak, gratitude is an action word.

00:26:42.64
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:26:51.22
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:26:57.45
Bill
We talk about that all the time. The things that we are doing in our lives on a daily basis, you know, do show the gratitude. And and again, I say, hopefully that's that's evident.

00:27:07.53
Bill
It doesn't mean that, you know, we need to, I'm not looking for a pat on the back to like, Hey, email us at info at sobernotmature.com.

00:27:13.51
Mike
Right. No. Right. You can tell us how great we are.

00:27:14.89
Bill
Tell us how you think we're grateful.

00:27:17.21
Mike
Right.

00:27:18.23
Bill
No, we don't need, we don't fucking need that either. We didn't need your thoughts and goddamn prayers when I had a heart attack.

00:27:20.71
Mike
metaphorically. Right.

00:27:23.23
Bill
We don't need, we don't need you to tell us how great fucking grateful we are.

00:27:23.65
Mike
Yes. Yes.

00:27:27.51
Bill
um You know, so,

00:27:28.41
Mike
he tell us how great we are

00:27:29.88
Bill
Now that's a different story.

00:27:32.06
Mike
right

00:27:32.16
Bill
Info at sober, not mature. If you'd like to stroke our penises, you know, I mean, hypothetically, metaphorically, not hypothetically, metaphorically,

00:27:37.14
Mike
ah metaphorically yes

00:27:44.70
Bill
metaphorically stroke my penis and his too.

00:27:47.06
Mike
Yes. Right.

00:27:48.76
Bill
his too it's It's okay. It's okay, Chris. It's metaphorically. It's it's all right.

00:27:52.41
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:27:53.08
Bill
But, um,

00:27:53.21
Mike
right

00:27:54.52
Bill
But yeah, but so I'm just saying that hopefully it comes across that way. So my I guess my my thought was that we we shouldn't have to sit down and be like, okay, let's let's have a whole episode you know directed towards gratitude.

00:28:05.98
Bill
But um there's, I mean, we do have a lot to be grateful for. And the thing of it is being grateful, um like like you just said, these bad moments and whatever the case is, there's always something grateful for. And, you know, I was talking a little bit about work before we were watching the football game.

00:28:15.66
Mike
Right.

00:28:20.47
Bill
And literally, i mean I'm coming off ah the worst month I've ever had at this job.

00:28:20.65
Mike
Right.

00:28:24.83
Bill
And it's ah my my commissions this this month are fucked. And I mean, that's where part of my, a good part of my income can come can come from.

00:28:32.68
Mike
Right.

00:28:32.73
Bill
And, you know, um I get all grumbly and stuff like that. You know, I've been grumbly about it, you know, over the last, you know, probably week leading up to this, the end of the month.

00:28:35.30
Mike
ccc

00:28:40.05
Bill
And, You know, the um regardless how grumbly am when I'm sitting down at night to do that 10 step in those prayers, I don't focus on it because I can't.

00:28:47.36
Mike
Mm-hmm. Mm.

00:28:49.49
Bill
I can't do that to myself. Number one, I need to sleep. And number two, I can't do anything about it.

00:28:52.83
Mike
Right.

00:28:54.65
Bill
So why why even whatever? But here's the other thing is that, um I mean, yes, I'm grateful I have a job.

00:28:56.66
Mike
Yeah.

00:29:00.58
Bill
Yes, I'm grateful I'm employable. Yes, I'm grateful that I have opportunities.

00:29:02.61
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:29:04.22
Bill
But the main thing is, is that I know that even though things are are a little fucked up right now for me on the work side of things and, you know, could be a little fucked up on the financial side of things, which I don't like.

00:29:12.59
Mike
Right?

00:29:15.93
Bill
And outside of my doing, I'm not trying, I'm not doing bad things, you know, to make this happen. I'm not drinking and, you know, it's not it's not cocaine and hookers yet.

00:29:24.41
Mike
Damn. Yeah. All right.

00:29:27.77
Bill
No, it's not. I don't need to go to that, you know, but, um, but one way or the other, I know that if what I need to do, I need to keep doing the next right thing.

00:29:30.33
Mike
now

00:29:36.82
Bill
The same thing we've been taught. I need to be grateful for the things that I have in my life and my life itself. And then the shit will work out. it It'll work out. If I, if I lose focus on any of that, and if I stop, that's what you always say, right? Don't stop.

00:29:51.38
Mike
Yeah.

00:29:51.72
Bill
Right.

00:29:52.42
Mike
Yep.

00:29:53.08
Bill
So if I stopped and I'm fucked, so it doesn't matter. I mean that the shit that I'm going through, i will, I will go through it and I'll come out on the other side.

00:29:59.66
Mike
Yeah, exactly. It will. Yeah. It's not going to last forever. And hell, it's not even, you know, it's not every second of every day. It's, you know moments.

00:30:09.69
Bill
Right.

00:30:09.94
Mike
Right.

00:30:10.05
Bill
Exactly. Exactly.

00:30:10.71
Mike
Yeah, it is. You know, and then you step away and you look around and you go, eh, shit ain't that bad.

00:30:16.12
Bill
Yeah. And, you know, again, one one way or the other, mean, i I'm resourceful. I'll fucking figure it out, man. You know, and ah and I will.

00:30:21.09
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:30:22.83
Bill
And I mean, one way the other, i will I will figure it out. So, and it will work itself out with my help. I got to keep moving forward.

00:30:28.90
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:30:29.79
Bill
I can't just sit back and wait for these good tidings to fall in my lap.

00:30:30.08
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm. Yeah, right.

00:30:33.67
Bill
Hey, I'm over here in the lucky break lane.

00:30:33.88
Mike
o

00:30:36.23
Bill
Where is my...

00:30:36.60
Mike
yeah right

00:30:38.30
Bill
Where's mine motherfuckers? yeah But anyhow, so, so yeah, we're, we can, we can ease some gratitude in here like we always do. But I think that's a good point.

00:30:49.62
Bill
We, we shouldn't have to, you know, just sit back and focus on just to be like, we're going to be grateful now. Let's go.

00:30:56.15
Mike
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

00:30:58.04
Bill
All right. So, um, one thing that I, that I wrote down, and this is something that we have talked about before, but I, um, in, in probably, I don't even want to say probably, I know for a fact, this came up with exactly what I was just talking about.

00:31:10.86
Bill
And I forgot that I wrote this down. Um, so yeah, I mean, you know, a situation like this, it's easy for me to get just angry in general when shit's not going my way. Um, you know, and everything that I just explained, it's easy to have a little bit of anger and stuff like that, but yeah, It made me think about, because i as I was walking, and i remember specifically a couple of days ago, I'm downstairs walking and in the basement, you know, get some steps in and do it whatever.

00:31:33.75
Bill
And and i'm like I'm like, God, you know, I'm i'm fucking, I'm irritated, you know, but is it justifiable?

00:31:34.18
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:31:39.77
Bill
So that's what i that's what I wrote down. We've talked about it before, but justifiable anger. Okay. So first of all, um what is it? Is there any, so is there such a thing as justifiable anger in your opinion?

00:31:50.59
Bill
And how do we handle something that we could or should be, I don't even say should be, it could be justifiably angry about.

00:31:59.29
Mike
I mean, yeah, there clearly certain things that are just wrong. And yeah, you know, that pisses me off. That's, you know, whatever people as actions or yeah yeah, right.

00:32:11.35
Mike
It's just, it's just wrong. It's bad. It's, I hate the word evil because whatever good evil. um But yeah, there are things that are truly wrong.

00:32:17.30
Bill
Right.

00:32:21.06
Mike
And um the, you know, the, the, The preponderance of it pisses me off. The acceptance of it pisses me off. um So, I mean, as far as that goes, yes.

00:32:35.51
Mike
um Other people's acceptance of of bad things, yes, that pisses me off. And I think that's... fairly justifiable. um But again, it comes down to, you know, what can I control? What do I have power over? People, places, and things.

00:32:53.31
Mike
Not fucking powerless. um I can't stop anyone from doing wrong things.

00:32:55.99
Bill
Right. Right.

00:32:59.14
Mike
I can i could not be around them um But if somebody wants to do something wrong, and I'm a wonderful example of that, ah they're going to do it because I did lots of wrong things for a very long time.

00:33:12.76
Mike
um But yeah, you know, again, then it comes down to, okay, so why am I allowing it in my life? Why am I being around it? um You know, I'm not going to stop it, but I don't, I'm certainly not going to condone it and I'm not going to be around it.

00:33:29.46
Mike
um Keeping my side of the street clean, you know, I'm not going to do those wrong things. That's about the only thing I have power over is my own actions. Um, you know, so yeah, you know, yes, I could be angry at, at the wrongs of the world, but, um, as long as I'm not participating in them, um, fuck man, focus on the good, you know, again, focus, find the good.

00:33:37.97
Bill
Right. Right.

00:33:54.68
Mike
It is there. Um, sometimes you got to dig a few few feet down to find it, but, yeah but it's there,

00:34:00.66
Bill
right Right. Well, and that was ah that was a thing I was thinking about, you know, because, I mean, you're right. there There are things going on, whether it be, you know, individuals or collective groups or the world in general, whatever the case is.

00:34:14.46
Mike
Right.

00:34:16.01
Bill
I mean, yeah, it's it would be it would be ridiculous to say that there's nothing in life that's worth getting angry over, okay?

00:34:16.24
Mike
Right.

00:34:24.46
Bill
But, To your point, though, is that um to to what extent, right?

00:34:24.47
Mike
is

00:34:29.16
Bill
You know, into what um to what level and and also to to what extent am I not only not just what extent am I going to get angry, but to what extent am I going allow it to affect me?

00:34:29.40
Mike
Right.

00:34:40.38
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:34:40.47
Bill
And and to to your point also, can if you have no control over, which we I think we you just said that, right? We have no control over people.

00:34:47.41
Mike
Right.

00:34:48.91
Bill
What was that again? People, places, and what?

00:34:50.01
Mike
People, places, and things.

00:34:53.43
Bill
And there's no no control over any of those things, correct?

00:34:56.76
Mike
Correct. Right.

00:34:58.17
Bill
I fucking say that to myself four times a day. It's twice in my, or two tour two times a day? Yeah. I'm sorry. it's It's in my prayers, you know, top to bottom or beginning and end of my day. So I, outside of even saying it to myself, normally guaranteed.

00:35:12.37
Bill
I tell, I remind myself of that fucking twice a day.

00:35:14.30
Mike
right

00:35:14.73
Bill
So I, you know, it's still, I don't get it sometimes, but So what is, to what extent am I going allow that to affect me? What, what can I do to change it? And to your point, and I think it's, it's great when you had said that you said this a number of episodes ago was I don't need to be, and you said you're for or yourself and I agree with you.

00:35:32.92
Bill
I don't need to be around that person. I have the right to walk away. I have the ability to walk away from that person.

00:35:37.32
Mike
Yep. Uh-huh.

00:35:38.92
Bill
And the other thing too is if this person, if if there's anyone in this world, in this life, that's lighting up my life and and making me angry and literally physically or emotionally affecting my life, whose fucking fault is that, right?

00:35:52.41
Mike
Mm-hmm. Yup. Exactly. Uh-huh.

00:35:56.02
Bill
Go look in the mirror, motherfucker. It's you. Because again, i think we just talked about is we can't control these other fucking people. These other goddamn places are silly things.

00:36:04.37
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:36:06.66
Bill
And then going to let it ruin my day.

00:36:12.60
Mike
Right.

00:36:13.66
Bill
really

00:36:13.75
Mike
and it And by extension, ruined the day of the people around me that they probably don't have anything to do with it.

00:36:21.75
Bill
I didn't even think about that. Yeah. So I'm not just going to fuck myself up. I'm going fuck all, fuck those around me up.

00:36:26.55
Mike
sir

00:36:27.73
Bill
Huh?

00:36:27.82
Mike
yep

00:36:28.50
Bill
And I probably, ah Jesus Christ. This is.

00:36:30.62
Mike
right and and and to what extent is my anger making things better right which is you know right i mean okay this thing is wrong it's pissing me off okay so this anger what am i going to do with it is it making the situation better is it is it is it a yeah Again, no power over that other person doing wrong things.

00:36:31.22
Bill
Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. if

00:36:50.23
Mike
So my anger isn't even affecting them anyway. So it's kind of worthless.

00:36:56.79
Bill
And I'll only laugh it because it's so fucking ridiculous when you say it out loud.

00:36:59.26
Mike
Yeah, you're right.

00:37:00.19
Bill
You're like, you're like well, yeah, no shit. I mean, like, like why why are you talking about this?

00:37:02.46
Mike
Right.

00:37:04.43
Bill
Because it's so fucking elementary. This makes a goddamn sense. Of of course. Oh, Jesus Christ. That was funny.

00:37:14.86
Bill
It was actually really, it was really fucking funny. Um, but yeah, I mean, it so, uh, I guess that let's let's wrap up this justifiable, justifiable anger stuff.

00:37:23.80
Mike
o

00:37:23.85
Bill
Um, yeah, you could be angry all you fucking want, but you know, how, how upset do you want to be and how, how fucked up do you want your life to be?

00:37:27.20
Mike
Sure.

00:37:31.13
Bill
I guess is the the answer to that question.

00:37:32.44
Mike
Exactly. How, how, right. just So two wrongs, right?

00:37:37.27
Bill
yeah

00:37:37.56
Mike
What do they add up to? Uh-huh.

00:37:39.70
Bill
that'll That'll leave it everything out, make everything wonderful, I've heard, right?

00:37:43.15
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:37:45.62
Bill
Oh, it's so fucking great. That is so fucking wonderful. Thank you. these ah These are the conversations that I really liked.

00:37:49.58
Mike
Sure.

00:37:52.17
Bill
The ones that I sit there and I just, I started laughing because it's so fucking ridiculous that when you start to you know, when it just, we start talking about this stuff out loud, I'm like, God, why, why is this even a topic?

00:37:57.14
Mike
Mm

00:38:02.14
Bill
You know, why, how could this even be? Speaking of, I'll bet you that, uh, I bet you that's probably, I'm Shelly if I'm not mistaken.

00:38:11.76
Mike
We're getting dogs in like quadraphonic now.

00:38:11.96
Bill
But, uh, he Yeah. Oh, you know, it was just kind of funny. It literally wasn't even clicking in my head that you were in literally over in the house too.

00:38:22.11
Bill
Okay.

00:38:22.30
Mike
if excuse

00:38:22.55
Bill
Everyone sit back and enjoy this symphony of four, of four dogs on Thanksgiving day. Everyone.

00:38:28.69
Mike
Four dogs and two microphones.

00:38:31.13
Bill
yeah Where's our turntables? ah Okay, good, good. somebody Somebody calm them down. But, yeah, so we've got, yeah, our sister's three dogs, and then our niece's dog, Bentley, is here.

00:38:44.69
Bill
who's He's lovely. He's wonderful. But, yeah, you get all get all four of them up, you know, in in a situation like that.

00:38:46.52
Mike
Yes.

00:38:50.13
Bill
i think that was Kathy's friend, Shelly, that's probably coming over. so But, um anyhow, so I think we handled the whole justifiable anger thing, right?

00:38:54.64
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:38:58.78
Bill
Yeah.

00:38:59.26
Mike
I believe we did.

00:39:01.11
Bill
So um this was from, and this is just, ah again, I wrote this down this week, but um this is kind of ah a paragraph. It's a longish thing. And just, I guess, just allow me to get to my point. Okay.

00:39:11.19
Mike
All right. I'm going to sit back now and not be hunched over my microphone for a minute.

00:39:12.44
Bill
guess Because as I was is a but starting to read through this again, I'm like, this is a lot, but I do have a point.

00:39:15.87
Mike
Thank you.

00:39:21.30
Bill
Okay. So, This was from God Grant Me. He was talking about steps four through nine, which just so everyone knows that comes up every once in a while, they'll focus on steps every once in a while, a set of. um So it says, first of all, we have to sort out the baggage of our old life in step four. Then we show the baggage to someone in step five. Simple enough, right?

00:39:42.87
Bill
And then um getting advice about what to take with us into our new life and what to let go.

00:39:42.90
Mike
Right.

00:39:48.55
Bill
That's all in step five. This is the part that is you know kind of what I want to talk about. It said in steps six and seven, we repack our bags for our new life.

00:39:58.71
Bill
So in step eight and nine, we clean up our we clean up our old life.

00:39:58.97
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:40:02.35
Bill
I think we're all on the same page with all this stuff, right?

00:40:04.90
Mike
Right.

00:40:05.40
Bill
But my question with this, and I, again, I've read the Scott Grant Me book for probably 10 or 11 years, if not longer than that, is that, you know, you and I talk about, um we do, there certain steps that we, that we are working, whether we know it or not, or whether we focus on or not on a daily basis.

00:40:22.55
Bill
And it's our opinion that we work on clearly where our working steps six and seven on a daily basis.

00:40:22.87
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:40:28.47
Bill
So,

00:40:29.06
Mike
Hopefully.

00:40:29.75
Bill
If that be the case, um are we kind of repacking our bags every day? You see what I mean?

00:40:36.79
Mike
Hmm. Yeah.

00:40:38.17
Bill
Because it's like, you know, we're we're doing all these things normally.

00:40:38.23
Mike
yeah

00:40:40.54
Bill
And it was kind of a pondering moment. I'm like, well, if we if we did that, we're repacking shit to go forward in our lives. If we're working that, I don't know. Is that does that make sense? Are we actually doing that on a daily basis?

00:40:51.97
Mike
I'm yeah, you know, I mean, um yeah, you doing step 10 to take a look at what's in your bag and, you know, and then you go back to six and seven and go, all right, well, this has got to go and this has got to go.

00:41:01.69
Bill
yeah

00:41:07.39
Mike
And and then you put the good stuff back in. So, yeah, I mean, you're constantly rearranging that bag, um I would think.

00:41:14.78
Bill
Right.

00:41:14.84
Mike
um Right. to to To move forward. I mean, that's, you know, a big part of six and seven. Well, OK, so four and five. Right. You do that that big inventory and figure out all the crap you got to get rid of. But, you know, um invariably, you know, we miss stuff and and and there's stuff that we think we need.

00:41:34.62
Mike
at that point in our recovery. um And so we have to, you know, take a look at it again, step 10, how'd I do today and blah, blah, blah. And yeah. So yeah, we're constantly rearranging that bag and taking things out and putting things back in. And, you know, as, as, as we get better, um, hopefully like the good stuff gets bigger.

00:41:56.89
Mike
So there's not as much room for the bad stuff. That's, that's the theory anyway.

00:42:02.12
Bill
Right.

00:42:02.30
Mike
Um, you so yeah, you know, uh, yeah, yeah. I would, I would think we're constantly rearranging things and, you know packing it in better, and bringing some stuff up to the top where it's you know closer and and then maybe burying some of the other stuff down towards the bottom.

00:42:19.80
Mike
ah That we'll deal with later. um Yeah, but you know at least the good stuff's sitting on top, so it's a little tougher to get to the bad stuff because it's wedged down there in the corner.

00:42:24.12
Bill
right

00:42:32.89
Mike
I don't know, man.

00:42:33.30
Bill
kid get kid kid

00:42:34.41
Mike
I'm frambling.

00:42:35.32
Bill
Get in the goddamn corner where you fucking belong.

00:42:38.38
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:42:39.22
Bill
So just for those of the the people out there that are listening and that maybe we're not are not step people, and i'm just so you know, i'm not this is not off the top of my head. I just looked at this.

00:42:48.01
Mike
Right.

00:42:48.04
Bill
I'm looking at the steps. So going to read these off, as as they said. So steps six and seven, and is steps six and seven, and this was why I asked it up. And it was a genuine question I thought would make an interesting topic.

00:42:58.88
Bill
So step six is being entirely ready to have God or our higher power remove all of our defects of character, these ones we've that we've identified.

00:43:04.50
Mike
All right.

00:43:07.84
Bill
And then in step seven, we're asking this higher power to remove those shortcomings. OK, so the key there is that um we and we've talked about on here and I'm not trying to dumb this down for people, but for those that are not familiar with the steps, we've talked about it on here is that we like Mike and I continue to have we have shortcomings.

00:43:26.31
Bill
We have things that we that we are you know still trying to work on, things that not necessarily bad things, but they're.

00:43:30.20
Mike
Absolutely. Yeah.

00:43:31.95
Bill
You know, defects, shortcomings, whatever you want to call them, that we've got to work on so they don't get, if nothing else, they're, they're minimized now where they used to be just magnified and just fuck it out in the open all the time.

00:43:41.54
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right. Yeah.

00:43:44.60
Bill
And, and

00:43:44.59
Mike
But, but the point is we're still working on them. We're still, yeah. Like I said, you know, the shit's still in the bag.

00:43:48.47
Bill
right.

00:43:53.49
Mike
We're just, uh, yeah. And we're trying to, you know, and again, it's a process, you know, that there's some of that stuff, you know, I don't, I kind of like, I don't want to, I really don't want to get rid of it.

00:44:03.03
Bill
hey

00:44:05.39
Mike
I know I should. um but, Yeah, you know, and eventually, you know, hopefully it'll be really small and in a very tiny corner. um Again, still working on it.

00:44:16.50
Mike
Drop that rock.

00:44:16.73
Bill
Right. Right. And I mean, and that's, the that's the whole point. That was the thing that, you know, we've talked about before that I didn't understand that I thought, I thought I did. And I completed six and seven. And you know, when I, when I moved on to, to my second, my second sponsor who ended up also being Mike's sponsor was our sponsor for years.

00:44:32.18
Mike
Right.

00:44:33.12
Bill
Um, Joe, we've talked about him plenty of times and he's like, no, would you understand why that's not true?

00:44:33.27
Mike
this Sure.

00:44:38.26
Bill
Yeah. come back and talk to me.

00:44:38.86
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:44:40.43
Bill
And now I get a joke.

00:44:40.76
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.

00:44:41.46
Bill
If you ever listen to this, what you know, you don't. But so that was just kind of an, in and I liked the way you put that because yes, I mean, these, if we're constantly, which we should be to your point, we're constantly working on these defects of character shortcomings, whatever you want, whatever you want to call them.

00:44:57.58
Bill
um Yeah. I mean, we're going have to rearrange that, you know, that, that luggage every once in a while. And yeah,

00:45:02.70
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:45:03.99
Bill
Whatever the case is, that the things that were that were glaring for us for the last, I don't know, let's say the last 30 days, those things are right up on top. you know Now, like you said, you could tuck those back into the corner until they fucking pop up again at some point, which they will, which they will.

00:45:14.27
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right, which they will.

00:45:18.88
Bill
And then wherere we're doing you know step 10, and you know we're like, I got fuck it. I got to fuck.

00:45:23.68
Mike
Yep,

00:45:24.08
Bill
God damn it. When I was wrong. When I was fucking wrong.

00:45:26.71
Mike
right. That stinky pair of socks down at the bottom of the bag. Uh-huh.

00:45:32.32
Bill
Yep, there they are again. got again I thought i thought i put that thought I put you away. I thought you were okay for now. I thought you were cleaned up, but apparently you were not.

00:45:38.93
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:45:40.95
Bill
But yeah, that's ah that's, I don't know, it was the whole baggage thing. because we I know we talk about this whole, that's such such a thing these days. Oh, there's a lot to unpack and unpack this and unpack that.

00:45:49.46
Mike
yeah

00:45:50.51
Bill
I i despise that. I really do.

00:45:52.84
Mike
Sure.

00:45:53.21
Bill
But in this case, I'll accept it because it makes sense to me. And I think I like it.

00:45:56.52
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:45:57.53
Bill
So I guess I'll i'll accept it. So quick side note, I just thought about this. And I and i talked about the the John Candy documentary. And i i don't remember, and I know it was from the morning show that I listened to, but I

00:46:05.59
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:46:10.52
Bill
For the life of me, I thought that one of the guys in there said that this this thing that I'm going to say was from the documentary, but I don't remember it. Kind of like at the end almost.

00:46:18.56
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:46:19.50
Bill
and i And I did. I think I watched the end of it where I saw, you know, outtakes or whatever. um But if that anyone who's watched Planes, Trains, Automobiles knows about John Candy's, you know, his his crate or his trunk and all that stuff and whatever.

00:46:32.09
Bill
And I mean, we could all assume because when they get get in the hotel that night, I mean, he's got his pillow, he's got his beer, he's got whatever. So for the most part, he's, he's probably got, he's wearing his pajamas. He's got, we assume, right?

00:46:43.40
Bill
He's got clothing and all that sort of things.

00:46:44.57
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:46:45.13
Bill
um But they were talking about on the radio that said this thing that he saw, maybe it something else. He said that both he and Steve Martin, um in this in this outtake opened up the trunk so the lid opened up so the top of the lid was facing the camera so you couldn't see what was inside but they both kind of looked in and they're like huh and then walked away you know and so he was thinking this guy at the radio show was thinking well fuck they were finally going to like show us what was inside the trunk after all these years which they never did and then

00:47:05.09
Mike
Yeah.

00:47:16.34
Bill
This is so fucking sick. It was so fucking funny. they're like They're like, what if it was his his wife's bones? His wife's...

00:47:22.97
Mike
Yeah, dead wife.

00:47:23.58
Bill
Yeah.

00:47:23.88
Mike
That's exactly what I was thinking.

00:47:24.98
Bill
Was it really?

00:47:25.26
Mike
Right. Yeah.

00:47:28.66
Bill
Fucking Marie. her Her remains are in this.

00:47:30.33
Mike
right

00:47:31.26
Bill
He's been hauling around Marie in this trunk for eight years or whatever it was.

00:47:34.34
Mike
Mmm. Why not?

00:47:35.95
Bill
Yeah.

00:47:38.30
Bill
I mean, why why not? And I'm like, that is so fucking funny. I'm like, I gotta i forgot to, I meant to actually make a note of that, i'd write that down, but I i didn't. It's just when we were talking about the suitcase that we were carrying around, I'm like, ooh, Marie's remains.

00:47:49.07
Mike
Yes.

00:47:52.98
Mike
Yes.

00:47:53.85
Bill
Fucking dead bones. Let's talk, we got to talk about that.

00:47:57.27
Mike
yes

00:47:59.00
Bill
All right. So um anything else on that? I mean, I was that I think that was an interesting topic because I just I never thought about it that way as far as the packing and repacking on a daily basis.

00:48:04.10
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:48:07.44
Bill
But I mean, yeah, like you said, I mean, why wouldn't we? Right.

00:48:09.94
Mike
Right. Exactly. you know Clearly, we're not you know everything's not where it should be. and

00:48:16.92
Bill
Right.

00:48:17.41
Mike
We're not done fixing things and moving things around and you know making it more efficient and packed better. and you know Hopefully, that that that bag, we can make it smaller you know so it's not as heavy to carry around.

00:48:29.24
Bill
Right.

00:48:31.29
Mike
Ooh, yeah.

00:48:33.17
Bill
Ooh, nice analogy. I like it.

00:48:34.84
Mike
e

00:48:34.94
Bill
I like it. All right. So on, on that analogy, what do you think there, brother?

00:48:39.29
Mike
Well, I think it's time for us to take a break. So sit back, stay tuned, and listen to these wonderful words from our sponsors.

00:48:56.09
Bill
All right, everyone. Welcome back. Hey, everyone. Are you grateful to be back?

00:49:01.69
Mike
Are you grateful the commercials are over?

00:49:04.89
Bill
ah You know, yeah it's kind of funny. So, yeah, exactly. Exactly. So quick question. Are you hearing any interruption in our in our conversation at all or no?

00:49:15.16
Mike
No.

00:49:15.96
Bill
Okay. So, and I've heard a couple of, you know, like we have a guest on, we'll hear sometimes that wifi does type type of thing.

00:49:21.34
Mike
Yeah.

00:49:22.28
Bill
I'm hearing it a little bit. I mean, I know it's, it's never gonna, it's gonna, never gonna show up on the recording. Um, but all that it does is for like, it's, it's literally like two seconds and I've never lost track of what you're talking about.

00:49:31.35
Mike
Right.

00:49:33.90
Bill
Um, but you know, so I don't know.

00:49:34.11
Mike
Okay.

00:49:35.94
Bill
I mean, I, you know, we, I, our thought was that, you know, not having your plugged into an ethernet cable wouldn't be a big deal.

00:49:41.20
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:49:41.43
Bill
Maybe it does make a difference a little bit, but It's not it's not hurting anything, but it just I noticed it.

00:49:41.91
Mike
Mm-hmm. Yeah, maybe.

00:49:46.31
Bill
I didn't know if it was coming on both sides. so

00:49:48.92
Mike
Nope.

00:49:49.59
Bill
Okay. So either way, i mean we're we're doing what we do because you know what?

00:49:52.73
Mike
she see

00:49:53.14
Bill
we're We're rebels. We're rebels, man. You say it.

00:49:54.97
Mike
Right.

00:49:55.30
Bill
Yes.

00:49:56.48
Mike
Rebel daddy. I'm a loner.

00:50:00.57
Bill
Yes. Exactly. Exactly. All right. So um hang on one moment. do you want Do you want to talk about podcasts for just a minute? It's nothing a really big, but just a couple of things with podcasts.

00:50:12.86
Bill
So I was i was listening to, and this is...

00:50:13.11
Mike
Sure.

00:50:16.54
Bill
um fuck it I'll just say, I'll say the name of it. Um, the, the sober motivation podcast that, uh, that I've been talking about.

00:50:22.87
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:50:23.70
Bill
And I, I've, I've always praised, um, you know, what he does. His name is Brad, the sober motivation podcast. I love it. It's a great podcast, all that sort of things. I listened to like the newest episode, um, at some point, well, it was last weekend when I was listening to it.

00:50:38.25
Bill
And I don't know. I mean, this just bothered me just a, just a tad. Cause I don't understand why he would, why he would do this, but I'll tell you, and then we'll go from there. So he's saying that he's in the process of starting a ah separate podcast.

00:50:52.68
Bill
Okay.

00:50:53.06
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:50:54.20
Bill
And it's going to be a subscription only. Obviously you got to pay for it.

00:50:56.48
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:50:57.56
Bill
But he said it won't be like recovery stories or anything like that.

00:50:57.74
Mike
Right?

00:51:01.16
Bill
It's going be more about his stories, how he got sober, how he stays sober, his insights, possibly some conversations with guests. But he claims there's going to obviously a lot value to the podcast.

00:51:12.04
Bill
And I'm like, okay. It just it it almost bummed me out a little bit because I'm like, you could he does such a good job.

00:51:17.32
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:51:20.23
Bill
And when when I look at a podcast like that, I'll tell you why bummed me out. First of all, I really like his podcast. I like his structure and that sort of thing. i' I'm not questioning his his need or want or whatever to start another podcast or to have that sort of thing.

00:51:34.42
Bill
But what I don't understand is why you would charge for it. That's number one.

00:51:38.18
Mike
Right.

00:51:38.46
Bill
Um, but also why he doesn't just incorporate something with what he's doing, why he has to make it a separate one.

00:51:43.04
Mike
hmm. Mm

00:51:44.31
Bill
I'm kind of his choice. And, but on top of that too, is he's got the, he's big enough. And I, I know what his following or his follower base is on Instagram and and that sort of thing. mean He's got like two, 300,000 followers and stuff like that.

00:51:54.38
Mike
hmm.

00:51:58.27
Mike
Okay.

00:51:58.70
Bill
He's got a they do this ah this other group, and I can't think of what his his group is called now. But he's also got already got a pay group, kind of like ah um for people can join this sober community.

00:52:09.43
Bill
So he's already got that where they do meetings and all the sort of things. So he's got that.

00:52:12.70
Mike
All right.

00:52:13.11
Bill
I know he's got that for a revenue stream. um He doesn't run commercials in his, and that's what made me think about it, but I wrote it down also, but doesn't run commercials in his episodes.

00:52:20.78
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:52:22.98
Bill
But he he'll have, you know, so we're sponsored by blah, blah, blah, or that sort of thing.

00:52:23.20
Mike
Okay.

00:52:27.10
Bill
um So he's got the, my, my, my point is he's got the clout, I think where he could get advertisers and not have to charge people. Okay.

00:52:36.23
Mike
Sure.

00:52:37.11
Bill
Now these are my thoughts. Now, none of these things matter, um, you know, because he could do whatever the fuck he wants and he's got a great foundation and all sorts of things.

00:52:42.99
Mike
Sure.

00:52:45.94
Bill
I just didn't, uh, I just, it, it kind of, I'm not going to stop listening to him. I'm not going to pay for it. You know, there's no fucking, not a goddamn way in the world.

00:52:51.90
Mike
Yeah, right.

00:52:53.66
Bill
I'm going pay for it. Because there's plenty of podcasts out there, ladies and gentlemen, this being one of them, if you're looking for opinions and stories and all those things we don't have to pay for, we we already do that just just in case people haven't figured that out.

00:52:54.54
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:52:58.49
Mike
Yes.

00:53:06.86
Bill
But it's not just us.

00:53:06.89
Mike
Right.

00:53:08.14
Bill
There's plenty of other podcasts out there that do that. And and I think that we've made it very clear.

00:53:10.59
Mike
Right.

00:53:12.74
Bill
Yes, you've got to suffer through those commercials. That's a Spotify thing. Granted, now we're, you know we're maybe making 10 or $11 a month. You know, it's big fucking money. Right.

00:53:22.76
Bill
um You know, but and um I'll tell you, I'll tell you guys a minute because I'm going through receipts and everything because it's getting towards the end of the year. um I'll tell you what we spend every year on this podcast also, um you know, but.

00:53:29.30
Mike
Right.

00:53:32.50
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:53:34.49
Bill
The goal that we had from the start is to try to grow to a point where we can charge advertisers and not have to charge any people. I'm not saying that the I think Mike, you and I probably talked about it at one point as far as having some sort of pay thing.

00:53:44.92
Mike
Right.

00:53:51.03
Bill
And never we were we've never been in a position to do it because I don't think any why would anyone want to pay for this this shit? Because um because you can get again, you can get it for fucking free.

00:53:57.11
Mike
Right.

00:54:00.47
Bill
Right.

00:54:00.99
Mike
Yeah.

00:54:01.03
Bill
um You know, but so we're not in that position. We're not a Mark Maron. We're not a, you know, ah even a Joe Rogan, whoever these people are, they even charge for these things.

00:54:08.08
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:54:09.43
Bill
But, um you know, the the goal is is to hopefully to a point grow where we can actually get revenue from that. not, not do that. So I don't, I don't know. I'm not, I'm not angry about it. It just, it threw me off a little bit just because I, again, I, I value him, um, as a, as a podcast or I value a show. I just don't, I don't understand the point behind it. I'm not asking you to give me a point behind it. I'm just airing out my thoughts. That's all.

00:54:35.65
Mike
Right. exactly yeah i mean like you said you know he can do whatever the fuck he wants to do um you know i mean i've talked about a bit you know the the main podcast that i listen to is an extension of a terrestrial radio show that i've been listening to for like 30 years right and they they do four free shows a week and then they do a bonus show which is subscription no commercials and it's just them and they can swear and all that good stuff um

00:54:41.56
Bill
Right.

00:54:51.48
Bill
Right.

00:55:01.30
Bill
right

00:55:02.36
Mike
Yeah, you know, and again, I've been listening to these guys for a long, long time and I don't pay for the Bulbers show. I get four shows a week from them and that's enough for me. That's cool. And I, you know, I appreciate that, you know, and they show, they sell merch and blah, blah, blah.

00:55:17.16
Mike
So do we, um you know, if we try anyway. It's available. Hey, where where would where would one get that merch?

00:55:22.55
Bill
ah

00:55:25.53
Bill
yeah That would be go to sober, mature.com and hit the store link.

00:55:29.72
Mike
Ah, cool.

00:55:30.86
Bill
Kind of like our, kind of like our commercial set, right?

00:55:31.34
Mike
Anyway.

00:55:33.50
Bill
If anyone listened to that.

00:55:33.75
Mike
Yes, exactly. um I just assumed they fast forwarded it. So I thought I'd throw that in there. But anyway, right. Yeah. Same thing. You know, I mean, yeah like what, yeah, you know, ah it's, it's there.

00:55:41.14
Bill
Yeah, that's a good point. That's a good point. Yeah.

00:55:45.26
Mike
Yes. It would be great if we made some money off of this thing, but that's like you said, it's not why we do it. You know, we're giving it away to keep it.

00:55:51.54
Bill
Right.

00:55:52.58
Mike
um yeah And, you know, it's, it's a chance for us to get together and you know, whatever, do whatever the fuck this is um and talk to each other and hang out for, you know, once a week and blah, blah, blah.

00:55:59.71
Bill
Right.

00:56:04.50
Mike
That's, that's really it. You know? Yeah. If we made a couple bucks off it, that'd be great, but that's not why we're here.

00:56:10.74
Bill
Right. Yeah. And I, that's the thing. I mean, I don't, I truly don't, I don't begrudge him for wanting to make money. I just don't like the fact that, um, it just, it, it was one of those things where I mean, he, I really, um, again, I don't, I don't, I don't worship anyone.

00:56:24.58
Bill
I don't put anyone up on a pedestal or anything like that, but you know, yeah.

00:56:26.58
Mike
Right. Well, that's why. Because they'll fucking disappoint you every goddamn time. Mm-hmm.

00:56:31.58
Bill
Right. It's just, I do, i I like who he is and what he does. And I just, i think he's, I think he's going to dirty up what he's trying to do.

00:56:38.10
Mike
He's diminishing himself, right?

00:56:39.80
Bill
There you go. Diminishing. And that's now that's my opinion as a, as a fan, not as a podcaster, but as a fan.

00:56:42.90
Mike
Yeah. Well, yeah. Yeah, right. Yeah, he's diminishing himself in your eyes. You know, whether, yeah, whatever for whatever that's worth.

00:56:49.54
Bill
Right.

00:56:52.02
Bill
probably Probably that and a dollar and a half will get you a cup of coffee, but yeah.

00:56:52.65
Mike
Yeah.

00:56:56.47
Mike
Yeah. Really? Get a cup of coffee for a buck and a half? Cool.

00:57:00.31
Bill
Right. But ah yeah you know what I mean? It's just it just, I don't know, it just kind of threw me off because I, like like you said, and I mean, we've been really, really open about about our purpose and and not not wanting to take money from people either.

00:57:05.88
Mike
Yeah.

00:57:09.80
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:57:13.63
Bill
And that goes into the other one. And the the I'm not going name the podcast because I never do on this one, but we have talked about, you know, podcast begging for money and, you know, this whole buy me a coffee fucking bullshit and support us, you know, be here for the new guy and blah, blah, blah.

00:57:18.38
Mike
Right.

00:57:21.23
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:57:26.93
Bill
That podcast that I'm always complaining about with that, Um, they haven't done, I, I now listen to them every week. They put on an episode just like us on a weekly basis. I haven't heard them say that in ah probably three months, if not, maybe even longer than that.

00:57:39.26
Mike
Good. Yeah. yeah So they repack their bag.

00:57:40.80
Bill
And, and they, they, they did they repack their bag.

00:57:45.34
Mike
Good.

00:57:45.94
Bill
And what made me think about it is they were, they were talking about something else that they put out for free. And they said, Hey, you know, if you, this didn't cost you anything, it just helped you out in between episodes, blah, blah, blah.

00:57:50.51
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:57:55.30
Bill
Um, if you want to support the show, you know, you could do that, but it's obviously it's not necessary So that was the, that's the closest that they've gotten to that. That was an episode so that I listened to earlier today. And then part of me is like, I'm like, God, I wonder if anyone, anyone just kind of reached out to them like, you know, that's sober now, but your guys are fucking bashing you guys for what you're doing.

00:58:08.13
Mike
Sure.

00:58:11.14
Mike
Sure.

00:58:14.17
Mike
ah

00:58:14.34
Bill
Cause I mean, we, we know the person, you know, we, i but we, well, we don't know the person, but we, we know them through this medium is I guess the best way to put that.

00:58:18.10
Mike
right me

00:58:24.90
Bill
And if, if that individual came up and said, you know, I heard you guys were, you know, fucking bad-mouthing us. I'm like, and we, we aren't bad-mouthing you. We're bad-mouthing anyone that does that because we think it's wrong.

00:58:32.66
Mike
Right. Yeah.

00:58:35.72
Bill
So, um, yes, we were bad-mouthing the concept that you happen to be, if, if the shoe fits it, if you're, if you're participating in the concept, then yeah I guess we have been.

00:58:36.15
Mike
Yes.

00:58:38.97
Mike
Yeah.

00:58:44.37
Mike
Right. Exactly.

00:58:46.62
Bill
Because, I mean, i yeah i just I just don't know. Once once again, it's just the, we've been so open with what we're what we're trying to do here. And what we're trying to do here is just fucking simple. Be fucking selfish. talk about Talk about this shit and hopefully it hits home with somebody.

00:58:59.13
Bill
You know, I mean, we're doing all these fucking things for selfish reasons to try to keep ourselves sober. That's why we started this goddamn thing. And, you know, if it it's you it's we know it's helped a couple of people along the way, if nothing else.

00:59:06.24
Mike
Yep.

00:59:09.86
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:59:10.18
Bill
And that's really fucking cool. And that's, ah you know, I talk about grateful.

00:59:12.63
Mike
Yeah. Kind of enough.

00:59:15.16
Bill
Yeah, talk about grateful.

00:59:15.42
Mike
Yeah. Great.

00:59:16.86
Bill
Speaking of gratitude, there's one.

00:59:19.72
Mike
Mm.

00:59:21.27
Bill
all right. So, um, one second here. Oh yeah. So this one, this one was kind of interesting. I'm, I'm, I was just trying to scan it over before I read it to see if this is actually, it's something decent.

00:59:33.02
Bill
Sometimes I write down this shit and i'm like, God, does this even, does this make any fucking sense?

00:59:34.74
Mike
yeah Is this anything?

00:59:36.94
Bill
Is any, is this, yeah.

00:59:37.74
Mike
All

00:59:38.51
Bill
Is this anything, but no, here we, here we go. i guess we're about to find out.

00:59:41.69
Mike
right. Cool.

00:59:43.45
Bill
So again, listening to a podcast and the guest was talking about the fact that most people and that they use these words, most people don't get this thing or get sober on their first try.

00:59:54.15
Bill
So that's the first thing.

00:59:54.86
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:59:55.64
Bill
And then the host said that he's talked with thousands of people and maybe two.

00:59:55.96
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

01:00:00.66
Bill
Yeah. Got it on their first try. Okay.

01:00:04.50
Mike
Right. Unicorns.

01:00:05.50
Bill
So yeah, in, in parentheses, I said, do you think it's a positive to tell people that it may not happen on the first try or is it a negative or is it dangerous? Um, do you think it, it, do you think it matters?

01:00:18.68
Bill
Um, cause I mean, we know that, and we hate statistics, but we know what the statistics are, but do you think it, is it, is it dangerous?

01:00:21.54
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.

01:00:25.47
Bill
Is it helpful or does it not fucking matter if people are out there saying it?

01:00:30.07
Mike
I mean, it yes.

01:00:34.78
Bill
Again, i can't I can't argue with you with that answer.

01:00:36.50
Mike
Right.

01:00:36.82
Bill
I mean, I can't, you know.

01:00:37.24
Mike
Exactly. Yeah. You know, it it tell your story, right? That's what we've been told all the time. You know, yeah be truthful, you know, be honest, be brief and be seated.

01:00:49.69
Mike
Um, yeah.

01:00:50.34
Bill
Right.

01:00:50.99
Mike
You know, tell your story. You know, if part of your story is, you know, yeah it took me a couple of times. Hi, me. Um, you know, um,

01:00:57.50
Bill
Right.

01:00:59.58
Mike
tell your story. Your story is, you know, I walked in, I was pissed off. I didn't want to be there and I'm still fucking here.

01:01:05.59
Bill
i

01:01:06.01
Mike
Um, right. You know, it's just, yeah, exactly.

01:01:07.61
Bill
In spite of myself.

01:01:10.39
Mike
So, I mean, yeah, my answer, yes, yes, it could be helpful. you know, um yeah, it took me a few times. Okay, cool. It took me a few times too. That makes me feel, you know, that I didn't fail, that it's, you know, it happens that way.

01:01:24.59
Mike
But, Again, your story, you know, you walked in, you started doing the work and hey, guess what? It fucking worked. um That's helpful too.

01:01:30.92
Bill
Right.

01:01:32.38
Mike
You know, you don't have to relapse does not have to be a part of recovery.

01:01:32.82
Bill
Right.

01:01:37.50
Mike
um It often is. And that's okay too, is what it is, man. But doesn't have to be. So yes, you know, yes, it's, it's helpful and it's hurtful.

01:01:45.19
Bill
Right.

01:01:49.22
Mike
Yes. Yeah.

01:01:51.61
Bill
And it was again, as see there's, there's been a handful of things, you know, that, that we've, we talked about these questions I've asked and you've just said yes. And I'm like, that's a that's a 100% acceptable answer is, is yes to that, to that question.

01:02:01.46
Mike
Yeah. That is.

01:02:03.89
Bill
And the, the only, the only thing that, that I ever think of is that when, I first got into the Keating Center and I hear a lot of these people talking about that. And I and i remember in in group, I asked that question.

01:02:15.30
Bill
I said, so, you know, does that mean that is that relapse is part of recovery?

01:02:15.74
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:02:20.98
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:02:21.94
Bill
And I said it in this way. I use it as this example. cause Again, I'm trying to understand all this shit. is Is relapse part of recovery like death is part of life?

01:02:25.88
Mike
Sure. Sure.

01:02:29.59
Bill
and And I remember it was the it was the bad Jim Gallagher that was leading the group.

01:02:29.76
Mike
Mm-hmm. Ah.

01:02:33.79
Bill
And he kind of lit me up about it. You know, he's like, where did you hear that?

01:02:36.40
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:02:37.59
Bill
Why would you even say that? Blah, blah, blah. I'm like, what the fuck, dude? I'm asking a goddamn question, you know, because because I don't know any better, you know.

01:02:41.98
Mike
Yeah, right. Mm-hmm.

01:02:44.91
Bill
And the answer was it to what you exactly what you just said. it it is a part of a lot of people's story, but it doesn't have to be, you know.

01:02:48.58
Mike
Right.

01:02:51.32
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

01:02:52.99
Bill
And then when um when that first person died at the Keating Center and then I was telling Dawn about it and she's telling me that, you know, that she's like, you don't get a second chance and in my head. I'm like, well, everyone else does.

01:03:03.83
Mike
Sure.

01:03:05.18
Bill
I mean, i didn't i didn't say that. That's what I'm thinking, you know?

01:03:08.12
Mike
Of course.

01:03:09.11
Bill
Like, why why does everyone else get a second chance, but I'm not allowed, you know?

01:03:11.13
Mike
Yeah. Right. Exactly. Why does everybody get to go out party again and I can't?

01:03:16.54
Bill
Yeah. Yeah.

01:03:17.95
Mike
Right.

01:03:18.02
Bill
Everyone else gets to fuck things up one more time.

01:03:20.63
Mike
mor

01:03:20.70
Bill
And I don't, you know, but that's why I've said before, and I, I've said it to her and I'll say this openly again to anyone who wants to fucking listen, or even if you don't, um, I credit a lot of the, the, these little, I'm not credited a lot.

01:03:21.75
Mike
Right.

01:03:34.55
Bill
Dawn, who is my, my ex-wife, my son's mom.

01:03:36.77
Mike
hmm. Right.

01:03:37.46
Bill
said a number of things to me from the time I got sober and especially in those early years, those first two, three years that, that stuck with me and that meant something to me and that helped me.

01:03:43.89
Mike
Mm hmm. Sure.

01:03:48.09
Bill
I will never say that she or anybody or anything else kept me sober.

01:03:48.55
Mike
hmm.

01:03:52.41
Mike
Right.

01:03:52.61
Bill
But those little tidbits, she was as useful to me and as beneficial to me as any one of these folks that we met along the way with the the little tidbits that we've taken from them.

01:04:01.16
Mike
Mm hmm.

01:04:03.08
Bill
And she didn't know,

01:04:05.64
Mike
Right. Of course not. Right.

01:04:06.42
Bill
She knew nothing about, you know, the recovery side of things. She didn't know she was being helpful. I don't think she was trying to be, she wasn't trying to be hurtful, but I don't think she was like, I'm going to drop this old tidbit for this, uh, this guy here.

01:04:11.35
Mike
this is

01:04:17.37
Mike
Yeah.

01:04:17.59
Bill
Right.

01:04:18.14
Mike
Well, again, it's, it's, it goes back to the beginning, man, you know, being grateful, being, being available for, you know, for that help. And, and yeah, right.

01:04:26.53
Bill
Right.

01:04:27.42
Mike
You were open to it and you were, you know, cause I mean, you know, very easily, especially us, you know, what do you mean? Fuck you. I don't get another chance, you know? Yeah.

01:04:37.62
Mike
but And like you said, you know, your brain went there for a bit.

01:04:40.57
Bill
Oh, yeah, right away.

01:04:40.70
Mike
of Yeah, of course, because that's what we do, but no, you were, you were open to it and and it meant, You were open enough and it meant enough to you, you know, her and your son and and it carried weight and you picked that weight up.

01:04:56.78
Mike
that That was you.

01:04:57.26
Bill
Right.

01:04:57.94
Mike
You took that action. You know, again, we could, you could have looked at it and went, well, fuck you too. But you didn't, you know, you you were open to having that tool handed to you and you took it and used it.

01:05:10.01
Bill
Right.

01:05:12.22
Mike
That's a cool thing.

01:05:13.34
Bill
And you know, you know, what's, what's scary about that? and i And I'll tell you where I was, where I was sitting when I was talking to her. um I was in the phone room.

01:05:18.74
Mike
and

01:05:20.47
Bill
Remember we used to answer phones.

01:05:21.75
Mike
Yeah, right.

01:05:22.07
Bill
um So for everyone, ah there was, there's a phone line that people call and try to get beds and blah, blah, blah. And they, they use, you know, Marty and and all those guys, they, they use residents like us, you know, to answer the phones and write down names and blah, bla blah, blah.

01:05:27.99
Mike
Right.

01:05:35.49
Mike
Sure.

01:05:36.76
Bill
So what were we, I mean, when do we start doing that? 30 to 60 days in that timeframe?

01:05:40.57
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.

01:05:42.33
Bill
And that to me is terrifying.

01:05:44.89
Mike
Of course.

01:05:46.30
Bill
It's fucking terrified that I was able, that I was given that type of information and didn't fuck it up. you know I mean, and I'm one, I am so fucking serious.

01:05:52.73
Mike
Right.

01:05:56.78
Bill
It's right now, it is it almost makes me little uncomfortable thinking if anyone would have said to me, hey, just so you know, you're going to be given a life lesson here and possibly a brief statement or some words that could end up you know affecting in a positive way your sobriety journey.

01:06:06.56
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:06:13.85
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:06:15.42
Bill
And you're going to be 47 days sober when you hear it.

01:06:15.64
Mike
Sure.

01:06:18.20
Mike
Right.

01:06:18.94
Bill
And I'll be like, no, um wait till six months.

01:06:19.03
Mike
Yeah.

01:06:22.09
Bill
Give me some fucking time.

01:06:22.49
Mike
Yeah. ye

01:06:24.22
Bill
And you're going be by yourself. Are you fucking kidding me? Nobody else there.

01:06:26.97
Mike
Right. or yeah Or the other side of the coin, you're 40-something days sober and you fucking give some guy some information and it kills him.

01:06:27.89
Bill
Yeah.

01:06:34.39
Bill
Yeah.

01:06:35.22
Mike
Yeah.

01:06:36.09
Bill
Right? Yeah.

01:06:36.78
Mike
Sure.

01:06:37.50
Bill
Yeah. so Okay. there There you go. Yeah. That's the other.

01:06:39.35
Mike
Yeah.

01:06:39.62
Bill
I guess I did. Thank you. Thank you. Put put ah put another nightmare in my head.

01:06:42.42
Mike
sure

01:06:46.48
Bill
oh holy shit.

01:06:46.71
Mike
is yeah

01:06:50.78
Bill
But yeah, I don't know. It just, um yeah again, blow blows my mind. It was just, it was an interesting thing that i we haven't talked about in a while, but I just didn't know. I mean, I, and I, I liked the way you said that literally I liked the fact that it it is a yes.

01:07:02.78
Bill
I mean, it could go either direction. It really depends on, we have no control um again, back to people, places and things.

01:07:04.46
Mike
Right.

01:07:09.18
Bill
So we have no control over the information that we're putting out. Like even right now, as long as if our goal is to try to put out positive information, give positive insights and thoughts.

01:07:15.13
Mike
Sure.

01:07:17.98
Mike
isn

01:07:20.15
Bill
And, you know, I don't want to say direction, but again, positive thoughts in somebody takes it or doesn't take it. We have no control over that. So, You know, if we say that, you know, you say, hey, man, I fucking bounced around for a little bit.

01:07:27.04
Mike
Right.

01:07:31.23
Bill
I did. I did all the drugs in the world.

01:07:31.72
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:07:33.37
Bill
I did everyone, all of them.

01:07:33.82
Mike
Right. Hi.

01:07:35.42
Bill
And I was I was specifically talking about you and and I didn't get it.

01:07:39.03
Mike
Right.

01:07:40.46
Bill
I wasn't this. And then finally, you know, this happened. um And somebody takes that as an excuse to give it one more one more try and they fucking overdose.

01:07:43.29
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:07:47.97
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:07:49.59
Bill
Not your goddamn fault, you know.

01:07:51.06
Mike
No, it is not.

01:07:52.54
Bill
And it's, you know, it's just, again, you know, for, for somebody to take the, you know, however they take the information, all we can do is try to do the, the next right thing. And to make what, what corner, whose corner of the world better?

01:08:02.55
Bill
What?

01:08:02.81
Mike
um I believe ours. Yep.

01:08:05.11
Bill
Our little corner of the world a little bit better. Okay. So that, all right. I mean, I, I feel i i well, don't not that I felt weird about it, but that, that kind of ah ah grounds things a little bit for me because I really, when, when it popped up, I'm like, God, what is that? Is it good or is it bad? I don't fucking know. There's no fucking no at all.

01:08:25.56
Bill
yeah All right. So this one is from keep it simple. And this was from the prayer for the day. Higher power. Help me always remember how my ill.

01:08:37.50
Bill
Can I start over?

01:08:38.68
Mike
Sure.

01:08:39.48
Bill
Okay.

01:08:39.51
Mike
Take two. Three, two, one.

01:08:43.06
Bill
From Keep It Simple, by the way, ah from the prayer for the day, Higher Power, help me remember how my illness almost destroyed me. Help me face the pain of these memories. Okay. So my thought in my parentheses was when you look back, do any of the memories bring you pain today or or at any point during your sobriety?

01:08:53.37
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:09:03.06
Bill
Early sobriety might be a little different, but do any of those memories of, again, how your illness almost destroyed you, does any of that bring bring you pain?

01:09:11.99
Mike
Fuck yeah. It better.

01:09:14.33
Bill
hey Yeah, again, good answer.

01:09:17.40
Mike
yeah i Yeah, I better not look back on it and go, eh, it wasn't that bad.

01:09:18.19
Bill
Right.

01:09:21.84
Mike
it was, you know, right, because then I'm going to go, then I'm going to start justifying and rationalizing, and then yeah, it wasn't that bad. Oh, maybe I could just... didn' you know, right.

01:09:32.82
Mike
No, it's fucking awful. And I better remember that. And yes, painful. Good. You know, we're supposed to, I mean, you know, getting loaded was trying not to feel pain, um, being sober.

01:09:43.71
Bill
Right.

01:09:45.90
Mike
Thankfully, one of the side effects is guess what? You don't feel pain like you used to, but you better feel a little bit and especially looking back and remembering the way that you were and the way you affected other people. And yeah,

01:10:00.60
Mike
I hope it hurts. I hope it always hurts.

01:10:03.23
Bill
Right. Yeah. And, you know, that's ah it's one thing when when I had those thoughts and same deal, you know, whatever comes up and I have these thoughts when when I'm by myself or, you know, in my own in my own little world and these thoughts come up and, um you know, same thing.

01:10:17.70
Bill
i And I said that before, you know, i've I've like physically felt uncomfortable when you think of something or you watch something or read whatever the case is.

01:10:21.93
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:10:24.43
Mike
Right.

01:10:25.02
Bill
you know But then when you have somebody else talking about something, maybe not even bringing up that specific thing, but you know when we had Kathy on the on the podcast, um Dawn and I have had some conversations you know at the time when Derek was younger, when he was going through some of his, i don't want to say his troubled times, but you know causing some issues at home because he was being a kid.

01:10:33.67
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:10:41.41
Mike
Mm.

01:10:43.85
Mike
Sure.

01:10:45.92
Bill
you know but then...

01:10:46.30
Mike
Yeah, and finding his way.

01:10:46.76
Bill
but then

01:10:47.70
Mike
Right.

01:10:47.83
Bill
Yeah. And then, you know, and then then Dawn's, you know, Dawn's getting all upset and I know why she's getting upset because, you know, because of all the shit that, you know, how the, the things that she remembers, the things that I did, you know?

01:10:54.06
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:10:59.60
Mike
Right.

01:10:59.83
Bill
Um, and then, so when you see that, when you see your pain or your things still causing other people pain, that's, that's fucking powerful, you know?

01:11:08.35
Mike
Mm-hmm. Yeah, it should be.

01:11:10.15
Bill
And I know, and it's just, it's mind blowing, but, um, I don't know. It's, it's, it's kind of, um, my comforting is not the right word. I want, I don't ever want those things to go away.

01:11:22.46
Bill
You know, um, I don't want people to hurt.

01:11:22.75
Mike
Right.

01:11:24.54
Bill
I don't want other people to hurt. But, um, I'm, I'm glad that again, grateful. I'm grateful that, that all these individuals will give us these opportunities today. These families, you know, family members and friends and, you know, people that we, people that we harmed and treated like shit, um, is, is long as there's like you know, there's the, there's the clause in there you that as long as you're not in same thing, go back to Dawn, long you're not, you know, fucking things up, you fuck things up, you're done.

01:11:37.57
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:11:40.57
Mike
Right.

01:11:47.93
Mike
Yep.

01:11:50.81
Bill
You're fucking done.

01:11:51.05
Mike
Yep. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

01:11:54.71
Bill
And i I'm fine with that because I know better. I mean, nobody's got to if I start if I start fucking up, nobody's got to show me the door. i don't think I mean, I because I can't I can't sit here. I can't sit around all these people that I love and care about.

01:12:07.56
Bill
I can't look you in the eye if I'm fucking up. You know, if I start I mean, and I'm talking about if I start drinking again.

01:12:09.91
Mike
Right?

01:12:13.12
Bill
Um, I can't, I can't, there's, there's no way that I could do that to, I think my head's all, my head's too full of recovery to begin with, to make it any fun.

01:12:13.11
Mike
Yeah.

01:12:21.69
Bill
Um, but I know if I, if I got to that point, I'm going fucking try to make it fun.

01:12:22.12
Mike
Right.

01:12:27.38
Bill
And I know I can't do that around you people. So, um, you know, I, I don't, I, I don't know.

01:12:30.46
Mike
Yeah.

01:12:32.82
Bill
I don't ever want that pain to go away, but I, I know for a fact it's, I start fucking up. I think I'm going to know exactly where the door is at. Right.

01:12:39.58
Mike
Yeah.

01:12:41.62
Bill
okay

01:12:44.22
Mike
Yep, exactly. i mean, it's always there. You know, I just don't want to walk through it ever again.

01:12:49.46
Bill
Right. Yeah, that's ah that's a good point. Yeah. Whenever, same thing, you know, when people say that alcohol is not an option, of course it fucking is. it's all It's always. Drinking is always an option.

01:12:58.12
Mike
Right.

01:12:59.02
Bill
Alcohol is always an option. Fucking drugs are always an option.

01:13:02.02
Mike
Yes, they are.

01:13:02.73
Bill
You know, ruining your life and everyone else's life around you is always a fucking option. But, you know, keep doing the work. Hopefully it's less of an option than option. Like you just said, I know where the door is.

01:13:13.11
Bill
right over there, man.

01:13:13.43
Mike
Yeah, exactly.

01:13:13.75
Bill
How do I where it

01:13:14.67
Mike
Well, yeah, it's, you know, I've used the quote before. It's my favorite one. You know, suicide's always an option. Unfortunately, the blood splatters on the living.

01:13:22.65
Bill
Yeah, and it does. it It just fucking does.

01:13:27.13
Mike
And it goes for, you know, all the rest of it too. Yes, drinking's still an option, but the vomit's going to spill on all the living.

01:13:35.51
Bill
i thought it was going to be about the vomit.

01:13:36.95
Mike
Well, okay. How about the diarrhea? All that fun stuff that comes with drinking and using drugs.

01:13:39.54
Bill
Oh, that's, ah you know, I had a, uh, I had a drinking dream the other night. and This first time in a long, in a long time.

01:13:48.09
Mike
whom

01:13:49.30
Bill
And the only thing this, this is the the only thing that I remember. First of all, Angel was in the dream. I don't know why Angel and I were, were hanging out.

01:13:55.03
Mike
Okay. Right.

01:13:58.12
Bill
Um, we were in, it was this whole, like, um, like if you went to, um, an outlet mall, okay. That's where we were for some reason.

01:14:05.56
Mike
Okay.

01:14:06.20
Bill
But I think we were working there and i was drinking. um i had a, I had like a pint of like, it it was, there were plastic, there were plastic bottles.

01:14:18.15
Bill
Okay. Plastic pints.

01:14:18.96
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:14:19.96
Bill
I had a pint of whiskey that was tucked away safely in a pocket that I had like a coat pocket.

01:14:24.44
Mike
Sure.

01:14:24.56
Bill
Right. But then I hadn't, I had finished an empty. I never literally drink in my dreams, you know, in my drinking dreams.

01:14:31.32
Mike
Right. Yeah, neither do I.

01:14:32.76
Bill
It just, which is kind of fucking weird, but I just, just making a point there.

01:14:32.97
Mike
Right.

01:14:36.70
Bill
So I wasn't drinking, but I had consumed the the vodka one.

01:14:40.57
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:14:41.26
Bill
So that one's empty. And, The other thing was I had like a second car in the parking lot and I had to keep moving it to different spots. And i don't remember why, but then there was some guy there who I don't know who the guy was.

01:14:50.04
Mike
Right. Right.

01:14:52.48
Bill
to kept telling me to move the car, you know, so I moved my car. So then the, the person of authority in here who I was trying not to, cause I kept dropping this vodka bottle, right?

01:15:03.18
Bill
But it's plastic. So it's making noise, but I'm ah picking it up real quick and try to put it my pocket. And so the person of authority was either Marty or, and they both of these individuals or my manager from true green from years ago.

01:15:16.63
Mike
yeah right

01:15:18.54
Bill
And these are the two individuals that I was trying to keep this vodka bottle concealed. Cause I couldn't put it the garbage and I was trying to get outside or I don't remember what the deal was, but that was like the gist of the dream.

01:15:24.35
Mike
Sure.

01:15:28.62
Bill
And I'm like, what the, what the fuck?

01:15:28.97
Mike
Yeah.

01:15:30.20
Bill
Yeah.

01:15:30.46
Mike
Yeah. Right. I mean, those are my, yeah, my drinking and using dreams too, which don't happen very often, but it's pretty much me trying to hide the fact that I've, that I've already done it. Right. And I'm not even like, you know, feeling good or any of that.

01:15:42.34
Mike
It's just right. I'm just trying to fucking hide it. That's all it is.

01:15:45.59
Bill
Yeah, that's, that's, that is exactly what, that's, that's funny that you say that because that's what it was.

01:15:45.94
Mike
Yay. Fun.

01:15:50.52
Bill
I'm trying to hide one empty bottle, but I still had, I still had a bottle of whiskey in my other pocket, you know, and I know for a fact that it was, it was whiskey it was vodka.

01:15:52.40
Mike
Mm-hmm. Sure. Mm-hmm. Oh, yeah.

01:15:58.72
Bill
It was just fucking stupid. None of it made it any goddamn sense.

01:16:00.67
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:16:02.36
Bill
And I don't, I know Angel was there, but she had no other part.

01:16:02.79
Mike
Yep.

01:16:05.72
Bill
Just, she was there.

01:16:06.29
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right. Yeah. She was an extra.

01:16:09.05
Bill
Yeah. Thanks. Thanks Angel for fucking helping out.

01:16:09.72
Mike
Yeah. A little cameo.

01:16:11.29
Bill
don't even what was your purpose?

01:16:12.93
Mike
Right.

01:16:13.27
Bill
it was Why couldn't you go move my fucking second car?

01:16:15.64
Mike
Right. Right.

01:16:17.30
Bill
At least. So have you ever watched the show? um yeah This was on HBO, but now it's on Netflix. Have you ever watched the show Nurse Jackie with... ah

01:16:25.65
Mike
Ah, yeah. Actually, um a few weeks ago, for the first time, i was over at Chris's house and we ended up watching, i don't know, shit, probably 10 episodes.

01:16:37.53
Bill
Oh, you did? Okay.

01:16:38.33
Mike
Yeah. So, yeah, very recently, I've i've seen some of it.

01:16:39.13
Bill
Okay, yeah. Yeah.

01:16:42.05
Mike
Yes.

01:16:42.78
Bill
Okay. you So yeah, Edie Falco, she was in Sopranos and all stuff.

01:16:44.70
Mike
Yeah.

01:16:45.46
Bill
I mean, great, great character. But so you know the gist. obviously's she's a She's a nurse and she's a drug addict and you know trying to cover it up.

01:16:50.80
Mike
Yep.

01:16:51.74
Bill
And I think it's it's wonderfully done because it's a it's a great picture of of what we do.

01:16:52.30
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:16:57.34
Bill
um She just happens to be a nurse and you know is stealing pills.

01:16:57.68
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right.

01:17:00.34
Bill
and you know do it But she's she's doing all the things that we do.

01:17:03.90
Mike
Right.

01:17:04.70
Bill
But it was at the end of, I just got to the end of one of the seasons recently. And I've seen this before, probably twice. But they were talking about it on, I think the Sober Curator had an article about it Because I think there's getting, i don't know if a new season's coming out.

01:17:17.38
Bill
Something along those lines.

01:17:18.42
Mike
Yeah.

01:17:18.78
Bill
It's popped up again. And now it's available on Netflix.

01:17:20.44
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:17:21.68
Bill
Because I think they're pulling out another season, I think.

01:17:24.50
Mike
Yeah, I think so.

01:17:24.56
Bill
I could be right or wrong. um But, that would be, let me write that down.

01:17:26.71
Mike
I believe you are correct.

01:17:30.29
Bill
Bill...

01:17:30.36
Mike
Yeah, right. Yes.

01:17:31.58
Bill
but fucking What fucking day is that? I know it's Thanksgiving, but what day is it?

01:17:34.11
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:17:34.71
Bill
27th. Okay.

01:17:35.54
Mike
yes

01:17:35.89
Bill
Never mind about the 11th, 27th. Okay. um But at the end of one of these seasons now, it's like the the jig is up, right? I mean, her her best friend, who's a doctor, now she she knows.

01:17:47.34
Bill
Her husband found out. They found all these background things, and Jackie doesn't know yet, and she comes home, and You know, her husband's there. We got to talk. The kids are his sisters. The doctor's there.

01:17:58.14
Bill
And then Jackie's like, oh, no, no, no, no. no So she realizes that fucking intervention, right?

01:18:01.99
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right.

01:18:03.15
Bill
her husband's like, you're a fucking drug addict, blah, blah, blah.

01:18:03.22
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:18:05.39
Bill
So she's just like, yeah, you can leave my fucking house and blah, blah, blah. So it's, you know, complete denial. She walks upstairs, locks herself in the bathroom, and she's looking into the mirror in the bathroom.

01:18:10.59
Mike
Sure.

01:18:15.07
Bill
And this is a lot of times where she goes and she has hidden pills and whatever there. She's just staring in the mirror.

01:18:19.07
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:18:20.03
Bill
And then they show this, um... And they're in New York is where it takes place.

01:18:24.74
Mike
Yeah, right.

01:18:25.46
Bill
So they show this picture of her. It's like she's at the beach, like somewhere in it's, it's not warm out. It's not like some tropical beach, but she's sitting down on this beach. And then in the background, you hear, my name is Jackie.

01:18:37.66
Bill
I'm a drug addict. addict And they're like, okay, so obviously she's going to, she's going to make, you know, get herself sober and do whatever.

01:18:38.95
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:18:42.78
Bill
Then they flash back to her looking in the mirror and she literally starts just laughing uncontrollably out loud And then so looks in the mirror again and says, blow me.

01:18:48.87
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:18:54.65
Bill
and then the that that was the end of the season. Then that that episode ends.

01:18:57.11
Mike
ah ha

01:18:58.37
Bill
I'm like, I couldn't stop laughing. i couldn't I forgot about it. I couldn't fucking stop laughing. Because I'm like, again, everything. Everything is literally fucking falling apart. It's everyone knows.

01:19:09.58
Bill
It's it's it's out in the open.

01:19:09.77
Mike
right.

01:19:11.10
Bill
is fucking Everything's there. and her answer is, fucking blow me.

01:19:15.69
Mike
Yep.

01:19:18.23
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:19:19.67
Bill
ah

01:19:19.80
Mike
can relate to that.

01:19:21.27
Bill
I know. It's just is so fucking wonderful. I wrote that down because I'm like, I got to talk about that because I'm like, that is that is absolutely, that's that's fucking us. That's just so much us.

01:19:32.22
Bill
um

01:19:32.25
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:19:34.07
Bill
All right. i mean, I think I have a i mean have a couple of things, but I got some. I got ah actually a couple of, you feel like listening? listening

01:19:41.62
Mike
wow

01:19:43.03
Bill
Do you feel feel like hearing about a couple of articles? I got a couple that are kind of funny. if

01:19:47.16
Mike
Yeah, sure.

01:19:48.22
Bill
Okay. Kind of a little lighthearted stuff ah to end out this this gratitude episode.

01:19:52.10
Mike
It's a holiday.

01:19:55.22
Bill
um Okay. So this one was kind of funny. Where is it? Oh, Jesus Christ. Did I not? um I'm trying to think if I actually, God damn it. I don't think I saved this one.

01:20:07.87
Mike
Yeah.

01:20:09.02
Bill
Oh yeah, yeah, I did. Okay. now um It's just, this must've been from a little while ago. Okay. So this is ah the headline. um Hallucinating man breaks into neighbor's house to save dog from imaginary fire.

01:20:22.17
Mike
ah

01:20:25.56
Bill
um So this was this was from and i have no idea why this popped up. This is actually from ah shit, October of 2016. I have no idea why this popped up into.

01:20:35.67
Mike
Okay. Mm.

01:20:37.72
Bill
Oh, something was updated. Something was updated on October 18th of this year. okay So, first of all, um police were called, blah, blah, blah. he He's standing out in front of the home with this with his dog.

01:20:49.18
Bill
There was no fire, um state police said.

01:20:49.63
Mike
Uh-huh.

01:20:51.60
Bill
The man had consumed LSD and cough medicine and thought his neighbor's home in Saratoga County, this is in New York, was being consumed by flames last Thursday.

01:20:55.20
Mike
Mm.

01:21:00.36
Bill
He went around the neighborhood banging on doors and yelled yelled about the fire. mess Steve Martin, fire! dog said, fire!

01:21:07.61
Mike
Right.

01:21:08.46
Bill
Fire! When no one would help, he drove his gun yeah a BMW. Wow. Drove his black BMW sedan through the neighbor, through the neighbor's fence, went to the back door and smashed through it to retrieve the dog.

01:21:12.76
Mike
Mmm.

01:21:19.19
Bill
He attempted or emerged triumphantly with a large white dog.

01:21:21.84
Mike
Yikes.

01:21:23.46
Bill
emerged triumphantly. Ta-da.

01:21:25.46
Mike
ya

01:21:27.31
Bill
And responding officers found him standing outside the home with the dog in his arms. um He believed that the residence was on fire and he was rescuing the dog, the old state police said. So um here's the kicker.

01:21:39.51
Bill
this dude's all fucking's fucking lit up and hallucinating whatever, you know trying trying to do you know God's work or whatever he thinks he's doing.

01:21:45.53
Mike
Sure.

01:21:47.26
Bill
um So he was arrested on charges of burglary and criminal mischief.

01:21:54.70
Mike
That's the best kind of mischief.

01:21:54.74
Bill
i could I know, but burglary. No, I was trying to save it.

01:21:58.81
Mike
Well...

01:22:00.96
Bill
No, you fucking stole the dog.

01:22:02.74
Mike
Yeah, you broke into the house and took their dog.

01:22:07.22
Bill
I just thought, I'm like, had just that that's a bad moment. That might even be am i and might it be a bad day.

01:22:11.16
Mike
That would be a bad moment.

01:22:13.97
Bill
so Okay, so there's that one. Did you hear about the Campbell Soup executive that said some said some nasty shit?

01:22:21.21
Mike
No.

01:22:22.51
Bill
OK, so um I think everyone has not only heard of Campbell's Soup, but probably um consumed it.

01:22:26.36
Mike
Sure.

01:22:27.87
Bill
And so this was a one of the he was a VP of the IT department, so not even part of production or anything like that.

01:22:28.12
Mike
Yeah.

01:22:35.92
Bill
And he's telling all this stuff to apparently a new a new employee that he was training or whatever the case was.

01:22:36.11
Mike
Okay.

01:22:42.30
Bill
So, um, this guy's been put on leave and you'll, you'll hear why in a minute, um, said that he was, um, uh, that he was trashed, uh, or trashed the company behind closed doors, including mocking the, the poor customers and saying the company's meat came from a 3d printer.

01:22:42.51
Mike
Uh-huh.

01:22:46.14
Mike
Yeah. Yeah.

01:22:58.70
Bill
The statement said, um, let me get to exactly what he said. Uh, hang on one second here. Jesus Christ. Now why can't I? According to lawsuit, he he recorded that the employee had recorded this guy.

01:23:07.88
Mike
Uh-huh.

01:23:12.50
Bill
I guess he had said it and said some shit on a few occasions. So they actually this dude, his employee recorded him where the executive insulted the intelligence of Indian colleagues and said the company's products were for poor people.

01:23:23.26
Bill
So he's being racist on top of everything else.

01:23:25.64
Mike
Uh-huh.

01:23:26.52
Bill
um Provide a business insider apparent recording of the meeting not included in the exhibit. But yeah, he was saying that basically the the meat was fake, that it was coming from a 3D printer, which again goes against FDA rules and regulations and all that stuff. But he said he's talking about his own home. He goes, if you look at our fucking pantry, we have shit for fucking poor people, right? Yeah. I don't buy fucking Campbell's products barely anymore. um It's unhealthy.

01:23:56.05
Bill
So he's saying all this shit to like a new employee and he's saying that the meat's bioengineered.

01:23:58.55
Mike
Right.

01:24:01.09
Bill
Oh, and on top of that, um after all said and done and he got released or got put on leave or blah, blah, blah. Apparently he admitted to that.

01:24:06.89
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:24:08.65
Bill
This is where the, one of the reasons I wrote it down, he admitted that he comes to work high on a regular basis.

01:24:14.14
Mike
not right

01:24:16.76
Bill
And it sounded like edibles. here's a side question.

01:24:19.86
Mike
yeah

01:24:20.08
Bill
Did you ever do any any edibles? Were there edibles around what you were?

01:24:23.86
Mike
Not really. I mean, you know, the old school brownies, you know, yeah, yeah.

01:24:27.29
Bill
Okay.

01:24:28.14
Mike
yeah But other than that, no.

01:24:30.46
Bill
Okay. I just, I wasn't sure. I mean, it's, I mean, now I, my, my understanding is there's fucking edibles all over the place and it's a, it's a huge fucking business.

01:24:35.84
Mike
Yeah. Oh, yeah.

01:24:38.30
Bill
So.

01:24:38.70
Mike
Yeah.

01:24:40.36
Bill
Okay, last one. And this is not necessarily a happy story, but allow me to get to my point. Okay. So did, and I'm saying listeners too, please allow me to get to the point because this involved a stabbing of some years ago.

01:24:44.76
Mike
this

01:24:50.59
Mike
All right.

01:24:51.49
Bill
Did you ever hear of a slender man?

01:24:54.26
Mike
ah yeah Yeah. I mean, no, but yes, I know it's in the news. the Something. Yeah.

01:25:01.56
Bill
Okay.

01:25:01.66
Mike
as was like some It was some internet thing or something and somebody stabbed somebody to please a fake person or something.

01:25:09.88
Bill
Correct. Yeah, somewhere somewhere along those lines. And it happened in Wisconsin. Okay.

01:25:13.37
Mike
Okay.

01:25:13.50
Bill
And this was in 2014.

01:25:13.69
Mike
Yeah.

01:25:14.98
Bill
And fourteen and these these kids at the time were 12. Okay.

01:25:19.09
Mike
Mm hmm.

01:25:19.34
Bill
And they ah were at a birthday party, whatever. this They lured ended up luring this other kid. classmate into the woods. And then this one, her name, ah last name is Geiser.

01:25:29.92
Bill
She's 23 years old now.

01:25:31.57
Mike
Mm hmm.

01:25:31.88
Bill
She's the one that ended up stabbing this, this kid like 19 times. And then, you know, so she was in obviously in, in custody and was in a mental institution and then had been released to, it sounded like um still a facility where she had a bracelet on, like an ankle bracelet.

01:25:35.86
Mike
Yeah.

01:25:41.70
Mike
Right.

01:25:49.97
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:25:50.24
Bill
But, you know, had a little bit more freedom, you know, after whatever, spent 12, 13 years or 12 years whatever the case was. So she escaped.

01:25:56.05
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:25:58.11
Bill
She cut off the the bracelet, the ankle bracelet, and then escaped.

01:26:00.65
Mike
Yep.

01:26:02.59
Bill
And then apparently there was a, I don't know, some 43-year-old dude that somehow helped her escape and blah, blah, blah. So they were in...

01:26:10.78
Mike
Of course. Mm-hmm.

01:26:12.73
Bill
Right. Yeah. 40, 43 year old dude. She's 23 and got a lady.

01:26:14.55
Mike
Uh-huh.

01:26:15.67
Bill
Yeah. They showed a picture and yeah, he's, he looks like a winner, but so facility I believe was outside Madison they, they were caught sleeping behind some fucking gas station in a town in Illinois, about 30 minutes South of Chicago within couple of days.

01:26:34.69
Bill
Okay. Yeah.

01:26:34.92
Mike
Uh huh.

01:26:36.15
Bill
So here's here's the thing. So first of all, I mean, obviously the, you know, these people that, you know, were holding her in custody, they clearly missed the mark and she shouldn't have, you she shouldn't have that type of freedom and, you know, be able to, you know, just cut something off walk away.

01:26:46.74
Mike
Uh

01:26:48.27
Bill
But so, so somebody missed the mark there. Okay. so I'm not, I'm not taking away ah of this fact, but here's the, here's the weird fucking thoughts. I've heard these stories lately. There was a, this group of like 13 prisoners a few months ago over the summer, that escaped from some Louisiana printer or a prison prison, not printer, um, inside job, the guard, whatever.

01:27:02.96
Mike
huh. Right.

01:27:07.32
Bill
And like, it, it took like two months, but they, they caught all of them.

01:27:08.05
Mike
Mm hmm.

01:27:11.65
Bill
And I think the, the farthest away the, the last one was the farthest away one individual got was, I don't know, like 500 miles.

01:27:12.04
Mike
Right.

01:27:19.18
Bill
Okay.

01:27:19.56
Mike
hmm.

01:27:20.41
Bill
And most of them were caught within, within like two weeks and they were within like three miles of the prison, you know,

01:27:26.54
Mike
Sure.

01:27:27.42
Bill
So yeah here's my thought. This is this is my my weird thought. I don't understand when these people go through, and I'm not justifying or I'm not i'm not backing the fact that you know people are are escaping for prison and anything like that, but I don't understand how people get...

01:27:44.06
Bill
How do people not get away? i I don't get it. You know, you just, how are you, how are you caught? You're sleeping behind a a fucking gas station. i mean, you made it, you know, from Madison to Chicago, or you made it from, you know, this prison, you know, to 500 miles away.

01:27:57.58
Bill
Is it, I mean, are you, I just don't, I don't get it. I'm like, if I, God forbid you speaking of grateful, I'm grateful that I've, I never spent the night. I spent a night in jail, never in prison.

01:28:07.80
Mike
Right.

01:28:09.29
Bill
That's number one, grateful. But also I'm hoping that I keep doing all the right things and never end up in a position where I, you know, have to worry about escaping from someplace.

01:28:17.72
Mike
Right.

01:28:18.25
Bill
But I just, I'm like, how do these fucking people, I mean, are are they just that dumb? Is that, is that the way that it is or what?

01:28:24.25
Mike
Oh, yeah, that's, you know, certainly part of it. um Also, you know, there are people that, you know, ah clearly are act and behave in ways that, you know, get them incarcerated.

01:28:36.49
Mike
And, you know, nothing changes, nothing changes.

01:28:36.86
Bill
Yeah, yeah.

01:28:40.01
Mike
So they continue with that behavior and then they get caught again.

01:28:47.19
Bill
Right. I was just, I was kind of blown away when they was like, you know a couple of days later when that, when that, you know, that 23 year old got got caught. And then I'm i'm like, God, I wonder, wonder where she was. And it's like, you know she made it south of Chicago.

01:28:58.23
Bill
And I'm like, God, I wonder where, and like, really, you're just sleeping. I mean, this was a national, know, I manhunt, individual hunt, you know obviously a young female, but a national, you know, individual person hunt.

01:29:05.29
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right.

01:29:10.26
Bill
And I'm like, you're just out in the open, just sleeping behind a fucking...

01:29:10.55
Mike
Right.

01:29:15.43
Mike
Yeah.

01:29:16.61
Bill
I think you fucking deserve to get caught again. you deserve You deserve to have not been given that freedom to begin with.

01:29:18.67
Mike
Uh-huh.

01:29:21.32
Bill
But once again, man, I am, seriously, I'm glad that I never got to the point where I, you know, did anything to end up in prison. We know plenty, we got plenty of friends, you know, spent their time, did their time more than once, you know, or talk about, you know, our our friend, you know, that that got, you know, stuck in the the fucking lobby of the bank, you know, trying to rob the bank.

01:29:30.23
Mike
Oh, yeah. Mm-hmm. Sure.

01:29:39.74
Mike
Yeah.

01:29:41.22
Bill
Have you heard the the follow-up on that? Has that been in the news or anything? I mean, I'm guessing he

01:29:44.51
Mike
No, no. He just they just put him away. Mm-hmm.

01:29:47.16
Bill
Right. yeah um That's what I'm going to say. I mean, I'm just guessing. Yeah. He's, he's not going to see that if he sees the light of day, it's not going to be for going to be a long time. And ah and again, I'm, I feel for him, you know, I mean, he just, he had, he had the same opportunities as, as we did, you know, and plenty of people around him and plenty of directions and, you know, chose the, whatever he thought was the easier, softer way.

01:30:00.39
Mike
Yep.

01:30:03.80
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:30:07.32
Bill
And he's going to spend his, spend his fucking life in prison.

01:30:08.06
Mike
Yeah.

01:30:09.88
Bill
So.

01:30:10.82
Mike
Yeah.

01:30:12.40
Bill
All right. Oh, God damn it. On that note, Jesus Christ.

01:30:14.74
Mike
On that note.

01:30:15.58
Bill
Here, let's let's start. up I'll leave you on that. That's fine. We can end all. I got one more thing, but you can do your thing first. It's a quick thing.

01:30:21.69
Mike
All right. All right then. Well, thank you. Truly, thank you. We're grateful that you listened to another episode of Sober Not Mature.

01:30:33.91
Mike
always be good to each other, be kind to each other, go out there and do something nice for somebody else this week and don't tell anybody you did it. Now, from the bottom of my heart to the depths of my soul, from the beginning of time until the ends of the earth, always and eternally, fuck you.

01:30:53.85
Mike
Now it's that time, kids. It is that time. Gobble, gobble, gobble. It's time for you to fuck off. Then keep fucking off. Keep fucking off till you get to a gate with a sign on it saying, you cannot fuck off past here.

01:31:07.48
Mike
Climb over that gate. Dream the impossible dream. And keep fucking off forever with giblets.

01:31:15.48
Bill
okay i was I was laughing when you said, go, go, go, go.

01:31:20.57
Mike
yeah

01:31:22.14
Bill
It's so fucking dumb. It just made me laugh.

01:31:23.74
Mike
Yep.

01:31:24.18
Bill
It just made me laugh. Okay. So last, last quick thing here. You Sizzler, you remember the restaurant Sizzler, I'm guessing, right?

01:31:27.48
Mike
it is Sure.

01:31:30.94
Bill
Did you hear that?

01:31:31.13
Mike
Yep.

01:31:31.54
Bill
They're making, they're making a comeback. Yeah.

01:31:33.05
Mike
No.

01:31:34.74
Bill
Yeah, apparently. I don't know if it's just going to be in select cities or whatever the case was. I'm like, so Sizzler was in, and I'm sure I've been to Sizzler a number of times. It's just a fucking, for anyone who doesn't know, was just a, like an all you can eat buffet type of shitty steak restaurant.

01:31:48.45
Bill
was nothing, nothing special, but I know the ones in Milwaukee and I think in other areas, but in the Milwaukee area, the ones that got shut down is for fucking E.

01:31:48.90
Mike
Right.

01:31:56.46
Bill
coli. Yeah. It was literally just fucking shit filled restaurants, I guess. And they got shut down and I'm like, and that was, I mean, shit. I think Pam and I were still together.

01:32:07.61
Bill
You're talking 25 years ago.

01:32:08.41
Mike
Right. Oh yeah.

01:32:09.21
Bill
These fucking restaurants went down, but I'm like, I'm like, I don't know.

01:32:09.29
Mike
Yeah.

01:32:12.57
Bill
Part of me is like, guys, it's sizzler. Like, yeah.

01:32:15.52
Mike
Hmm.

01:32:15.73
Bill
I might, I might want to try it again. Oh, last, last thing real quick. And I wrote a note to myself before, but one thing we haven't asked for, and I don't know if anyone else has out there, anyone who listens a regular basis or whatever it is, even new listener, if you ever have, you collectively have suggestions on what something you want us to talk about, um let us know.

01:32:35.72
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:32:36.59
Bill
We haven't asked that in a while. I thought about that the other day.

01:32:38.94
Mike
Yeah.

01:32:39.19
Bill
We probably talked about it before. We probably over-talked it plenty of times before, but it doesn't, that's, it's never, it's, I going to say, it's never stopped us before.

01:32:43.00
Mike
Mm-hmm. Yeah. It's what we do. who That's what this thing is.

01:32:52.41
Bill
So um yeah, if you do, seriously, if you have any questions, you can message us on Instagram. You can message us on Facebook. Yes, you can email us. It's info at sober, not mature.com.

01:32:59.85
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:33:01.97
Bill
But seriously, it'd be, I think that'd be kind of fun. I mean, get some, get some audience or listener suggestions, some, Who knows?

01:33:08.38
Mike
this is

01:33:08.90
Bill
I mean, we, we talk about, we said it to begin with, man, we talk about whatever the fuck we feel like, and we, we may or may not take your suggestions just so you know, but, um, you're more than willing to try.

01:33:16.92
Mike
Right.

01:33:19.54
Mike
Yeah, absolutely.

01:33:21.82
Bill
All right. Well, we're going go eat some fucking dinner pretty soon.

01:33:25.02
Mike
We are.

01:33:25.54
Bill
So I think, I think we're, I think we're good. All right. I love you, brother.

01:33:28.79
Mike
i love you too.

01:33:30.04
Bill
And we will not only talk, but see each other very, very soon.

01:33:33.91
Mike
Yeah, in about a minute.

01:33:35.61
Bill
Exactly. All right. Love you, brother.

01:33:37.91
Mike

01:33:39.00
Bill

01:33:39.97
Mike
