SoberNotMature - Episode 184 (Lunch At The Caucasian Container)

This week we have...

Mike and Bill on Hump Day! Yes, we have plans this weekend, so we recorded early. Not that it matters, but we are telling you either way.

Mike kicked things off with his reading and it was about life on life's terms. Things happen (good, bad and indifferent), but how we handle those things is what matters. Do we want to be part of the problem or part of the solution? It was a good talk.

We chatted about the Cracker Barrel (who hasn't, right?) and yes, that was the inspiration for "The Caucasian Container" title.

Then it was the new season, Marc Maron and free-styling, pure Michigan, Higher Power stuff, good news, perfect is boring, the radio gig wrap up, the F*cking Sober Podcast and grandkids.

We mentioned that we have plans this weekend. Mike and Chris are in Alaska and Bill is hanging out with FIB's in the southern part of the FIB state. (If you don't know what a FIB is, Google it)

Enjoy the episode.

Bill
Alright everyone, welcome once again to another episode of Sober Not Mature. And we're starting off on a fun note, aren't we?

00:00:11.58
Mike
Yay.

00:00:13.67
Bill
ah Yeah, we had a technology issue, that's all that's all we can say. and Tested out all this fucking shit for the last goddamn 25 minutes and finally we can hear each other, so Jesus Christ, right?

00:00:25.31
Bill
hey

00:00:26.50
Mike
Was it worth it? That's the question.

00:00:28.93
Bill
Well, I guess, so you know, that remains to be seen. But you know what? here Here's the good news. I'll tell you what what didn't, well, I don't think what happened this week. um I don't believe, I'm going ask you first, any dead dog stories this week?

00:00:41.40
Bill
don't.

00:00:41.43
Mike
ha No.

00:00:44.56
Bill
um I didn't have any, as far as I know, none of my friends died. I mean, the way the last one happened, ah Fred could be dead right now and we won't find out for another five days.

00:00:48.05
Mike
o

00:00:53.88
Bill
That's fucking terrible. Sorry.

00:00:55.36
Mike
Right.

00:00:56.04
Bill
Sorry.

00:00:57.20
Mike
mean, could one, but

00:00:58.01
Bill
But hey, that's the positive news. I don't think we have any, I don't think we have any death stories this week as far as I.

00:01:03.24
Mike
i mean i could have one but I won't. hey Yeah, a wife of a friend, but yeah, nothing related to anything.

00:01:11.05
Bill
oh okay. Okay.

00:01:13.19
Mike
So, I mean, you know, hey, guess what? It continues to happen. It will continue to happen.

00:01:18.41
Bill
Right, but nothing, it's ah it's it's a normal normal life circumstance, a normal passing type of thing, correct?

00:01:24.18
Mike
Exactly.

00:01:25.37
Bill
Okay, well, yeah, that that part of it, I mean, that I hate to say it, but that is what it is. But yeah, the the other things we were talking about last week were kind of out of the ordinary and fucking bombarded everyone with it.

00:01:29.87
Mike
Right. Right.

00:01:36.48
Bill
Hey, let's talk death. Not not today, not today.

00:01:39.49
Mike
but yeah let's let's skip it over it today

00:01:42.57
Bill
But speaking speaking of a little bit of death, we can talk about our upcoming guests because our friend Mara, she's in the death business.

00:01:48.81
Mike
ah nice segue

00:01:51.73
Bill
How do you like that? So just just real quick, so everyone knows coming up next week, we have our friend Kate.

00:01:52.77
Mike
how is

00:01:56.98
Bill
um Speaking of technology issues, we had a mic issue with with her the last time. So I think we've got that hopefully all...

00:02:02.43
Mike
not this mike

00:02:03.77
Bill
Yeah, the other the microphone. We had a mic. yeah Yeah, Kate hates fucking mic. That's all that we know.

00:02:09.19
Mike
Right. Maybe I hate her.

00:02:10.63
Bill
there's

00:02:11.77
Mike
Ah.

00:02:12.21
Bill
there's ah There's a mic issue. and You know what? And I got to talk about this. So Ian's episode, before I step into the guest here, um Ian's episode could use a little bit of love.

00:02:19.51
Mike
Hmm.

00:02:22.23
Bill
It's ah based on our our normal listener average.

00:02:22.56
Mike
wow

00:02:24.88
Bill
It's a little bit down. And I think that there there might be a mic issue. But on the other side of things,

00:02:29.40
Mike
Right. Well, of course, my ego went right there. Yeah. Oh, well, I wasn't on the episode, so of course nobody wants to listen.

00:02:37.59
Bill
Right, and I announced it right away, so right off the bat, people might have said, well, but fuck it, if Mike's not here, which, you know, and i' I'll take that hit, because, you know, i i I think I'm pretty fucking great.

00:02:40.42
Mike
yeah

00:02:49.07
Bill
I don't need anyone else's approval, so if it was my fault, I don't think it was anyhow, so I'm not going to ever admit to it, so it's cool.

00:02:51.15
Mike
Right.

00:02:56.64
Bill
But I did, I thought it...

00:02:56.70
Mike
Exactly. Well, and I mean, it would count, right? If they hit play and, you know, you said Mike's not here and then they turned it off. It would still count as a play, right? Not a full play, but it would count for something.

00:03:07.35
Bill
Well, so so here's the thing, and this is what spot ah what Spotify changed.

00:03:10.53
Mike
awful

00:03:11.96
Bill
they have They have plays now, which are full plays. It's got to be, I think it's 80% of the episode.

00:03:16.93
Mike
Okay.

00:03:17.06
Bill
I could be wrong in that number, but I think you've got to get through the better part of an episode for it to count as a play now.

00:03:21.70
Mike
No, I'm curious if you fast forward through like everything because that's what I do.

00:03:27.78
Bill
Right. the The only way, and it would probably be impossible to tell because we you and I would have to sit there and then look at the counter and see if it changed.

00:03:36.41
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:03:36.39
Bill
But it doesn't, you know, maybe somebody else listened at the same time somewhere else in the world. They're like, oh, there's Mike's play.

00:03:40.51
Mike
Right. Right.

00:03:43.27
Bill
But um I don't know. But what I do know is that like a stream and a download, somebody's got to be on there for a certain amount of time for it to be considered a stream or a download.

00:03:51.56
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:03:51.95
Bill
And then a full play is whatever. So that's what's down right now. A little bit on the streams and downloads too, but also on the the plays themselves.

00:03:58.44
Mike
Yeah.

00:03:58.49
Bill
So as far as like the full episode. And um so anyhow, if anyone hasn't listened to it, no, Mike's not on there. You got to listen to me just ramble on with our good friend Ian, though, because he's interesting.

00:04:06.41
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:04:09.41
Bill
um So, yeah, he could use a little bit of love. But back to upcoming guests. We do have Kate, which we don't know.

00:04:13.25
Mike
Yes.

00:04:14.32
Bill
Maybe she hates Mike. Maybe she doesn't. Maybe Mike da hates her.

00:04:16.28
Mike
Right. Right.

00:04:17.56
Bill
Maybe he doesn't. um Next week, so September 5th, she'll be on with us next week. So that's that. On the 12th, that is the individual we're supposed to have the playwright from the play that Off-Broadway play, ah Sober Songs.

00:04:31.37
Mike
Right. Mm hmm.

00:04:32.79
Bill
Now, there might be, we might actually get one of the individuals from the play rather than than the playwright himself.

00:04:33.15
Mike
Mm

00:04:40.62
Mike
hmm.

00:04:40.66
Bill
That's still kind of up in the air. We got an email back and forth. I didn't bore you with the details yet until I figured out, but

00:04:46.10
Mike
Alright.

00:04:46.08
Bill
We should have we should have somebody that's still scheduled. We should have somebody from that. And then um our death friend ah comes up on September 19th. And then we have the individual that Chris listened to, Betty, coming up October, October 3rd.

00:04:58.81
Mike
Ah, yes.

00:05:00.20
Bill
So we have some we have people other than us coming up over the next few weeks. And yeah, so so there. ah But yeah, so Mara, she calls herself the death doula.

00:05:12.73
Mike
Yes.

00:05:13.95
Bill
No, doula's a woman thing. I like the word. i like i I'm like, I want to be a death doula just because I like the name, but doula's a female thing, right?

00:05:19.18
Mike
Mm-hmm. Well, i generally, it's... um Um, I'm fucking tired, man.

00:05:27.53
Bill
yeah

00:05:27.58
Mike
Uh, generally it goes with, uh, birthing.

00:05:29.24
Bill
yeah

00:05:32.94
Mike
Yeah.

00:05:33.10
Bill
Oh, okay.

00:05:33.65
Mike
Doulas are generally people that help with childbirth.

00:05:37.23
Bill
Oh, okay.

00:05:37.42
Mike
Um, yeah. So it's kind of the opposite and it's not her term. I mean, it's like industry wide thing for what she does. I know that, but yeah, but yes, but yes, uh,

00:05:45.71
Bill
No, I know. I know.

00:05:49.51
Mike
Like I said, it's usually like midwives kind of thing. oh They're doulas. They come in and help with childbirth. Well, it's the other end of the the deal there. She helps people go into whatever they go into at death.

00:06:02.87
Bill
Right. But yeah, and that's i I knew I'd heard of the word before, but I guess I just never really paid attention to it. And then I saw her reburn herself is death to like it's fucking awesome. I just love that.

00:06:15.14
Bill
um So, yeah, and she's got her own. I think we had mentioned it. She's got her own her own business that she's starting up. So that was one of the reasons we're going to have her back on.

00:06:20.54
Mike
the

00:06:22.63
Bill
But yeah. If I, ah she's not going to sit there and go through her story again. So if anyone wants to listen to her story, that was episode, let me go back to it.

00:06:33.34
Bill
Episode 94 is when we had her on. So if you want to go back and listen to Mara's story, it's a good one.

00:06:39.08
Mike
It is.

00:06:39.10
Bill
You'll hear all her background and then you'll get ready for her um coming up on September 19th. So you got a couple of weeks to to catch up on that. But again, episode 94 or pay attention to our posts.

00:06:48.16
Mike
oo homework.

00:06:49.73
Bill
Yeah. Pay attention to our posts on Instagram because i i list that upcoming guest shit on there all the time. So, okay. You know what? I think we we've glossed over the fact that we don't have word death to talk about.

00:07:01.45
Bill
Our fucking technology issues.

00:07:01.53
Mike
Right?

00:07:02.77
Bill
We got that fixed. Whatever. It fixed itself.

00:07:04.76
Mike
if Something happened.

00:07:05.03
Bill
Doesn't matter. Don't care. it works. And now we're recording. And it's Wednesday because you are going someplace this weekend. I am too, but you're going to a bigger place. We can talk about that.

00:07:15.55
Mike
yeah Hmm.

00:07:16.69
Bill
I think you're going to a more fun place, but we'll talk about that probably after the...

00:07:22.62
Mike
with

00:07:23.28
Bill
Okay, either way, we'll talk about it. What do you think?

00:07:25.65
Mike
I want a goddamn nap. That's what I think.

00:07:28.11
Bill
I know you do, but okay. So season eight is starting off with Mike.

00:07:31.95
Mike
Yeah.

00:07:32.75
Bill
Mike is, uh, this is the start of season eight. Okay. We started off with a technology issue. Um, Mike had a long day.

00:07:37.71
Mike
Yes.

00:07:39.25
Bill
That's kind of normal though.

00:07:40.52
Mike
Yeah.

00:07:40.52
Bill
Um, you're tired. You need a nap is season eight, our nap season. Is that the, is that the theme? yeah

00:07:45.69
Mike
yes

00:07:47.00
Bill
Okay. And then here's a list of all the new things we're going to do in season eight. Ready, Mike, you got your list ready?

00:07:52.22
Mike
yeah

00:07:54.18
Bill
Not a goddamn thing. It'll probably, it'll probably just get, probably just get fucking worse.

00:07:55.62
Mike
yes Oh, I suppose we could do that.

00:07:58.23
Bill
But anyhow. Okay. So, um, but maybe we should step back into something. I don't know, a little bit more, um, structure, maybe a reading, maybe, maybe somebody else's good thoughts.

00:08:10.22
Mike
Sure. Why not?

00:08:11.53
Bill
No, but this fucking bullshit coming out of your mouth and my mouth, right?

00:08:14.46
Mike
All right. Uh, reading. Yes. Let's see. Oh, look, there's a book in my hand. um You know what, man? It's today's from God grant me because I read it this morning and I went, oh, it's pretty good. I might use that tonight.

00:08:31.69
Mike
And hey, guess what? Since I haven't been home very long, I went, well, there, it's sealed. I'm doing that one tonight.

00:08:39.19
Bill
All right.

00:08:39.27
Mike
I'm not going through and looking for anything else. So whatever it is, and you know, it was what? 48 hours ago this morning, right? Wasn't that?

00:08:48.29
Bill
Yes, yes.

00:08:49.64
Mike
Yes. So August 27th from God grant me. Here we go. Oh yeah. and I didn't look up who the quotes from. Cause again, no time.

00:09:00.91
Mike
So you could Google it if you're interested.

00:09:02.73
Bill
Thank you.

00:09:04.11
Mike
All right. Cruelty cannot stop the earth's heart from beating Evelyn Coleman. No clue. ah Sometimes it seems like all the things we talk about in recovery make life sound wonderful and perfect, perfect after we stop using alcohol or drugs.

00:09:25.25
Mike
Of course, that is not true. Everything will never be perfect, at least not anytime soon. There will always be plenty of bad things happening.

00:09:37.00
Mike
Sometimes they happen by accident, sometimes through addiction, sometimes because some people choose to act for their own power or pleasure at any cost.

00:09:48.70
Mike
We cannot control all of those things. We can only decide whether we want to be part of the problem or part of the solution. We can become part of the life energy of the earth's beating heart. little hippy dippy there.

00:10:03.54
Mike
We do this by stepping into our higher powers will for us. The life energy that is for us. Wait. The life energy that is there for us every minute of every day.

00:10:19.45
Mike
Prayer for the day. Higher power. Please help me be a part of life's good energy today. Thank you. Today's action. ooh we got to do something.

00:10:30.58
Mike
Today i will look to see what kinds of cruelty. What? Today i will look to see what kinds of cruelty are going on around me, and I will put this into a list.

00:10:45.13
Mike
What am i doing so that I will not be a part of the problem?

00:10:50.14
Bill
Jesus Christ, could you imagine sitting down and making a list of the cruelty in the world?

00:10:51.38
Mike
Yeah. Yeah.

00:10:55.56
Mike
boom No, yes.

00:10:56.19
Bill
Oh, no, no fucking thank you.

00:10:59.77
Mike
No, no, that won't be happening. um Right, which is kind of kind of the opposite of how I try to live my life today. all You know, right, I don't look for the cruelty, it's too goddamn easy.

00:11:13.95
Bill
Right.

00:11:14.17
Mike
oh You know, I mean... i When I did read this this morning and I actually thought about it a little bit, I was like, you know what? Yeah. The, the looking for the cruelty, the looking for the negative stuff. Um, that's how I lived my life forever, you know? And it's,

00:11:33.55
Mike
It's, yeah, it's easy. You know, that's the easy, softer way because as you kind of, your comment alluded to, man, it's, it's, it's fucking all around us, you know?

00:11:44.51
Bill
Right.

00:11:45.24
Mike
Um, it's, it's harder to look for the good stuff. Um, and, but with anything, anything, you know, the, if the work is a little bit harder, the rewards are better,

00:11:59.28
Mike
You know, um so I mean, yeah, there's negativity all around us and and it's that's easy. Plus for, don't know, for an addict like myself, um it's very easy to look at all the negative. Oh, the world shit.

00:12:15.86
Mike
And it's a lovely excuse to get loaded.

00:12:18.81
Bill
Right.

00:12:19.39
Mike
Yeah, you know, so, um you know, but the other side of that coin, and you know, looking for the good stuff, which is harder to do, um you know, and finding it because if you look hard enough, you're going to find whatever you're looking for.

00:12:34.64
Mike
all Yeah, you know, it it helps you stay sober. it It does. um Yeah, okay, there's there's shit all around me, but look, there's a little flower growing out of that shit.

00:12:46.86
Mike
Hey, I like that flower. That's nice. I'm probably not going to go over and smell it because it's surrounded by shit, but I'm going to admire its beauty.

00:12:51.50
Bill
yeah

00:12:55.77
Bill
yeah Yeah, I should. ah he was There was one of the episode pictures that we did was a a flower in a pile of shit.

00:13:01.01
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:13:03.71
Bill
So um i I immediately thought of our our episode when you just said that.

00:13:04.03
Mike
Yep, I remember that.

00:13:08.68
Bill
I'm like, hey there.

00:13:09.00
Mike
Hey. That is. Wow.

00:13:09.84
Bill
See, now that's good marketing, Mike.

00:13:10.22
Mike
hey that is

00:13:12.42
Bill
That's marketing because you made that pile of shit with a flower and it stick in my head. So when you said it probably a year and a half later, I'm like, hey, I just thought I'm sober, not mature.

00:13:22.19
Bill
Yeah.

00:13:22.29
Mike
wow

00:13:24.37
Bill
But, um you know, the the thing of it is, and when I read that this morning, too, when I love the I'm a huge fan of the of the saying, do you want to be part of the problem or part of the solution?

00:13:34.31
Mike
Right.

00:13:34.73
Bill
um I mean, that was used in places I worked over the years long before I got sober and probably not even probably on the negative side of things.

00:13:41.80
Mike
Right.

00:13:44.42
Bill
Quit being part of the problem, be part of the solution, that sort of way.

00:13:47.26
Mike
Right.

00:13:47.36
Bill
you know Whereas I look at it like ah i want I'm in a solution. I know what the solution is. if I'm part of, I can help to correct the problem, at least for me. And maybe, you know again, back to making our corner of the world a better place.

00:13:59.46
Bill
Maybe for somebody else, help to correct the problem.

00:14:01.05
Mike
right

00:14:02.77
Bill
I've never, I can't say never, but um until I didn't really focus on that part. I'm glad I didn't focus on the part about... looking at the cruelty thing when you read it just now that hit me um i read that this morning all the other parts of it that reading was really fresh in my mind for once and i was really fucking tired this morning too but but it really stuck with me but not that line about making a list of the cruelty thing and i i wonder if i just um kind of blanked that out thinking i'm not fucking doing that but i didn't consciously think about the fact that i'm not doing that you know

00:14:13.61
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:14:18.87
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:14:32.40
Mike
Well, yeah.

00:14:36.20
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:14:36.29
Bill
um And really, like everything that I always talk about, I'm living in in fuck it in this in this weird mood on a, ah again, not a bad mood. I know I keep saying this. I'm just trying to let people know.

00:14:46.71
Bill
I'm not trying to play a victim with that thing. I just know how ah how my mood is. you know So I'm living in this in this kind of this down area. that's my That's my starting point every every minute of the day. Anyhow, why would I want to make a list of all the things that are fucked up? you know i just, I can't even imagine. i have a hard enough time.

00:15:05.58
Bill
I've got to work at being positive on a regular basis, even though I've got things are good around me.

00:15:09.06
Mike
Right.

00:15:11.25
Bill
i If I, oh yeah, like you said, it's a good reason to get loaded. And it reminded me of when I was telling my friend Kathleen, you know, kind of dipping back a little bit into that whole thing with, with my friend, Sarah, you know, when I said that, you know, I'm, I really, this is when gratitude slaps me in the face and she's like, that's a really great way to look at her healthy way to look at it.

00:15:15.11
Mike
two

00:15:29.24
Bill
I never thought about that as being healthy. I just thought about that's what I need to do.

00:15:33.57
Mike
Right.

00:15:33.65
Bill
I can't, I can't wallow on all the, the, the, the thing that happened, whatever happened. And in the, in the shit storm, again, these bad ripples that, that, that, that sent out, I can't focus on that.

00:15:45.63
Bill
It's unhealthy for me and it doesn't do anyone else any good, you know?

00:15:49.45
Mike
Right.

00:15:51.03
Bill
So yeah, make a, make a list, make a list of the cruel stuff.

00:15:54.18
Mike
yeah

00:15:54.27
Bill
Fuck you and your cruel list.

00:15:55.88
Mike
Right. Right. If anything, I'm going to make a a short list of some decent stuff. I believe we call that a gratitude list.

00:16:05.89
Bill
Right.

00:16:06.60
Mike
Yeah.

00:16:06.76
Bill
Yeah. And you know, the the thing that is, too, is that one of the things that I um that I wrote down in here was you can't control things. So we can't control.

00:16:13.93
Mike
Right.

00:16:14.68
Bill
i mean, why make a list of all these fucking things that we can't control? um yeah I'm not trying to get worked up about it, but kind of I am.

00:16:22.39
Mike
Right.

00:16:22.51
Bill
I'm like, God grant me, stop it.

00:16:24.87
Mike
Yeah.

00:16:25.78
Bill
But I mean, because I can't, you can't, we can't control all of these that the people, places and things out there. um Why do I want to make a list of it?

00:16:32.02
Mike
Right.

00:16:33.64
Bill
You know, make a list of all the things that are, I'm going to make a list of all the things that are wrong in my life.

00:16:33.93
Mike
Right.

00:16:38.48
Bill
And let's see how I feel afterwards.

00:16:39.20
Mike
No.

00:16:40.83
Bill
And if I, you know, again, if I don't try to jump off a cliff or get loaded or end up jumping off a cliff, because I am fucking loaded. No, thank you. No, thank you.

00:16:49.23
Mike
right no

00:16:50.90
Bill
But, um you know, it's, ah it but the other thing too, that it started off talking about, um you know, ah the life being wonderful and perfect after we get sober. I'm guessing that kind of slides into that whole pink cloud theory, I would think, right?

00:17:02.71
Mike
Sure. Right. Yeah. I mean, right. Of course, you know, um, I mean, I, you know, i like leads where people go, you know, yeah, it's not all fucking strawberries and orgasms.

00:17:15.11
Mike
Um, right.

00:17:15.36
Bill
Yeah.

00:17:16.25
Mike
You know, it's, it's, it's life and, and, and, you know, but thankfully we have the tools to deal with it. That's, that's the shit I don't want to hear. i don't want to hear somebody up there going, everything's fucking wonderful.

00:17:26.79
Mike
No, it's not. You lying piece of shit.

00:17:29.17
Bill
Right.

00:17:29.25
Mike
You know, it's not. It never has been. It never will be. But it's better. and And again, yeah, when when the shit does hit the fan, and it will, um we have ways to deal with it in in hopefully a you know healthier way than getting fucked up.

00:17:46.82
Bill
Right. You know, the the other thing that I hear all the time, and I've been, um you know, kind of in, I haven't actually gone out and physically gone to to a meeting yet, but I will. I will, as I was talking about it.

00:17:56.32
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:17:56.86
Bill
I keep talking about it because that it's going to force me to do it. I don't need force, but that's going to lead me in that direction.

00:18:02.03
Mike
Sure.

00:18:02.53
Bill
But what I've been doing was or is I've been listening to more of like, you know, I'll mention his name on here because in this podcast, because I like it. um It's Brad from the Sober Motivation podcast. If anyone out there hasn't listened to it, it's all story based. Every single one is structured the same way. He starts off the same way, runs people the same way, runs an hour, maybe five or six minutes over.

00:18:24.70
Bill
um Very structured, but it doesn't feel like he's putting his story in a box, if that makes sense.

00:18:30.85
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:18:31.10
Bill
um So I've been listening because it's like listening to leads all the time, you know, and but I hear a lot of those people say, I'm living a life beyond my wildest dreams.

00:18:33.97
Mike
Right. Right.

00:18:39.25
Bill
And I'm like, really, really? Um, okay. So I don't know what I dreamed when I, when I dreamed for, I don't know what my dreams were or what I dreamt for, um before I got sober. Cause I don't remember.

00:18:53.94
Bill
Um, I don't even remember if I ever sat down when I first got sober and, you know, yeah, I mean, like we always talk about if, if the things that we wanted to begin with, which was little things, I want a place to live.

00:18:54.07
Mike
right

00:19:04.90
Mike
Sure.

00:19:04.96
Bill
I want a job that I can be happy with. I want my relationships to get right. You know, those things happen based on the guidance from, you know, uh, the program and other people and the steps and all sorts of things. so

00:19:14.70
Mike
see

00:19:14.99
Bill
But I don't know. It's just, it throws me every once in a while. I hear people say that, I mean, whatever your life is, is it, it just, is it a light beyond your wildest dreams?

00:19:24.80
Mike
Oh no, my wildest dreams are much better than this.

00:19:24.93
Bill
Yeah.

00:19:28.87
Bill
Well, in that and that's the thing. i'm I'm not unhappy with my life.

00:19:32.93
Mike
No, not at all.

00:19:33.43
Bill
I mean, we we all have our things going on. And, you know, again, we you and I talk about them on here.

00:19:36.51
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:19:38.34
Bill
But um but the thing of it is, and i what i what I try to do is I look back, and and we it gets brought up here in a lot between you and I is – um five years ago, 10 years ago, the progress.

00:19:49.07
Bill
And we you really, I like to step back every once in a while, not like sitting down, like, okay, I'm sitting up in my chair. It's time for me to look back at my life one last 10 years or 15 and realize how grateful I am.

00:19:59.67
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:20:02.07
Bill
I mean, a gratitude list does that, but um I don't necessarily look back at that, but there's certain things that I'm like, ah, fuck man, you know, five years ago, this, I remember this happening, whereas I didn't react that way today or that sort of thing.

00:20:04.25
Mike
Right.

00:20:13.58
Mike
he

00:20:13.87
Bill
Um, but yeah, to your point, um, I don't know what, whatever dreams I, I've got dreams bigger than what I'm doing right now. I, at least it's like, you just said, what did you say?

00:20:20.15
Mike
Oh, yeah, absolutely.

00:20:24.56
Bill
Hell, a lot better than what I'm doing right now.

00:20:26.79
Mike
Yeah, yeah. but Trust me. i've Well, God, I'm an alcoholic and a drug addict. I can dream wildly.

00:20:36.88
Bill
It's just,

00:20:36.97
Mike
try not to, but I can. And yeah, it's, again, a hell of a lot better than this.

00:20:43.81
Bill
It's almost like, ah dreams, playoffs, playoff dreams, wildest dreams.

00:20:46.33
Mike
Right.

00:20:50.12
Bill
This isn't my wildest dream.

00:20:51.54
Mike
No, this is, I could dream much wilder than this. Mm-hmm.

00:20:54.76
Bill
This isn't even fucking close. um However, I'm not unhappy. You know, um I've got I've got a life that I never would have.

00:20:59.45
Mike
Right.

00:21:02.33
Bill
I think a better way to put that for me. I'm not going to tell anyone else how to how to say it, but um I've got a life that I never thought i would have.

00:21:10.27
Mike
Right.

00:21:10.48
Bill
um've I've got pieces ready like I thought I'd ever have. I've got relationships like I thought I'd never have. um And that's one of the things I got to make it.

00:21:16.08
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:21:18.41
Bill
I got to tell you about. I just I'm just going to write. Hang on. Ali stuff. Cause I got to tell you about a couple of things from last weekend, because, uh, I tell you what, that's one of those you want to talk about, you, you know, we always say promises that right there.

00:21:23.57
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:21:31.17
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:21:31.73
Bill
And, you know, I mean, Lydia, I mean, Jesus Christ, you know, fucking promises, you know,

00:21:32.78
Mike
Yeah. Right. Yup.

00:21:36.76
Bill
um But, yeah, I mean, I just ah I never thought I'd have the things that I have right now. And they're not things there. You know, they're things in me and and around me and not material things.

00:21:48.39
Mike
Right.

00:21:48.58
Bill
um Again, I both of us talk about it. So, OK, you just got a new car. You like it. You know, I like I love my car.

00:21:52.25
Mike
Yeah, right.

00:21:53.89
Bill
You know, I like some things that I have.

00:21:54.12
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:21:56.06
Bill
But that's that's not the deal, man.

00:21:56.37
Mike
Sure. Right.

00:21:59.82
Bill
That is not the deal, man. So anyhow.

00:22:02.90
Mike
Yeah.

00:22:03.98
Bill
yeah All right. So hippie stuff. You said a little bit that was hippity-dippity.

00:22:08.85
Mike
yeah All

00:22:08.93
Bill
I just want to stop on that for a minute because I like the term hippity-dippity. Was it just the, it was something about heartfelt or heart something, wasn't there?

00:22:15.97
Mike
Now, let me pull it out here.

00:22:16.80
Bill
right I don't even.

00:22:18.89
Mike
Let me see here We got...

00:22:20.46
Bill
Yeah, grab the book too. Once you pull it out, grab the book too. Don't don't forget to do that.

00:22:22.99
Mike
Yeah. they well

00:22:24.32
Bill
yeah

00:22:25.62
Mike
Hey, my hand's full. I can't grab the book. um All right.

00:22:27.57
Bill
Ha ha ha.

00:22:30.18
Mike
ah Blah, blah, blah, blah. Where the hell is it? Control. Oh, yeah. We can become part of the life energy of the Earth's beating heart.

00:22:42.42
Mike
Blah.

00:22:43.74
Bill
Okay, there you go. Yeah, that's a little bit... And again, I probably skipped right over that because it just...

00:22:49.18
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:22:49.57
Bill
I don't think my... ah There's certain things I just... Thankfully, I don't think my brain allows me to really to really digest.

00:22:54.82
Mike
Right.

00:22:55.28
Bill
um you know and And again, the the cruelty list or the cruel things list and then the the hippie shit. I don't even... I just don't even pay attention to it.

00:23:02.93
Mike
Right.

00:23:03.26
Bill
And I think that's wonderful. It's just I think when my brain takes it, it's like flush. It just flushes the shit down.

00:23:08.00
Mike
Yes. Just pass it right by.

00:23:09.42
Bill
Just... yeah Just the shit pipe. It runs it out. It's like, yeah, you you don't need that. You don't need that at all.

00:23:14.27
Mike
Take what you can use and leave the rest.

00:23:17.09
Bill
Yeah, the ah hippie, hippie beating heart world bullshit. yeah

00:23:21.80
Mike
The heart of the world.

00:23:24.19
Bill
but

00:23:25.95
Mike
It's a fucking rock. It doesn't have a heart.

00:23:28.76
Bill
Right. Oh, and by the way, that the author, that's Dabney's sister.

00:23:34.19
Mike
What?

00:23:35.23
Bill
the The quote, that's Dabney's sister.

00:23:38.03
Mike
No, it's not.

00:23:39.34
Bill
Yes, it is.

00:23:40.29
Mike
Is it really?

00:23:41.23
Bill
no

00:23:42.42
Mike
now How about Gary?

00:23:42.58
Bill
I don't know.

00:23:44.21
Mike
What you talk about, Willis?

00:23:45.01
Bill
He has Gary's sister.

00:23:48.96
Bill
What you talking about, Dabney? Does anyone even know who Gary Coleman is anymore? Or Dabney Coleman?

00:23:54.25
Mike
Or Dabney Coleman, right?

00:23:55.54
Bill
Yeah, it's just 9 to 5 and everything else he was in. He was a lot of fun. So everyone, there's there's your homework. Listen to Mara's episode, episode 94, our death friend. um Listen, look up Dabney Coleman and Gary Coleman.

00:24:09.92
Bill
Okay, and report report back to us.

00:24:10.02
Mike
Right. Yeah.

00:24:14.25
Bill
Real quick side note here before I forget, too, when I was talking about Ian's episode, we got...

00:24:18.55
Mike
Yeah.

00:24:19.00
Bill
ah It had slowed down like today with the number of plays we had on last week's episode, but um we had this big boost of um of more more plays in the first...

00:24:23.99
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:24:29.80
Bill
two days, well, three days, figure Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, um than we did normally.

00:24:32.02
Mike
Mm.

00:24:34.14
Bill
So um just curiosity if, and i and i mean this seriously, if there's if there's anyone out there that just found us somehow, ah I guess we we always do this and we apologize. if you're If you're stuck with this, get no, it doesn't get any better than this if you're wondering.

00:24:47.52
Bill
But stick around any of us.

00:24:47.63
Mike
Yeah, right. Yeah, this is it.

00:24:51.21
Bill
We're kind of fun every once in a while.

00:24:52.98
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:24:53.14
Bill
fuck Fucking idiots. If you if you like idiots, you you're at the right place. But if you...

00:24:56.54
Mike
Right.

00:24:58.16
Bill
If by chance, if you found us recently, just I'd be curious, we would be curious to know um where you heard of us. So seriously, and I know I joke about the email us, but if you feel like it, it is info at sober, not mature.com.

00:25:11.95
Bill
um Just curiosity if we get this, because we had that happen the one time with John from Sober Speak. We got a big flood in of listeners probably about a year ago, I think.

00:25:21.42
Mike
Right.

00:25:21.39
Bill
Um, you know, and it's just when, when I, I see little spikes like that dips, I can understand, you know, that happens usually just time a year or whatever, but yeah, it was, yeah, it was when people, when people go away, we get it.

00:25:28.58
Mike
We understand dips very well. I own mirrors.

00:25:35.42
Bill
But when people, when people flock to us, then it's like, where, where'd you come from?

00:25:36.02
Mike
Right.

00:25:38.80
Mike
What the hell?

00:25:40.69
Bill
Yeah. And why? But anyhow, okay, so ah back to the readings. So anything anything else on that?

00:25:46.60
Mike
Hmm.

00:25:48.53
Bill
Anything we missed? I think it was kind of straight to the point, but I know we were kind of laughing over part of it too, so.

00:25:51.39
Mike
Yeah. Right. No, I mean, yeah, that's just it. You know, yes, it's a shit show. Hi, welcome to it. But, but in that shit show, there are flowers. Look for the flowers.

00:26:04.62
Bill
Yeah, and that's i seriously, that's I know it was one of our episode pictures, and I don't know when it was, but that is a fact.

00:26:09.15
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:26:11.43
Bill
yes ah mike My friend Mike, he's the one that does all of the all of the pictures.

00:26:13.92
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:26:15.77
Bill
well Well, we have a guest. We use the guest pictures. but yeah just i mean ninety Let's call it of

00:26:18.04
Mike
Sure.

00:26:21.53
Bill
all of our episode titles and pictures well

00:26:24.18
Mike
And the thumbnails, right.

00:26:25.61
Bill
and And the thumbnail. Oh, that was the other thing with Ian's episode. I'm like, oh, I got a picture for this. But I'm like, what the fuck am I? What am I going to call this episode? God damn it. I'm like, I don't do this. Mike does this.

00:26:35.21
Mike
Right.

00:26:36.70
Bill
So I thought it was OK. I just put, you know, I put Ian in his I put his whole name because he used it throughout the entire thing. And it's on his book. And then just put um a wild ride or something like that. I think that's what I called it.

00:26:47.01
Bill
But because that's that's the name of his book.

00:26:47.34
Mike
All right.

00:26:49.03
Bill
So I'm like I was like, oh, that kind of works.

00:26:49.21
Mike
Right. Yeah.

00:26:51.30
Bill
I was patting myself on the back like, what's this fucking the breakfast club go? I did it. I got through that one.

00:26:56.02
Mike
Right?

00:26:56.88
Bill
but All right. So anything else? Anything else with the reading or think we're good?

00:27:01.63
Mike
i've got I'm good.

00:27:06.24
Bill
All right.

00:27:06.41
Mike
This man is lying.

00:27:09.86
Bill
Okay, you're you're settled with the reading. You're not necessarily good, but you're <unk>re settled with the reading.

00:27:12.21
Mike
ah Yes.

00:27:15.61
Mike
I am.

00:27:16.65
Bill
Okay. So, um you know, and i was I was kind of curious. And i mean i don't know. We haven't kind of looked at this in a while. I was just, I wrote a note next to the whole excited note, obviously, about season eight. I mean, again, not that any of this shit matters.

00:27:27.32
Bill
But do you think that, um you know, well, let me ask you this. Do you think that we have, I mean, we're at 100. This is episode 184.

00:27:35.55
Mike
he

00:27:35.92
Bill
We've been doing this for literally, you know, Well, as of tomorrow, because it was February, or was it the 27th? I think February 27th was our our first episode of 2022. So you figure, um you know, three and a half years, literally almost on the dot that we've been doing this.

00:27:49.41
Mike
who

00:27:50.68
Bill
um ah First of all, I think, do you think we found our groove, you and i in this? Okay.

00:27:55.63
Mike
Sure.

00:27:57.71
Bill
Okay.

00:27:58.51
Mike
What am I going to say? No. We're awful. Okay.

00:28:02.16
Bill
Okay, well, we know that, but I mean, oh when, when do you think, when do you think we did? And I'm just kind of curious, do you think it was, um do you think it took us a while to get comfortable or, I mean, it's, I felt the uncomfortableness when it was just me and Ian, just because I'm, I'm used to the, the back and forth with us.

00:28:08.22
Mike
Mmm.

00:28:19.21
Bill
Even way when we have a guest, it's still, um it was weird, but not in a, not in a bad way.

00:28:19.39
Mike
Sure.

00:28:24.00
Bill
Cause Ian was a good guest. Don't get me wrong.

00:28:25.73
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:28:25.84
Bill
But um you know, I don't know. Just when, when do you think that we found that group? just curious.

00:28:30.60
Mike
I mean, it was it was pretty early on, I'd think. um Yeah, I don't know. Probably, I'm going to say like 10 episodes in, something like that. You know, when we started, yeah, you know, but but hitting whatever the stride that this is, we hit it.

00:28:41.17
Bill
Right.

00:28:46.66
Mike
and yeah

00:28:49.26
Bill
yeah

00:28:50.04
Mike
Lope. We hit our lope.

00:28:53.45
Bill
I like that word. Hit our lope. That's a good one.

00:28:55.44
Mike
Yeah.

00:28:56.38
Bill
But, you know, in the in the thing it was, and we we picked up on the the biggest problem that we had to begin with um is the fact that we were talking over each other, but that was more technology than anything else, you know, because we couldn't hear each other talking right away.

00:29:10.54
Bill
um You know, so that happened. And then we got the, I listened to um the thing that that brought it up and thing that reminded me of it. There was an episode clip from, It's like episode 26 or whatever. So that was after that. Well, theoretically, after our season one.

00:29:25.60
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:29:25.63
Bill
And I just listened to the last clip of that. And you it was an audio clip of um you know kind of me asking the same question. you know Up until that point, you were saying like all the comments and stuff like that, realizing that somebody was, you know, we were getting out and open to somebody and whatever.

00:29:41.19
Bill
And then I was just listening to us talk. I mean, I thought that was ah that was kind of a good episode so we were talking about some of the, we're picking apart, I think, how we were doing up until that point. um But even the the conversation that we had back then, you know, which is six months into this, it was it was pretty good, you know?

00:29:57.09
Bill
I mean, pretty good in the fact that I, and I'm not saying that we are good or maybe we're the content's good, but at least we're not, you know, stumbling all over each other is, I guess, the the best way to put it, so...

00:30:06.54
Mike
Correct.

00:30:09.83
Bill
It seems to be a relatively, I don't know, comfortable and decent conversation. So I don't know. it was just it was just one of those things where it made me think about. I i don't know. Some of the stuff I I am. I'm proud of what we do, because I think that, you know, to your point, when you said in that clip, you know, God knows how long ago now.

00:30:24.65
Bill
Well, three years ago. You know, just realizing that every once every once in a while, whether it's whether as one person or two or, you know, every once a while, just the the fact that maybe this hits home with somebody, um even if it's somebody who just wants to, maybe just listens to us because they they want to laugh at how fucking stupid we are.

00:30:35.08
Mike
Right.

00:30:41.00
Bill
I'm fine with it.

00:30:41.19
Mike
Right. Exactly. Yes.

00:30:42.56
Bill
Yeah.

00:30:43.12
Mike
Bring joy however we can. Hehehehe.

00:30:45.60
Bill
Look at these fucking nib rods.

00:30:50.40
Bill
Oh, well. But yeah, speaking real quick of another podcast, um and I came across it randomly, but Kathy actually messaged me about it the other day and asked me if I listened to it.

00:31:00.55
Bill
But Mark Barron was on Smartless recently.

00:31:03.57
Mike
and Okay.

00:31:04.90
Bill
And it just, it I was listening to something, another podcast episode, and it ended and then popped into and to that one. The smart list came on. I was about to flip it.

00:31:15.01
Bill
I haven't, I don't know. I just, I don't, they haven't really had a lot of people on recently that I, that I care about or want to listen to.

00:31:20.83
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:31:21.14
Bill
So I haven't listened to them actively, but then I looked, I was about to turn it off and I'm like, got fucking Mark on, you know?

00:31:21.66
Mike
Sure.

00:31:27.71
Bill
So I was, I listened to it of course. And um first of all, I mean, good interview, good conversation.

00:31:29.91
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:31:33.44
Bill
um But he was actually talking about um the whether he thinks he's going to have the ability to do anything other than freestyle going forward. You know, and this is Mark, obviously, talking this stuff because he said that, I mean, everything he does is that's what it is.

00:31:44.17
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:31:49.98
Bill
You know, he goes, granted, he has a guest and stuff like that. They go a certain direction. But, you know, he's got to be the one that. He said the only thing he does with guests, he reads up on a little bit about their work, but he said he just never knows.

00:32:00.70
Bill
He's looking for a way basically to spark a conversation begin with. And I've heard him say that before.

00:32:04.19
Mike
Mm-hmm. Sure.

00:32:05.34
Bill
um But what it what it reminded me of is when when we did that, that promo for the mummy and the monkey.

00:32:12.90
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:32:13.42
Bill
Which that the video one that they did with us.

00:32:15.04
Mike
Yeah, right.

00:32:15.98
Bill
yeah Now, I think admittedly, both of us can admit that for whatever reason, that was ridiculously uncomfortable to do.

00:32:22.66
Mike
Yeah.

00:32:22.82
Bill
It was, it was hard. And we had scripts that we couldn't read anything.

00:32:27.42
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.

00:32:28.09
Bill
and and i just, it,

00:32:28.46
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.

00:32:29.74
Bill
It kind of blew, when I was thinking back on it just a couple of days ago, it blew my mind. I'm like, how can we, because i then I think about when like what we did our our website promo, the thing that runs in the middle of this episode, ah we didn't do any preparation.

00:32:41.09
Mike
right

00:32:42.18
Bill
And actually Mike, right before we started recording, he goes, what do I need to know?

00:32:42.95
Mike
isn

00:32:46.46
Bill
I said, we're talking about our website. That's all we need all you need to know because you don't want to know anything else anyhow, right? You're like, no.

00:32:52.11
Mike
Right.

00:32:53.31
Bill
And I said, you'll be fine. I have an idea. I have a one-line idea how to ah to introduce this. And I said, we'll just go from there. And that's what happened. you know

00:33:01.95
Mike
Right.

00:33:02.59
Bill
um And the only thing was, I just i asked how people would get they want to know more about us. And I didn't even write down the line. I'm just like, I want to ask something about that.

00:33:11.16
Mike
Right.

00:33:11.15
Bill
And I just rolled into it. But that if anyone listens to that website promo, um that just whatever came off the top of our heads went through that promo. That was it. you know That was us doing what we do, which those are the things like that. that i It amazes me. How are we so comfortable doing that?

00:33:29.13
Bill
And you put a fucking camera in front of us and we can't speak.

00:33:29.42
Mike
Right. I don't know.

00:33:33.12
Mike
right

00:33:35.61
Bill
I mean, seriously, it's just if I think, I don't know, I'm not saying we would have been better off without, without the script. Cause I'm, I'm glad that you did the script. Cause I don't know what the fuck we would have done.

00:33:44.02
Mike
isn'

00:33:44.10
Bill
Um, I don't know that it would have been done any better. I think having being filmed like that since we don't do that, is that what made it uncomfortable? I don't even know. don't know.

00:33:52.32
Mike
i but i don't It's a long time ago, man. I try not to dwell on the past.

00:33:58.46
Bill
I know.

00:34:00.94
Bill
But it just, it just reminds, it was funny that Mark was talking about that because um like he said, acting is so hard for him sometimes because, you know, he, it's, it is, it's a, it's a structured thing.

00:34:07.58
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:34:10.52
Bill
He said he enjoys it, but you know, it's more of a structured thing.

00:34:11.02
Mike
Sure.

00:34:13.33
Bill
So I don't know. It just, again, kind of, kind of randomly, randomly crossed my mind, but. So anyhow, so that was it. That was it on that, at least for the, for Mark Merritt or podcast stuff for the moment. But so this weekend, um, it is Wednesday, everyone, for anyone who fucking cares.

00:34:26.59
Mike
It is. hmm.

00:34:27.92
Bill
Um, it's, it's late later on a Wednesday because of my kind of work thing.

00:34:31.09
Mike
All right.

00:34:32.37
Bill
It's cool. I was fine with that. Not a big deal. Both of us. I know you weren't fine with it, but, um, and then the technology thing is what fucking floored me.

00:34:37.30
Mike
sense sense

00:34:39.82
Bill
I didn't know what the hell happened there, but again, it doesn't matter.

00:34:40.57
Mike
Right.

00:34:42.21
Bill
It is what it is. So, um, but we're doing it on a Wednesday because you are taking a trip, correct?

00:34:43.68
Mike
Mm hmm. am north north to Alaska.

00:34:49.46
Bill
Where you going?

00:34:53.46
Mike
thank you very much um yes we're going up to visit cameron um hi cam um and his family and yes uh guys know he sees uh my well hell i'm gonna officially get to start calling him stepson here pretty soon weird ah weird

00:35:17.07
Bill
Right.

00:35:17.12
Mike
Um, no, but I mean, I do think of them that way. I have for a long time, but, um, Anyway, yes, Chris, my fiancée, who said it right first time, um

00:35:33.81
Mike
her son is in the Air Force and he's stationed up there. And so, yeah, we're going to go visit him. um Three days, long weekend. um You know, it's going to take five days to do it, but we're going to hang out for three days.

00:35:46.52
Mike
of a Right. I'm not looking forward to a entire day of traveling, an entire day of traveling back.

00:35:54.77
Bill
right

00:35:54.98
Mike
ah but it's going to be worth it. Yes. So, um and that will be number 49 on my list. So now all I'll have to do is go to Hawaii and I'll have all 50. Right.

00:36:04.01
Bill
well and and that was my question and i couldn't remember if i had asked you about that but um i i thought now that you mentioned i thought i knew that you had not been hawaii because we were just talking about that i think sometime recently but um i didn't remember i'm sure you probably probably brought that up ah about alaska but um Yeah, I didn't realize that.

00:36:20.26
Mike
right

00:36:21.14
Bill
So that, well, that's cool though, because I mean, a couple of things I'd love to go there, you know, at, at some point I will, I'll make it up to Alaska.

00:36:27.59
Mike
and since

00:36:28.06
Bill
I think it's just everything I've seen when, you know, people do the cruises, whatever. i don't want to necessarily do a cruise, but I, I, I just want to go see some shit, you know?

00:36:32.06
Mike
Right.

00:36:35.92
Mike
Right.

00:36:36.23
Bill
Um, but I, I think it'd be beautiful, but what i I don't know. It's a great opportunity, opportunity, but yeah, the whole, so you guys are leaving on Friday and we're coming back on Monday. No, Thursday.

00:36:45.42
Mike
Tuesday.

00:36:47.03
Bill
Oh, okay. Okay.

00:36:47.87
Mike
Yeah, right.

00:36:47.87
Bill
I got you. So, okay. I got you.

00:36:49.29
Mike
Yeah. I mean, but we're actually, I believe we're doing the red eye coming back. So we're going to get back like super early Wednesday morning.

00:36:59.16
Bill
Oh, okay. Right.

00:37:00.19
Mike
Yeah. Mm-hmm.

00:37:03.57
Bill
yeah

00:37:03.71
Mike
Can you tell I'm thrilled? I'm really looking forward to hanging out with Cam and his family, but yes, seeing some, I've seen moose and I've seen bears, but apparently they're all over the fucking place up there.

00:37:16.34
Bill
right

00:37:16.47
Mike
um Yeah. You know, so that's going to be all cool and whatever, but yeah, it's the traveling is going to be a pain in the ass.

00:37:24.65
Bill
Yeah, and that's been, I'm trying to think. I mean, i have but I've had long travel days, but nothing i'm nothing like that. I mean, I haven't driven traveled that far where, i i don't, like, what'd you got?

00:37:32.61
Mike
Right. I mean, I have, you know, I mean, hell, I flew to Japan.

00:37:35.08
Bill
Right.

00:37:36.91
Mike
That's 12 hours in an airplane just sitting there.

00:37:39.96
Bill
Right.

00:37:40.23
Mike
you know, thankfully I was still drinking back then though.

00:37:40.25
Bill
Yeah.

00:37:42.46
Mike
So in international flights, it was free.

00:37:43.87
Bill
yeah

00:37:45.51
Mike
So, Hey, bring it on and you can smoke. It was beautiful. Um,

00:37:53.67
Mike
but anyway, yes. So I, I can't smoke and I can't drink. So, uh,

00:38:00.79
Mike
Yeah, it it'll be interesting. I'm downloading a bunch of podcasts and bringing a book and yay.

00:38:06.46
Bill
Right. So um ah let tell everyone what Cameron asked if you guys wanted to do something when when you got there, which I thought was kind of funny. He said, do you want to go?

00:38:15.71
Mike
Oh, you guys want to go on an extreme hike.

00:38:16.63
Bill
Yeah. Yeah.

00:38:23.05
Mike
And of course, Chris's answer was, we don't do anything extreme. We're old, man.

00:38:28.21
Bill
yeah

00:38:30.46
Bill
Well, and when, and when you had told me that, I mean, my first thought was I love, I clearly I've talked about it enough. I mean, have you, have you met me? I enjoy hiking, but I'm like extreme hiking.

00:38:40.85
Mike
Wait, you hike?

00:38:41.96
Bill
Yeah. I, did I tell everyone just, okay. Sidestep here. I am a hiker just so everyone knows you do listeners out there. I'm a hiker, but anyhow, um,

00:38:52.85
Mike
And I'm a piker.

00:38:55.66
Bill
We got friends that are bikers. Hello.

00:38:57.74
Mike
Hey.

00:38:58.65
Bill
So, um, no, I, I'm like, i don't extreme height. No, I don't want to put, like you said, that that's a great thing that Chris said, anything extreme.

00:39:02.37
Mike
No.

00:39:05.99
Mike
who

00:39:06.21
Bill
Cause I mean, think about things that you might enjoy. I enjoy sleeping, but if somebody said, do you want to go extreme sleeping? I'd be, I would be afraid of that.

00:39:11.98
Mike
yeah

00:39:14.53
Bill
What is, what does that even mean?

00:39:16.52
Mike
Well, I believe it's called heroin.

00:39:19.28
Bill
Well, so I, again, I'd have reason to be scared. Extreme eating? No.

00:39:24.39
Mike
Well, i don't know. That time we went to the casino with Michael.

00:39:28.27
Bill
Oh, so that, that, you know what?

00:39:29.36
Mike
That was some extreme eating we did that day.

00:39:30.02
Bill
Um,

00:39:32.53
Mike
Okay.

00:39:32.83
Bill
Yeah, and yeah, I did. I seriously, I thought i felt like the the dude from ah Monty Python, you know, if anyone would have given me a wafer thin mint, I think I would have exploded into the restaurant.

00:39:38.80
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:39:44.28
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:39:45.00
Bill
Let's go down to something that we we both really enjoy. How about extreme fucking? I don't even want to do that.

00:39:49.83
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:39:50.48
Bill
God only knows, I would probably die. Whatever the word, whatever extreme fucking is, and I'm sure it's out there.

00:39:55.67
Mike
Sure.

00:39:56.68
Bill
I'm guessing that we are probably too old for that, but I don't know.

00:40:00.57
Mike
Yeah.

00:40:01.99
Bill
Maybe I'll watch. Can I sit? Can I watch extreme fucking?

00:40:07.69
Bill
Wait, note to self. Look up extreme.

00:40:09.89
Mike
Right. Right.

00:40:12.45
Bill
if i If I die tomorrow, my browser's just going to be all these extreme fucking videos.

00:40:15.08
Mike
Right.

00:40:17.32
Bill
yeah Note to self, delete browser history as I'm dying.

00:40:22.39
Mike
right

00:40:23.39
Bill
It's the big one, Wheezy. Delete, delete, delete, delete. yeah ah But anyhow, yeah, so you get to go to Alaska. I'm going to fucking Illinois. Not that that it's bad. It's a way southern part.

00:40:35.81
Bill
It's the Shawnee Forest or National Forest. um I can tell you what Derek said to me, too, when I was i had lunch with them the other day.

00:40:41.84
Mike
ah

00:40:41.83
Bill
um But it's um it's it's way down there. I mean, it's down by the Kentucky border, right by Missouri and stuff like that. So it's supposed to be beautiful.

00:40:47.91
Mike
Right.

00:40:49.46
Bill
I mean, it's it's mountainous in that area, which kind of blew my mind.

00:40:53.00
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:40:53.05
Bill
And you know what? so of all the Of all the times that I bitch about um commercials, which I may not bitch about on here. And yes, everyone has to listen to them. We do get 30 second commercials on on our fine podcast, but deal with it.

00:41:04.70
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:41:05.95
Bill
But um it was a commercial I heard on TuneIn when I was listening to the morning show about, you know, Illinois, you know, like Travel Illinois had talked about the

00:41:13.31
Mike
Right.

00:41:14.06
Bill
you know, the hiking in the beautiful forest of Shawnee. I'm like in Illinois, where the fuck is that? So I had to look it up. I'm like, cause I, I'm like this, this can't be true.

00:41:24.18
Bill
There's no Illinois is fucking flat and boring.

00:41:25.14
Mike
Right.

00:41:26.35
Bill
Right.

00:41:26.81
Mike
Right.

00:41:27.63
Bill
Well, but again, down towards Kentucky and stuff. So, so yeah, so I, I get to, I get to do that.

00:41:29.91
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:41:31.90
Bill
But yeah, when I had lunch with ah Derek and Katie on the way back, we're sitting there, telling a couple other things. I told about the thing last week and then we're talking about where I was going to go. And I said, i didn't catch that i said it.

00:41:43.80
Bill
I said, yeah, I said, I'm going down to the Shawnee National Forest. I'm like, I said, yeah, it's a national forest. And I'm going, and he's, Derek's like, wait, it's a national forest? And I said, yeah. And he's like, he just starts laughing at me.

00:41:54.91
Bill
And he's like, well, first you said Shawnee National Forest. Then you told me again, it's a national forest. ah Fucking repeating myself. And my son's making fun of me. And I'm like, thank you.

00:42:02.57
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:42:03.32
Bill
Thank you very much. But no, anyhow. So I think that, I don't know, I'm looking forward to seeing, and seeing pictures of Alaska.

00:42:11.89
Mike
Yeah, yeah, it's going to be fun.

00:42:14.17
Bill
Oh, and speaking of booze country, when I went up to Michigan um last weekend, first of all, I have i have all but all good things to say about Michigan.

00:42:18.00
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:42:24.08
Bill
I mean, the areas I've been there. there's There's not a place that I've been, even though I didn't have a lot of time you know to to kick around too much.

00:42:26.11
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:42:31.60
Bill
um Again, Pictured Rocks was nice. It was cold, but it was it was nice. um I really enjoyed it and then the places, ah the last places I went, I mean, I really had a great time. But when I was driving up there, you know, like driving up into, you know, coming out of Wisconsin into Michigan, i mean, it's just, it's it's all forests and trees and all these different things around.

00:42:47.34
Mike
Yeah.

00:42:48.65
Bill
just it's It's just some fucking road. It's nothing out of the ordinary, but it's ridiculous. And then im I'm driving, I'm getting closer to where I'm going in Michigan. Then this, you know, this big sign, it's like, you're in moose country. I'm like,

00:43:00.89
Bill
I want to see a moose.

00:43:02.63
Mike
Right.

00:43:03.80
Bill
But then I'm like, i don't, not close up. I don't want to, not one of these people.

00:43:05.80
Mike
Right.

00:43:07.18
Bill
I'm not going to, you know, take a fucking selfie with a goddamn moose, but I'm trying to think the same place. If I was up on a cliff about three, 400 feet up and there was a moose down there that I could least zoom in on.

00:43:17.84
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:43:17.97
Bill
I'd be cool with that. Cause I mean, moose can't like climb a bluff.

00:43:19.20
Mike
Right.

00:43:21.69
Bill
Can they know my luck?

00:43:22.66
Mike
a

00:43:23.73
Bill
And look at this fucker, climb up 300 foot Yeah.

00:43:27.41
Mike
Well, they have knuckles, so...

00:43:33.06
Bill
yes Yes, they do. Yes, they do. But I mean, and all in all these times, you know, then people are talking about, you know, fucking rattlesnakes. I was reading some of the reviews. There's, you know fucking rattlesnakes around there.

00:43:43.75
Bill
And obviously, I mean, to to this point, you know, I haven't, the wildest of animals I've seen is ah is a fucking deer, which is fine. I don't want to be, you know, scared up by a bear.

00:43:53.80
Bill
I don't want to, you know, run into a, I mean, moose or what? They're like seven feet fucking tall, aren't they?

00:43:58.32
Mike
Oh, yeah, they're huge.

00:43:58.36
Bill
They're fucking, right Yeah. Everyone, every story I've ever heard about them, they're like, you wouldn't, you wouldn't even, it would blow your fucking mind how big, how big it is, you know?

00:44:06.34
Mike
Yeah, right.

00:44:07.60
Bill
um So I, I would at a distance, I would love to see a moose, but I did i did not.

00:44:11.98
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:44:12.95
Bill
I don't have, I would bear spray work on a moose.

00:44:16.83
Mike
ah It's one way to find out.

00:44:17.85
Bill
yeah yeah Sorry, Moose. I can't make you run away. it's All I had was bear spray.

00:44:25.39
Bill
I'd spray the mother. I'd spray those big old fucking seven footot and seven foot tall eyeballs with with some bear spray. tell you that goddamn much.

00:44:31.00
Mike
Sure.

00:44:31.73
Bill
But yeah, I mean, seriously, though, I just I couldn't i can't say enough about about those areas. I mean, it's just it's so ridiculous. beautiful. But also real quick before we take a break, I am now a satellite customer on T-Mobile.

00:44:47.35
Mike
Oh, fancy.

00:44:49.07
Bill
I, yeah well, when, when I was, I was actually driving and I had, you know, my, uh, obviously had, uh, my GPS on Google maps on driving up there. And then, um, this message popped up and it's like, oh, you're now blah, blah, blah satellite. I'm like, wait, what? And I looked, um, so I, I lost my cellular coverage at that point.

00:45:05.69
Bill
And I was told that that's what would happen. So, um, I got the, it was like the Android 15 update or whatever it was like a couple of weeks ago before I went up to Wisconsin, and Um, so and it's saying that that would give me an out the So that the dude that had told me that sooner or later I would get the access, he didn't lie.

00:45:23.91
Bill
that's only been like a month ago. So I'm giving it to him, giving it to him.

00:45:25.95
Mike
There you go. Sure.

00:45:28.22
Bill
And then, um, I did sign up for it. So I was actually paying for So i was ready, you know, wherever it went in. And then, yeah, it's just, I got, I got a text message and, uh, the notification. Then my cell phone service came in. And then when I was out on the trail, it's like back in the middle of something and it popped up again.

00:45:42.88
Bill
So I tried to send a group text. So I'm like, hey, I'm in the middle of fucking woods, blah, bla blah, blah. I send go to send it and it fails. I'm like, oh, you fucker. but i But I looked at it and i'm like, okay, so a group test text sends us an MMS, which is a multimedia thing, not an SMS.

00:45:56.74
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right.

00:45:58.38
Bill
I'm like, oh, okay, so I can't do group text. So I figured, okay, I'll i'll send Kimmy a text because she and I were talking about this.

00:46:05.22
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:46:05.25
Bill
So again, kind of a longer text fail. So what happens is is my my text program, If the text gets longer, it converts it to an MMS. I'm like, you fucker.

00:46:14.06
Mike
is

00:46:15.69
Bill
So I did this. I just did a one line. I'm like, this is the first. i said, I'm in the middle of nowhere. I'm like, okay, still SMS. I'm sending you a text satellite and sent it.

00:46:24.45
Mike
Right.

00:46:24.91
Bill
And then, you know, like couple minutes later, she's...

00:46:25.90
Mike
hit Wait, so you didn't send it to Billy Bob Thornton?

00:46:30.64
Bill
Oh, no. Ha, ha, ha, ha.

00:46:31.95
Mike
he he told He says in the commercial, send him a text.

00:46:36.56
Bill
Yeah, you know what? I've seen the commercials, but I guess I didn't realize that he actually says send him a text.

00:46:40.07
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:46:41.36
Bill
But God damn, have to look that up. Note to self, text Billy Bob.

00:46:46.01
Mike
Right.

00:46:47.06
Bill
But no, I texted Kimmy and she's like, oh yeah, I got it. and like it's ah I was telling Brian when I was up there too, I'm like, I'm like, I told him it works, but i'm like, I can only do one-liners for the for the moment because it doesn't convert them. So I said, yeah I said, basically, if I'm getting attacked, I'm like, please send help.

00:47:00.95
Mike
yeah

00:47:02.01
Bill
Send getting attacked by bear.

00:47:02.15
Mike
Right. Yes.

00:47:04.04
Bill
Send my leg is half gone.

00:47:05.07
Mike
and

00:47:06.33
Bill
Send I'm down by the river.

00:47:07.11
Mike
Right. I love you. Bye.

00:47:08.62
Bill
Send never fucking mind.

00:47:09.53
Mike
right i love you bye

00:47:12.10
Bill
I love you. Never mind. Send I'm fucking dead.

00:47:15.12
Mike
it

00:47:17.64
Bill
And then that's the last one, you know, so.

00:47:18.59
Mike
Yes.

00:47:19.91
Bill
All right. So anyhow, on that note, what do you think? Should we take a break, Mike?

00:47:24.27
Mike
Yes. All

00:47:27.22
Bill
yeah

00:47:28.03
Mike
right. We'll be back with more whatever this is right after these words from our sponsors.

00:47:41.60
Bill
All right, everyone. Welcome back. You know, and I know you're tired, so I'm not going to give you too much shit about it, but that was about the most lackluster lead in, which actually made me laugh.

00:47:50.12
Mike
help

00:47:52.93
Bill
It actually made me laugh because that's it's almost better than but better than your, I don't know, whatever you normally do.

00:47:54.29
Mike
Good.

00:47:59.37
Mike
this

00:48:01.13
Bill
I don't like the fact, that I'm not saying i like the fact that you're tired, but you know, it is what it is.

00:48:04.87
Mike
Right.

00:48:05.68
Bill
So, Um, hang on one second. Where was that one other thing? Yeah, it doesn't even matter. Let's go on to back. What about some sobriety shit? What do you, what do you think, Mike? Should we hit dip into something like that?

00:48:16.52
Mike
Sure, why not?

00:48:18.13
Bill
All right. Um, from whenever, keep it simple, higher power, help me put my life and will in your hands today. Help me be a saint just for today. Okay.

00:48:28.36
Mike
No

00:48:29.09
Bill
So the reason I wrote this down and in my parentheses, do you consider yourself a saint? Yeah.

00:48:34.32
Mike
and no.

00:48:34.94
Bill
yeah Or here's the, here's the follow-up. Do you even want to be a saint?

00:48:41.51
Mike
ah no and no Well, first of all, don't you have to be dead to be a saint?

00:48:45.11
Bill
Okay. So.

00:48:47.40
Mike
I think that's first and foremost. So, no.

00:48:53.90
Mike
And then you got to do some like fucking magic trick or something. That's like part of it, too. You have to do magic and then die. no, no. no no

00:49:02.64
Bill
Okay. All right, so the but the first part of it, put help me put my life in your hands today. The other reason I wrote that down is the and we've talked about the whole higher power thing, and I don't remember if we specifically um talked about that part of it, but did you, I mean, the third step is kind of like the thing, obviously, you know turning our will and our lives over blah, blah, blah.

00:49:22.87
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:49:24.09
Bill
Do you think at that moment, um I mean, was that your your point of, I don't know, committing to that or did it take longer than that, do you think? Or is it still a process, do you think?

00:49:35.20
Mike
Oh, still a process, you know. I mean, i mean yeah, I take my will back all the time.

00:49:40.75
Bill
kind of Right.

00:49:40.96
Mike
um You know, thankfully not to the extent that i used to, but um yeah, of course. Yeah, it's it's it's a constant battle to, you know, let shit go and not try to do things my way. And yeah, hallways always, always.

00:49:57.40
Mike
Yeah, it always will be. That's fine. But like I said, not to the extent that I used to.

00:49:59.70
Bill
Right.

00:50:02.13
Mike
And that's, you know, progress, not perfection. Yep.

00:50:05.65
Bill
Right.

00:50:09.17
Bill
Like, like it's stupid. A say, fuck you, man.

00:50:11.45
Mike
you

00:50:13.48
Bill
Fuck you and your sayings. But yeah. And you know what? And I don't think that. But I think that's a cool part about about this whole this whole process. And I think I was going to say especially a but I don't even think especially a just in.

00:50:26.80
Bill
you know, as, as we continue to grow with this, you know, I mean, there's these points obviously throughout, you know, doing the steps and like do it, doing the fifth step and sitting down with that priest. And actually, I mean, I, it was a huge relief walking out of there and, um you know, just ah the the relief that I had of getting that shit off my chest, but not even just that, but just having,

00:50:35.29
Mike
who

00:50:42.51
Mike
h

00:50:44.38
Bill
Having somebody, um I don't know, that he didn't judge, he gave me direction, all these different things. But I mean, you know that the people that we met over the years, um just knowing that you can sit down with almost, almost any anyone in the recovery program, you know especially at a meeting, talk more.

00:50:59.19
Mike
Right.

00:51:01.90
Bill
talk have a conversation, number one, surely not be judged.

00:51:06.56
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:51:06.57
Bill
And in most cases be completely understood.

00:51:09.70
Mike
Right?

00:51:09.89
Bill
And even if the person's got, you know, less time than you, more time than whatever the case is, more than likely you're going to get some sort of bit of ah even enlightenment.

00:51:10.12
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:51:19.58
Bill
I'm not even to say advice, but some sort of enlightenment from that conversation.

00:51:22.98
Mike
Yeah.

00:51:23.45
Bill
Right.

00:51:24.23
Mike
Absolutely. Yeah. some Some sort of knowledge.

00:51:27.25
Bill
Yeah.

00:51:27.33
Mike
You know, different perspective, if nothing else.

00:51:27.46
Bill
Yeah.

00:51:30.29
Bill
yeah Right. And that that's the thing. That's that's been the and I know I've said it before, but one of the one of the coolest parts about, um you know, you and I doing in this and we've known each other. I mean, relatively speaking, a long fucking time, you know, and we've had a lot of conversations and we've been around through a lot of goddamn things and circumstances, um you know, but still every once in a while we have these conversations on a weekly basis.

00:51:42.17
Mike
who

00:51:53.41
Bill
I think the um I end up seeing something a little bit differently in what we're talking about every time, every single episode.

00:51:59.12
Mike
Right.

00:52:00.53
Bill
But then there's these other times I'm like, fuck me. i I never thought about that before.

00:52:05.53
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:52:05.91
Bill
yeah Or I never heard that. Or really, that's what that means? You know, it's anything like that. So, um yeah, it's just, it is. But, if you know, if you just sit around, you know, I mean, yeah, you can be sober, you know, alcohol free.

00:52:19.21
Bill
I don't mean that to anyone that's alcohol free. But, you know, you can stop drinking, but you can not, you know, be doing anything and just sitting there.

00:52:21.63
Mike
Right.

00:52:25.68
Bill
And, you know, there's no goddamn growth, you know.

00:52:26.26
Mike
Yeah.

00:52:28.59
Mike
Exactly.

00:52:30.18
Bill
Yeah. Okay.

00:52:30.78
Mike
Yeah, the only thing you changed is your breath.

00:52:34.09
Bill
When you just said exactly, I'm like, God damn, that's one of the points. was just reaching for my coffee. I'm like, well, I guess this isn't, this isn't Mike has nothing to say that time. This is, that's one of the things that I've usually figured out with you. I know when you're go to lead into something and you throw me off every once in a while, when you, you say just exactly. And then that's it. I'm like, ah fuck. I guess I got to talk again. Okay.

00:52:52.59
Mike
yeah

00:52:52.73
Bill
but yeah And it's all good.

00:52:55.53
Mike
The well is very dry tonight.

00:52:55.83
Bill
It's all.

00:52:58.77
Bill
yeah All right, well, let let's let's throw some more ah something in that well. How about that?

00:53:03.19
Mike
all right, let's moisten it.

00:53:04.25
Bill
what's buts Let's fill you up.

00:53:08.02
Mike
Ooh.

00:53:09.69
Bill
Oh, and speaking of this, God grant me, everyone has inside of him

00:53:14.30
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:53:16.30
Bill
This a fucking coincidence. Literally the next thing in line, I swear to God, everyone has inside of him a piece of good news.

00:53:18.37
Mike
Mmm. Mmm. youof

00:53:23.23
Bill
Okay. This is a great one for tonight because of the way you fucking feel. um Mike, do you agree? And what is your good news?

00:53:32.45
Mike
wow

00:53:34.60
Bill
Those are my words, by the way. And they were in parentheses. They were written down months ago.

00:53:39.20
Mike
Uh-huh. Uh-huh.

00:53:41.56
Bill
What's your good news, Mike?

00:53:42.94
Mike
ah Uh.

00:53:47.66
Bill
What's the good word?

00:53:50.41
Mike
Uh. Um. Yeah. I don't know. Jesus Christ is Lord.

00:53:56.85
Bill
he is risen.

00:53:58.51
Mike
Yes. It's inside of him.

00:54:03.29
Bill
some fucking yeast.

00:54:06.51
Mike
You should get that looked at.

00:54:09.64
Bill
yeah Jesus has a yeast infection.

00:54:11.88
Mike
Right.

00:54:13.42
Bill
That's why he rose.

00:54:14.36
Mike
Lighten up. That's right.

00:54:16.28
Bill
ah

00:54:16.56
Mike
Rule 62. Settle

00:54:18.57
Bill
All right, so anyone who's new, if you're a God person, yeah it fucking is what it is.

00:54:20.98
Mike
down. yeah right light up

00:54:24.82
Bill
Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Jesus is all lightened up. That's why he's risen.

00:54:30.11
Mike
that's right rule sixty two settle down

00:54:33.39
Bill
ah But yeah, what's the good news? I mean, I can go back to the beginning of the podcast and say that, you know, as far as we know, nobody died. That's that's some good news.

00:54:41.31
Mike
Right.

00:54:43.58
Bill
um We're above ground. We're sober. um

00:54:46.15
Mike
Right.

00:54:47.09
Bill
You know, one way or the other, I think I think I might end up above ground anyhow, because I I think I just told my kids, you know, fucking burn me up and throw me someplace nice, you know. And that's, that's all I care about. Not the Keating center dumpster. We were, I was telling, uh, were you there when I think I was at Chippewa Lake? I think I might've been telling everyone about that.

00:55:05.86
Bill
Um,

00:55:06.13
Mike
I don't think I was there for that particular conversation.

00:55:08.00
Bill
Yeah.

00:55:08.97
Mike
Yeah.

00:55:09.52
Bill
God, was I was telling somebody recently, um it had to have been there, but anyhow, was the whole conversation. Like, yeah, telling you that, you know, yeah if you if you drink, I said, I'll make sure family's gone, but I said, I'm pissing on your grave. And you're like, they're like that's fine.

00:55:20.05
Bill
If you drink, yeah take your ashes to the dumpster the Keating Center and throw them in there.

00:55:25.10
Mike
Yep.

00:55:25.95
Bill
and

00:55:27.07
Mike
Take a shit on him.

00:55:27.24
Bill
I'm going to mean take a shit on them. Yeah. Uh, it's, i I mean, Hey, you know what?

00:55:33.24
Mike
Yep.

00:55:34.38
Bill
I, more power to you. Cause I deserve that. That's, that's where I belong.

00:55:37.13
Mike
since

00:55:37.72
Bill
I belong in the dumpster at the Keating center underneath a pile of shit.

00:55:39.82
Mike
help

00:55:41.93
Bill
And if a flower grows in that picket shit on the flower, because I don't deserve to have a, have a flower. But, uh, yeah. So anyhow, say, yeah, we're, we're sober. We're above ground.

00:55:52.00
Bill
Um, we haven't been thrown into the Keating center dumpster and shit on today.

00:55:52.73
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:55:55.74
Bill
So that's, that's the good news.

00:55:56.34
Mike
Right. All right.

00:55:58.72
Bill
Yeah.

00:55:58.98
Mike
that is That's pretty good news, actually.

00:56:01.27
Bill
i I think it is. I think it is. All right. So from Keep It Simple, pretending to be perfect doesn't allow us to be real. It's also boring and no fun. um You never get to mess up.

00:56:13.15
Bill
So that was the that was the whole line. Do you agree with that? do you want me to read it again? or Okay.

00:56:18.61
Mike
No, I got it. Yeah, pretending to be perfect. And plus, you don't fucking learn anything, you know?

00:56:24.22
Bill
Right.

00:56:24.60
Mike
Yeah, exactly. And it's kind of the point to all this shit is, you know, gaining new knowledge, new ways of looking at things. And yeah, I don't fucking know everything.

00:56:35.56
Mike
I know a couple things, but not everything.

00:56:39.24
Bill
Right. You, you know, some of the most obscure shit on earth though.

00:56:42.69
Mike
here

00:56:44.43
Bill
And, uh, I mean, seriously, some of the things that, uh, um, I, when you, when you don't know something that I feel like you might've, you might've known, um, it, it does it, it just, it kind of blows my mind.

00:56:54.75
Bill
I'm like, really, how do you not know that? You know, not that I do, you know, but you just know so many other fucking random things, but, um,

00:56:56.81
Mike
Right, right.

00:57:01.82
Mike
I am a font of useless knowledge.

00:57:04.79
Bill
And that's okay because it's ah you you bring that that's one of the other you're the talent for this whole thing that we do, right?

00:57:10.61
Mike
right.

00:57:11.58
Bill
you know i mean, that's that's what you said.

00:57:11.69
Mike
right

00:57:14.92
Bill
So you know as as the talent, and I'm using air quotes there, the talent here, um you need to you need to have that deep knowledge of all these different topics, right?

00:57:18.29
Mike
so

00:57:23.94
Mike
Right.

00:57:26.36
Bill
But dumb yeah, you know what the the thing of it is, um um I mean, I I've always been i know I've always been a perfectionist, you know, but I was a perfectionist in a really, really bad way before, um you know, thinking like like i we have talked about before, you know, if if I can't do it perfectly, why why try?

00:57:44.20
Bill
Well, then you're you're never going to do anything because it's it's impossible, you know.

00:57:44.78
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:57:47.91
Mike
Right.

00:57:48.09
Bill
Um, but on top of that too, is that, I mean, these days now that we have, uh, thankfully clearer heads and all sorts of things, um, I, man, it's, could you imagine the amount of work it would take to, to attempt to be perfect?

00:58:00.45
Bill
Yeah.

00:58:00.83
Mike
Hmm. I'm entirely too lazy for that.

00:58:04.93
Bill
Well, yeah, and it's I mean, because I mean, we know it's pointless, but I just think it would be I couldn't I couldn't even imagine trying again, trying to to put on that that facade, you know, to people that that I that I know everything or or I just got it just it.

00:58:14.54
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:58:17.54
Mike
Right.

00:58:20.21
Bill
I feel exhausted just thinking about that.

00:58:22.65
Mike
Exactly. Yeah. No, I'm...

00:58:24.18
Bill
yeah

00:58:27.29
Mike
Nope, nope, I am imperfect and I make mistakes and I have room to grow and ah more things to learn. And yes, absolutely.

00:58:38.20
Mike
It's, yeah, well, you know, i'll being honest, honestly, looking at yourself and going, yep, ah there's no way in hell I'm near anywhere perfect.

00:58:42.24
Bill
Right.

00:58:48.21
Mike
That's okay.

00:58:49.24
Bill
Right. Well, and I, and I like the fact that it said it's, uh, it's, it's boring and no fun because it it is, I think it'd be, all it would be is just, it'd be just tedious, um, and strenuous work all the time to try to, I don't want to work that hard.

00:58:54.96
Mike
Yeah. Yeah.

00:59:01.69
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:59:04.17
Bill
Like you said, if I could work that hard, but you said that I think the most important thing, you you never fucking learn anything.

00:59:05.23
Mike
Nah.

00:59:11.11
Bill
If you, if you don't make mistakes, how do you learn?

00:59:11.58
Mike
Yeah.

00:59:14.02
Mike
Right.

00:59:14.75
Bill
You know, there's just no fucking way, no way at all.

00:59:15.37
Mike
Yeah. Right. at Or if you've convinced yourself, lied to yourself, and believed your own lies that you know everything.

00:59:23.75
Bill
yeah

00:59:23.85
Mike
Yeah, all right. Nobody can tell you anything. And that's, yeah, that is boring. I want to know new stuff all the time.

00:59:31.15
Bill
Right.

00:59:33.80
Mike
You know, keep your opinions to yourself, but...

00:59:33.88
Bill
Right.

00:59:39.48
Bill
Well, I mean, but of course,

00:59:41.65
Mike
Right.

00:59:43.60
Bill
yeah your opinions suck, but I mean, you've got some, you've got some new knowledge to teach me.

00:59:45.73
Mike
Yes.

00:59:48.05
Bill
I'll take it all goddamn day.

00:59:48.36
Mike
Mm-hmm. Absolutely.

00:59:51.43
Bill
All right. So let's let's sidestep and take ah take a little bit of a trip back to last Friday night, Mike. What were you doing last Friday night?

00:59:57.18
Mike
Yes.

00:59:59.03
Bill
I would love to hear what you were doing last Friday night and hear how that went for you.

01:00:03.74
Mike
Did I do something last Friday?

01:00:05.52
Bill
You did? Yeah.

01:00:07.94
Mike
Ah, yes. I was on the radio. the redgiio

01:00:11.68
Bill
yeah

01:00:12.27
Mike
um Yeah, no, it was great. It was fun. um Yeah, you know, I got to meet somebody new. ah well i i kind of, I've been around. I've sort of met him before, John Roddy.

01:00:23.43
Mike
um He's covering for Bill while he's healing. And, yeah, so, you know, got to hang out with him for a couple hours. And, yeah, you know, play my horrible music on the radio. It was fun.

01:00:38.05
Bill
Yeah, I mean, and and i I enjoy listening to that. And I think I i might have i might have turned it off with like 10 minutes left just at the end because i was ah it was it was a long day and my brain was tired.

01:00:47.87
Mike
Right?

01:00:50.45
Bill
And um mean, I was out, you know obviously, up i not obviously, but I took the day off and stopped kicking around and putting together the ah episode and doing whatever.

01:00:50.69
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:00:55.68
Mike
Right.

01:00:58.48
Bill
And I was like, man, I got to rest my head and try to get some...

01:01:01.75
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:01:02.92
Bill
get some ah TV watching before I went to sleep because I obviously got up. I had to get up on Godly early to head down to Appleton. um Had to, got to.

01:01:11.64
Mike
Right.

01:01:12.74
Bill
um But yeah, I mean, it was just a lot of fun. And I probably have said this to you before, um but you know, you... You feel, not feel, you seem and sound very natural and you, you sound really good on the radio. You really do.

01:01:28.41
Bill
And especially like when, um, when you started off your, your mix and you did the whole back in time, whatever that was, your, so your story, and then the music building up.

01:01:28.59
Mike
Ah,

01:01:35.92
Mike
ah yes.

01:01:38.81
Bill
And then, you know, as they say, hitting the bridge, right. Or hitting the, uh, the mark when you, it's post as I'm sorry.

01:01:43.00
Mike
The post.

01:01:45.23
Bill
Yeah.

01:01:45.27
Mike
Yo. Cool.

01:01:45.47
Bill
Hitting the post. And when the music did and the whole, it was, I was just like, fucking eight. That sounds good.

01:01:50.16
Mike
yeah

01:01:52.36
Bill
I swear to God, I'm like, I'm like, that is a fucking shit. I loved it. I really, really did.

01:01:57.31
Mike
cool

01:01:57.63
Bill
So, you know, I mean, I not even trying to stroke your ego.

01:01:57.86
Mike
Well, thank you.

01:02:01.15
Bill
I'm just telling you, you sound, you sound great doing it.

01:02:02.26
Mike
Yeah.

01:02:03.80
Bill
um But here's, here's the thing that I know.

01:02:03.93
Mike
Yeah.

01:02:05.96
Bill
And I don't know, maybe everyone else doesn't know if, if people out there listening out to us, listen to you, you spend a hell of a lot of fucking time preparing for that. I know you do.

01:02:14.80
Mike
I do. Yeah. No, I mean, for, you know, program, we well, it turned out to be two and a half hours, but um I just kind of winged the last half hour, um which was cool. But um yeah, no, it takes me, ah I mean, seriously, it takes me about six hours to put together two hours.

01:02:32.60
Mike
Yeah. Because I work at it because it's once a year. You know, I mean, if I was doing it every week and whatever, yeah, I'm sure i would... get faster and cut corners and blah, blah, blah, but it's once a year. And so I, I put a lot into it.

01:02:46.16
Mike
Yeah. You know, I did songs. I like them to flow and the sets that I do like have a sort of central theme and yeah, I work at it.

01:02:56.77
Mike
I do.

01:02:57.04
Bill
Right, right.

01:02:57.66
Mike
Yeah.

01:02:58.72
Bill
And it's ah i don't it shows. it The thing of it is, like when what it reminded me of is when, do you remember what you said after we saw the Foo Fighters?

01:03:07.21
Mike
Yeah.

01:03:07.27
Bill
As far as their, but you I mean, you said that they were obviously good band, first time you saw them blah, blah, blah. But you said that they they work really hard to act like they don't.

01:03:16.40
Mike
Right.

01:03:17.28
Bill
And that's that's what it is.

01:03:17.60
Mike
Yeah.

01:03:18.92
Bill
you You work really hard to make it sound like you don't.

01:03:19.40
Mike
Yeah.

01:03:21.88
Mike
Yeah. yeah

01:03:23.06
Bill
You know, and I like that. I just I really do. I mean, you're you know, you're ah kind of practicing what you what you preach about, you know, what you're what you're seeing and in somebody else in in a band and stuff like that is is exactly what what you put together.

01:03:29.04
Mike
yeah

01:03:35.73
Bill
But I don't know. I'm just telling you, I really ah but especially that that beginning that way. It was fucking awesome.

01:03:42.37
Mike
Cool. Awful.

01:03:43.48
Bill
I just really liked it. I'm like, I'm like, God damn it.

01:03:46.41
Mike
um

01:03:46.42
Bill
Seriously, it's just I liked it a lot But yeah, it was fun It was a lot of fun to listen to And I don't know, just all that I sent you a text Because you're like Turn it up and rip the knob off That's why sent you a text And I'm like, the knob is officially ripped off Ha ha ha ha It's just For anyone out there that's young That's a fucking old radio term And it's just Ha ha ha

01:03:48.33
Mike
call

01:04:04.44
Mike
yeah yeah awful

01:04:12.92
Mike
Oh, yeah. Yeah, it's an old DJ hack crap. That's why I did it.

01:04:17.76
Bill
right I know.

01:04:18.59
Mike
As an homage to old hack radio DJs, which I have a great love and affinity for.

01:04:22.01
Bill
yeah

01:04:26.03
Bill
Right.

01:04:26.10
Mike
They're cheese. I enjoy the cheese.

01:04:30.35
Bill
and it It was, I don't know. It's just all in all, it's, it's obviously, you know, we already know, and you've said it before and you talk about it's a, it's a good cause and all those sorts of things.

01:04:38.24
Mike
Right.

01:04:38.38
Bill
But um I mean, it just, it to me, I mean, I, again, I know the work you put into it and I know you enjoy it, but um it sounds good. Number one, but I know you're, it it sounds like you're having a hell of a lot of fun and you're comfortable doing it.

01:04:49.94
Mike
yeah

01:04:50.59
Bill
And I don't know. I just, I wanted to let you know, just openly here that it was pretty fucking cool.

01:04:55.91
Mike
Well, thank you.

01:04:55.90
Bill
So.

01:04:56.63
Mike
I'm glad you enjoyed it. That's why I do it. Bring joy.

01:05:00.02
Bill
just Just for me?

01:05:02.11
Mike
and Not known for everyone.

01:05:04.17
Bill
God damn it.

01:05:04.76
Mike
Anyone stupid enough to tune in and listen.

01:05:08.78
Bill
So I did have a question. I made ah of a a side note on that because I'm listening to some of the, some of the songs I've heard before, because you've played them, either I've heard them over the years or I, there's some of them I know for a fact you play every year I've heard of before.

01:05:18.76
Mike
Right. Yeah. Sure.

01:05:22.52
Bill
um But I mean, you know, some of the, some of the songs, just listening to, you know, the, the guitar riffs and all those sorts of things, it kind of, it I have a question on that for you.

01:05:32.06
Mike
Okay.

01:05:32.71
Bill
Um, and I don't know that we've ever talked about this. So do you have any one person that you consider to be, um, either the best guitarist of all time or, or can you put somebody in a top three, top five? How do you, how do you rank that? Or can you name one person?

01:05:48.13
Mike
I mean, no, I can't.

01:05:50.67
Bill
Okay. Right.

01:05:52.00
Mike
I mean, yeah, it's, it you know, they're they're all different. They're all, they all, yeah. I mean, i have favorites, that's for sure.

01:05:59.32
Bill
Right.

01:05:59.41
Mike
um You know, saying they're the best, I mean, that's, that's you can't. You can't. du Different styles, different different feelings, different, yeah, you know, now, you know, yes, I've got favorites. I mean, you know, one of my absolute favorites is Johnny Thunders. I have a Johnny Thunders tattoo on my arm.

01:06:19.95
Mike
um

01:06:20.09
Bill
Right.

01:06:20.66
Mike
You know, he's probably like one of the sloppiest, worst guitar players in the world, but he's fucking great.

01:06:26.88
Bill
yeah

01:06:28.90
Mike
You know, he's fantastic. I love his guitar playing. of Yeah, yeah, but it's it's sloppy and it's a mess and yeah, it's simple and I love it.

01:06:32.07
Bill
Right.

01:06:38.67
Bill
Right.

01:06:39.03
Mike
it

01:06:40.10
Bill
Well, and that's the reason that I, that I preface that. Cause I remember we were talking at one point, i don't know, whenever it was six, eight months ago, then I asked you about favorite of something. You're like, I can't do that.

01:06:51.36
Mike
No, I can't.

01:06:51.39
Bill
That's impossible.

01:06:52.43
Mike
It is.

01:06:52.55
Bill
And I remember what even what it was. And that's why i kind of prefaced it with it. I didn't know if you had one, one guitarist. Cause I literally, I'm listening to some of those songs and I'm like, I'd like these fucking guitars are just ridiculous.

01:07:03.71
Bill
You know?

01:07:03.97
Mike
No, yeah.

01:07:04.85
Bill
um And it just, you know, you obviously hear people like, you know, i mean, Eddie Van Halen gets talked about. I don't know about the greatest, but I mean, his his guitar playing his style and his method.

01:07:10.09
Mike
Sure.

01:07:13.45
Bill
I mean, I'm a huge I was always a huge fan, you know, of Eddie Van Halen.

01:07:15.62
Mike
Sure. Oh, yeah, absolutely.

01:07:16.76
Bill
um I don't I'm not going to say that I don't know music well enough. I know what I like, kind of like what you what you just said, you know, people that are your favorites and what you like.

01:07:22.43
Mike
Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm.

01:07:24.89
Bill
But there are certain songs that I don't um'm give a fuck. I don't have no idea who the guitarist is, but I'll like a, you know, a guitar riff of a song, you know.

01:07:32.75
Mike
Sure. All

01:07:33.42
Bill
may I may not have no idea who the guitarist was. I'm like, I fucking love that.

01:07:37.76
Mike
right.

01:07:39.16
Bill
You know, but I mean, that's the whole point of music, right? You know, to have have these bits and pieces that that you like.

01:07:41.46
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:07:44.25
Bill
So.

01:07:44.70
Mike
Yeah, having art elicit emotions from you. That's the whole point.

01:07:49.27
Bill
Right. Right. Well, I mean, it's it's always amazed me, too, that, um you know, like like over the over the years that I mean, I can I can hear a song that I haven't heard in, you know, literally 30 years.

01:08:02.17
Bill
And I know the words, you know, still, you know, but but I can't remember what I read this morning.

01:08:03.83
Mike
Right. Oh, yeah. Right.

01:08:09.73
Mike
Right.

01:08:11.55
Bill
You know, yeah i but I know what it is. It's, you know, you put something to music and that's it just something in the brain, you know, obviously helps you, helps you. i don't know. It sticks better. I don't know what the, there's gotta to be a, there's scientific or psychological reason for all that stuff, but um I don't know.

01:08:23.92
Mike
he

01:08:25.38
Bill
I don't know what it is, but it is right.

01:08:28.35
Mike
Right.

01:08:31.16
Mike
Right. Thanks.

01:08:31.43
Bill
can't write.

01:08:32.82
Mike
right

01:08:34.13
Bill
All right. So there's one other podcast that I wanted to to mention. I just had the note under here. and I almost forgot about it. So um the name of the podcast and I knew about it, but I randomly again ran across it while I was actually up in Wisconsin.

01:08:49.33
Bill
And I listened to well, I'll explain it first. The name of the podcast is called the it's called the fucking sober podcast, which is kind of fun.

01:08:57.38
Mike
nice

01:08:58.48
Bill
And it's Katie. Her name is Katie Mack. And she, I don't know how she knows Elise at the Sober Curator, but there's, there's an affiliation there.

01:09:07.19
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:09:08.97
Bill
Okay.

01:09:09.07
Mike
Sure.

01:09:09.80
Bill
And um the,

01:09:10.59
Mike
Doesn't Elise know everybody? Okay.

01:09:12.27
Bill
She really fucking does. yeah yeah But, uh, and that's, I, I, I know that that's where I heard about Katie Mac and I heard them talking about this podcast, but what the podcast is, it's a, um, they call it a, a serial or series based podcast.

01:09:29.25
Bill
Okay.

01:09:29.53
Mike
and ky

01:09:30.29
Bill
So it's, um, it's called fucking sober. The first 90 days they've done two seasons. So one season is, I can't remember the first person's name, whatever the the chick's name was.

01:09:41.10
Bill
And then they did a second one was second. Second season was Betsy. Okay.

01:09:44.98
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:09:45.84
Bill
But they start off and it's literally from this this short ah kind of intro, how this person got sober. um And then they go through the the first 90 days. Like episode one will be kind of when they have their revelation. Episode two will be maybe day 30 and then 45 and day whatever.

01:10:02.63
Bill
And then the last episode is the 90 days, but it's not like somebody up there telling a story what it is. It's like watching a, a limited series, like a limited sitcom series type of thing, you know, the mini series on TV, but it's in, it's in a podcast version and it's done really fucking well.

01:10:16.87
Mike
Sure. Okay.

01:10:22.10
Mike
Hmm.

01:10:22.14
Bill
um And I remember Elise talking about it and they won they won an award like this this podcast award thing. And I think that's when Elise was talking about it. They were up with these certain awards.

01:10:34.36
Mike
Hmm.

01:10:34.58
Bill
And um Elise is one of the characters on it.

01:10:37.18
Mike
Yeah.

01:10:37.38
Bill
um She's just like one of the friends in the in the second season. ah One of this Betsy's like old drinking buddy friends.

01:10:44.26
Mike
Hmm.

01:10:44.26
Bill
yeah and so I hear at least start talking to that. She's just she's reminding this chick of what they just say. Yeah, remember this time when you fell down and you broke your face?

01:10:52.85
Mike
hey

01:10:53.93
Bill
And then, you know, you've heard Elise's laugh and then she's just laughing, laughing like, oh, my God, that's fucking hilarious.

01:10:56.43
Mike
Right.

01:10:59.60
Bill
But um I just want to let everyone, you know, if if you have the time, I couldn't, I couldn't stop listening to it. And I was driving, know, I had this driving back and forth and I, I listened to both seasons between um when I was driving back and forth to to Michigan that um Friday.

01:11:06.35
Mike
Hmm.

01:11:16.73
Bill
And then I listened to the entire second season drive between driving down to Appleton and then going home the next day. um I just literally, I couldn't stop listening to it. So,

01:11:27.77
Bill
The other thing I wanted to say is that, number one, it it's produced and it's got characters and voices and it's got the music and all this different shit.

01:11:34.53
Mike
Right.

01:11:34.55
Bill
But it's it's done it's done really fucking well. You want to listen to somebody do a production well in a podcast? Again, I know I keep saying but i was kind of blown away by it.

01:11:40.78
Mike
Right.

01:11:43.78
Bill
um But what they do, though, is um they ask for, you know, they say, hey, if you want to donate, you know, this and that, put out different seasons. I'll tell you what.

01:11:52.57
Mike
Mm hmm.

01:11:53.89
Bill
That's one of the that's the only podcast that I've ever listened to where I'm like, yeah, that would be one. Beg for fucking donations all you want. I can't even imagine the amount of money that they're just spending to do it.

01:12:04.14
Mike
who

01:12:04.21
Bill
um You know, and I mean, part of me still is if you if you want to do this, get advertisers. I don't know why they don't have advertisers.

01:12:11.35
Mike
Right.

01:12:11.51
Bill
um But that's what I would do. I would for that type of product, I would you know go for advertisers. But it didn't bother me about when they were talking about donations. say Hey, if you like what you hear, you know donate. Venmo, PayPal, we've got a website, whatever.

01:12:24.28
Bill
But it wasn't done. They weren't begging for it. Like we can't be on the air if maybe it was just the way that they did it.

01:12:27.48
Mike
Right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.

01:12:31.16
Bill
But also the the product that they were putting out.

01:12:33.48
Mike
Yeah.

01:12:33.80
Bill
um I don't know. what just i I can't say enough good things about it. Plus, there's, a there's ah again, an outskirts affiliation to the Sober Curator, which we're affiliated with. you know So it's kind of it's in our it's in our outside it's in our outside friend group somehow.

01:12:49.12
Mike
Gotcha.

01:12:50.60
Bill
But um I ah tell you, i I might reach out to Elise and see if there might be a way to get her on, Katie, um because she just sounds interesting.

01:12:56.20
Mike
ah Cool.

01:12:59.21
Bill
I don't know what i don't know what she does um like you know for life work and whatever, but um I tell you, it's and she's not the only one doing it.

01:13:04.09
Mike
Right.

01:13:07.46
Bill
She's got a whole team of people with her that does that do it, but it's just it's is worth it.

01:13:09.07
Mike
Right.

01:13:12.15
Mike
Huh.

01:13:12.34
Bill
It's worth the listen. So everyone, look it up.

01:13:15.01
Mike
What's the name of it again?

01:13:16.47
Bill
fucking sober the first 90 days, which again, yeah, great name, great name on top of it.

01:13:17.97
Mike
i right. Cool. Yeah.

01:13:22.11
Bill
So, all right. Um, you know what? I, like I gotta tell you a couple of things about my, my, my grandson last weekend. Um, cause these are just, again, like these promises things that that we, that we talk about.

01:13:33.12
Bill
So, um, first of all, and, um, I, he, he,

01:13:34.11
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:13:39.69
Bill
Brian had said to me the one time, you know, like when he said, oh, he loves you himm like, I know. And he's like, he really loves you. And I mean, I just, I feel it more and more, especially as he's getting older.

01:13:47.40
Mike
Sure.

01:13:47.49
Bill
um And it's, ah it's the most wonderful feeling in the world.

01:13:47.75
Mike
Isn't

01:13:51.36
Bill
Well, you know, and again, you know, um and you know, I mean, I'm not telling you anything you don't know, but I'm just saying just, I get it, you know?

01:13:51.92
Mike
it though? Yes, I do.

01:13:58.45
Bill
Um, I love my kids and my relationship with my kids is beautiful, but this whole grandchild thing, right. It's just, um, I don't know why, but it's different, you know, it's, it's deeper or it's in a different, put in a different category.

01:14:04.87
Mike
Yeah.

01:14:07.44
Mike
Yes.

01:14:11.73
Bill
It's in a different cabinet, whatever you want to call it.

01:14:13.83
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:14:13.81
Bill
It's, it's different, you know?

01:14:15.70
Mike
Right.

01:14:15.83
Bill
And I, I, I'm never, would never say it's better or, or whatever. It's just really different.

01:14:19.63
Mike
Mmm.

01:14:20.19
Bill
It's really fucking cool. you know

01:14:21.52
Mike
Yes.

01:14:22.10
Bill
um But you know when when they showed up, I got to the soccer thing. We went to the soccer practice first on Saturday. And you know he they pull up, and Kimmy had the door opened the driver's door open. I was kind of walking up into the car, and he's in the backseat, of course.

01:14:37.73
Bill
He's like, Grandpa! Yeah.

01:14:39.92
Mike
He, he, he, he, he.

01:14:41.45
Bill
Yeah, just right off the fucking back. It's out of the car and he hugs my leg and stuff right away. um You know, and again, just things that he he's growing into this. He didn't always do that, you know.

01:14:50.19
Mike
Sure.

01:14:50.67
Bill
And still, I'm not saying he's sometimes he he's been crabby world over the last handful of months, but whatever.

01:14:54.51
Mike
Yeah.

01:14:55.15
Bill
um So watch him do a soccer thing and all that stuff. It's so much more focused than he was last year. So again, he's growing up. That's all cool. um His whole potty training thing. I mean, that the kid's completely potty trained, which is fucking mind-blowing now too So

01:15:08.21
Mike
yeah

01:15:08.85
Bill
all the time. You know, i got a pee feeling. I run into that. I got to tell you about story with that too.

01:15:11.89
Mike
Yeah.

01:15:13.33
Bill
When I took out the dogs in the end to go. um But yes, this is okay. Let's step back to that. So, so I, I take out, ah they've got two Labradors and then they have their rescue dog.

01:15:21.10
Mike
Yeah.

01:15:25.37
Bill
um The rescue dog, Hank, um he's a, he's a little rambunctious still.

01:15:25.58
Mike
Right.

01:15:29.02
Bill
um And, but he's a rescue dog is clearly he was abused and, And, you know, he gets a little bit freaked out. He's comfortable with me. But, um you know, Kimmy had said, you know, we can put him in the crate while we're gone. I said, I would just feel more comfortable because I don't want him to get freaked out and react to something.

01:15:44.00
Mike
Right.

01:15:44.05
Bill
You know, I'm like, I'm fine with him, but just let let's let's get a little bit more time under my belt with him. um So then he's cool, you know.

01:15:51.77
Mike
Right.

01:15:52.35
Bill
So, you know, he was in his cage. He's fine. He whined a little bit. But once he got it he was, it is what it is. You know, I did it for him, not for me. But so I took out, they got two big Labradors for anyone.

01:15:59.85
Mike
Right.

01:16:02.76
Bill
Just let everyone else out there know. And they're good dogs.

01:16:04.85
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:16:05.37
Bill
You don't have to put them on a leash or anything like that. But so I'm like, Ollie, I will take the dogs out. Do you want to go with me? And he's like, yeah, put your shoes on, put shoes on. We walk out back and we're standing there and, you know, um there one Labrador, the the brown lab, she just, she likes, you know, kind of poking around and sometimes she'll take, you know, 10 minutes till she pees, you know, just because she can.

01:16:24.02
Mike
the it

01:16:26.47
Bill
So the other dog went to the bathroom, she's dicking around and all a sudden, Ollie's like... I got the pee feeling. So he's trying to open the door. I'm like, okay. I said, go in there. Just give me one second. cause I'm like, I got the fucking dogs out here. i don't think they'll run away, but God damn, I don't need that shit.

01:16:38.41
Mike
Right.

01:16:39.00
Bill
You know?

01:16:39.46
Mike
Right.

01:16:40.05
Bill
So like I run into the bathroom and I, I put them on the toilet. He can get up. He's got steps going up. They got, it's a actual steps going up to the, um The training seat's kind of cool. You know, it's this one piece thing that sits on the toilet.

01:16:49.65
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:16:52.43
Bill
So I'm like, just, I just went, when you're done, I said to stay here, I promise you I'll be right back in. um So I run back out, you know, she goes to the bathroom. I'm start to get her back in and he's at the door. He's like, grandpa, I'm done.

01:17:05.89
Bill
And he's got, you know, he's just, he didn't have a short socks.

01:17:06.25
Mike
okay

01:17:08.60
Bill
He wants, he likes to run around without his, just in his underwear. Cause he wears underwear.

01:17:11.60
Mike
Well, who does? Yeah, everybody does.

01:17:12.62
Bill
I, it's like He's like us. He's like, you know, dude in his 50s now walking around in his underwear.

01:17:18.91
Mike
Right.

01:17:19.31
Bill
um But I open up the door and he's got his underwear. they're They're turned to the side a little bit, pulled up. He's got his T-shirt halfway down his underwear. um But I mean, he's put back together, sort of, you know.

01:17:31.48
Mike
Sure.

01:17:32.53
Bill
um So we walk into the bathroom i like, come on, we got to wash your hands. got to flush the toilet, do whatever. um But he took care of it, you know. But I'm just like, I'm sitting out there. i'm like, which one do I fucking deal with?

01:17:42.94
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:17:43.94
Bill
I'm like, well, if the fucking dogs run away, I guess it is what it is. But um so anyhow, so we, um you know, we're just hanging out there. We're having a good time. um I swear to God, it's they left it. Brian went to work and then Kimmy left a little after, well, about one o'clock. So between like one and by the time we were like, our chill out time was like seven, seven thirty until he went to bed at eight.

01:18:03.58
Bill
So during that six hour period, with the exception of, you know going outside of the take to take the dogs, sitting down for these short stints to watch TV, taking a walk up and then getting dinner and then eating, which that might've been in 45 minutes to an hour total, that part of it.

01:18:18.48
Bill
But other than that, he's like, I want to play in my room. And he's, you know, grab my hand, take it in his room. um We did almost nothing. We're, you know, throwing a ball back and forth. He's playing, he's showing me books or all this different stuff, literally fucking hours in this kid's bedroom.

01:18:29.93
Mike
Yeah.

01:18:30.82
Bill
you know was wonderful. Yeah.

01:18:32.19
Mike
Right.

01:18:33.02
Bill
It was fucking wonderful. And then I'm like, I said, I was getting, I'm just sitting there doing nothing and I was getting kind of tired. I'm like, like, you know, I had, I said, I got to make some coffee. So I went out, made coffee, came out with me.

01:18:44.58
Bill
I brought my coffee back in. He's like, can I bring my water in my room then? So I have my coffee in there. Right.

01:18:50.57
Mike
right

01:18:50.63
Bill
So it's like, yeah. So we put both on the bookshelves and did all that stuff. And then, um, you know, through, throughout the night, um, I put on my, I put on like more comfortable, I've got thinner socks that I kick around with, but I put on more comfortable socks. We walked up to the, uh, to the get dinner.

01:19:05.85
Bill
so we get back and i'm sitting in the other room i said i just just real quick i gotta just take you know take my shoes off and i just want to put my other socks on so i had these darker socks on and i took them off and i've got my bandage on my ankle and i so i took off took off the sock and went to put on the other one and uh he's like he looks at and he's like you've got a boo-boo or he said no he goes do you have a boo-boo and i said i said yes i do and he's like how did you do that

01:19:18.15
Mike
Right.

01:19:33.74
Mike
hey

01:19:34.64
Bill
But he's like, certainly quiet. I said, I said, well, honestly, I said, I fell over a coffee table. He looks at me.

01:19:39.81
Mike
smith

01:19:40.03
Bill
He's like, okay. And he walks out of the room.

01:19:42.48
Mike
a

01:19:44.04
Bill
he But I'm like, yeah, that's that's what I did. I fell over a, fell over a fucking coffee table.

01:19:47.52
Mike
know

01:19:50.26
Bill
But then all said and done.

01:19:51.16
Mike
He's like, yeah, it seems about right. Okay.

01:19:52.78
Bill
yeah Yeah. He's like, he's like, yeah, that tracks, you know, it just fucking walks out.

01:19:56.46
Mike
yeah Exactly.

01:19:57.16
Bill
doesn't barely even, he doesn't know the old me, but he's probably somehow, you know, instinctively he's like, yeah, that, that fucker looks like he'd fall over a coffee table.

01:19:57.36
Mike
Uh-huh. Yeah.

01:20:04.08
Mike
yeah yeah

01:20:06.44
Bill
ah You got that right, kid. um You know, so all said and done, he went to bed fine in his bed. Some Kimmy said that they've been Kimmy Brian were saying they basically give a little trouble sometimes wants to sleep in their bed. um You know, so ah he went fine, went down fine for me. Didn't cry, cried a little bit when Kimmy left.

01:20:20.99
Bill
um But then, you know, two minutes and then he was cool, which usually happens every time he's fine with me with all that stuff, which is that, again, that's comforting, you know.

01:20:23.10
Mike
Right.

01:20:29.22
Mike
Right.

01:20:29.42
Bill
Um, but then when, um, the next morning we were kind of hanging out, do whatever I get cleaned up and I was going to leave. And then, uh, you know, i said, down I said, I, you know, like I got to head out and he's like, yeah, he goes, come on, grab, grab or Kimmy's a grandpa's got to leave. And he's like, no,

01:20:43.22
Mike
a

01:20:44.64
Bill
And then he's like, you know starts to cry a little bit. And Kimmy's holding him. he's like... And I said, i said you know what? I said, a part of me is really, really happy that he's so sad.

01:20:54.70
Mike
Right.

01:20:55.16
Bill
And he's got his head like buried in her shoulder from it. He looks up at me and he gives me the... I mean, gives me that sad lip. He's like...

01:21:03.78
Mike
ah hu

01:21:03.79
Bill
And i said I said, I don't mean that. I said, i'm not I'm not happy that you're sad. I'm like, it's hard to explain. I said, I'm glad you're going to miss me. that's Let me put it that way.

01:21:09.73
Mike
Right.

01:21:10.97
Bill
But it was just it was just so nice. I don't know.

01:21:12.68
Mike
Nice.

01:21:12.77
Bill
It just... All of it, again, ah you you know, and and you've dealt you've dealt with this and obviously got had the privilege of experiencing it.

01:21:17.31
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:21:22.01
Bill
But I don't know. I mean, it just it's ah it it blows my mind. I mean, what what the fuck did we do? I mean, I know what we did. But I mean, really, what what did we do to to deserve that um that love and that admiration and

01:21:35.24
Mike
Right.

01:21:35.48
Bill
You know, um it's just, I don't know. We just, okay, so i just some steps. We read some books.

01:21:42.30
Mike
ah Yeah.

01:21:42.43
Bill
We say some prayers and we got to be nice to people. Ooh.

01:21:46.07
Mike
a

01:21:48.23
Bill
That's, that's fucking it. That's all.

01:21:50.13
Mike
Yeah.

01:21:50.77
Bill
that's That's it.

01:21:50.85
Mike
That's it.

01:21:51.72
Bill
That's all we got to fucking do. And in that, that's what we get back.

01:21:53.18
Mike
Yep.

01:21:54.65
Bill
Really?

01:21:55.38
Mike
Yep.

01:21:55.38
Bill
That's. yeah ah Speaking enough speaking of fucking gratitude. Yeah, let's get back to this list of nasty shit. And, you know, I just made look that list.

01:22:03.67
Mike
Right.

01:22:05.32
Bill
You know, I like that. like that better. But I don't know. I just I can't I can't even put any of this shit into words. It's just it's he you know, he's more than than I can ever just say. don't know.

01:22:15.35
Bill
I just no fucking words.

01:22:15.56
Mike
isn

01:22:17.20
Bill
No words.

01:22:17.76
Mike
Yep. Pretty goddamn nice.

01:22:19.02
Bill
So, oh, it's, it's ridiculous. It's just, it's, it's ridiculous. Oh, real quick. and I just saw this on here. So I listening to a podcast, um, whenever, and they were, they were talking to this chick that was Irish.

01:22:31.09
Bill
So, mean, Irish accent. I mean, obviously we get to listen to with James, which is fun and in itself.

01:22:34.24
Mike
Right?

01:22:35.89
Bill
Um, but she said she was talking about drinking and the fact that, uh, you know, when she got sober and stuff like that, and she's just like, she's like, I just didn't fancy it anymore. Yeah. And I'm like, in my head, I'm like, that just sounds so much nicer than, man, I just, I fucking hated who I was or hated it.

01:22:50.27
Mike
Right? Right?

01:22:51.39
Bill
You know? And I'm like, I'm like, oh yeah. How polite. I just didn't fancy it anymore. Yeah. It just it struck me. just it just hit me the right way. I'm like, that's fucking awesome. I just i really i really like that. so All right. um Two more quick things. and i think that oh did you i well that did you so this I have a side thought in this whole fucking Cracker Barrel stuff. i mean Everyone's obviously...

01:23:16.63
Bill
talking about all that. I'll say one thing to begin with. Um, I don't give a flying fuck if anyone wants to change their logo. I, I didn't, I didn't understand any of it.

01:23:23.12
Mike
right yeah

01:23:25.57
Bill
Um, none of it. I didn't understand the, the, the backlash. I didn't, I didn't understand the pro. I didn't understand the con.

01:23:33.14
Mike
who

01:23:33.27
Bill
I didn't understand people saying that, you know, the, the woke stuff and why are they doing this? And they're, they're anti-weather. They're not enough. This I'm like,

01:23:40.05
Mike
Yes.

01:23:40.93
Bill
It's a goddamn fucking restaurant that just decided to make a change.

01:23:43.14
Mike
Uh-huh.

01:23:44.51
Bill
Look at fucking McDonald's from years ago.

01:23:45.14
Mike
Right. Yeah. Right. Yeah. I know. Yeah. Taco Bell.

01:23:51.75
Bill
A taco, any of it.

01:23:53.28
Mike
Right.

01:23:53.34
Bill
Like, so they, so they made a marketing decision, but then now, you know, obviously now they're going back to their old logo.

01:23:55.59
Mike
Yeah.

01:23:57.76
Bill
I just saw that today.

01:23:57.98
Mike
Uh-huh.

01:23:59.22
Bill
And then, you know what i thought in my head? I'm like, that was fucking genius.

01:24:04.80
Mike
Right.

01:24:04.83
Bill
I mean, when, when is the last time, I mean, well, you and I went to a Cracker Barrel.

01:24:05.13
Mike
Yeah. yeah

01:24:08.96
Bill
We went there with, uh, when we went, uh, in next to our, our homeless shelter, when we were in Kenosha, uh,

01:24:13.07
Mike
Yes, exactly.

01:24:14.97
Bill
um I used to go there with Derek all the time. I love their food. I like the atmosphere. I like it all. There's nothing, nothing.

01:24:19.25
Mike
Yeah, yeah, it's...

01:24:19.87
Bill
think I don't have a bad thing ever.

01:24:21.81
Mike
It's... Right, yeah, it's fine.

01:24:24.13
Bill
Yeah. Nothing ever good, bad, or indifferent to say about Cracker Barrel. But when's the last time you heard about them?

01:24:27.32
Mike
Yeah.

01:24:30.16
Bill
I mean, outside of just knowing if people know what Cracker Barrel is, right?

01:24:33.44
Mike
Right, yeah, exactly. Yeah, nobody talks about them. Right. Although I did hear something lovely the other day. Honky Bucket.

01:24:43.49
Mike
yeah

01:24:45.02
Bill
Yeah. Well, that was the other thing that was brought up. And I never, I swear to God, I swear to God, I never thought about the word cracker in there, you know?

01:24:53.92
Mike
yeah

01:24:54.33
Bill
Um, and you know, and on top of that, I suppose if anything, we should be offended by that.

01:25:00.05
Mike
Right.

01:25:00.06
Bill
Right. I mean, we are the epitome. We're, you know, we're mid fifties on the, I mean, on the upper edge of the Gen X. So we're, you know, we're, we're just drippings of, you know, the boomer age, you know, and I mean, we should be offended by the term cracker.

01:25:10.37
Mike
Right.

01:25:13.09
Bill
I don't give a fuck.

01:25:13.89
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:25:14.43
Bill
Somebody wants to come up and call me a goddamn cracker. I'm like, what's up, dude? I don't care.

01:25:18.77
Mike
Right.

01:25:18.79
Bill
i don't I don't fucking care what you want to call me. but So I never even thought about that. So that brought a word that I think maybe a lot of people in every maybe didn't even think about.

01:25:26.91
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:25:27.15
Bill
But on top of that, I'm like, ah you know, this' just some dude sitting next to a goddamn barrel. And the whole point with that, did you read the back?

01:25:32.88
Mike
Right.

01:25:34.29
Bill
I never knew the background behind it. They used to get together and they would play um cards on these like whiskey barrels or whatever they were.

01:25:40.50
Mike
Right.

01:25:41.48
Bill
And thats so they were just workers that did that. And that was the, it was like a tribute to the American worker. or something along those lines.

01:25:47.49
Mike
Sure. Yeah.

01:25:48.64
Bill
It's all it was completely fucking innocent, you know?

01:25:48.86
Mike
Why not? Yeah. Yeah.

01:25:52.39
Bill
But, but then I thought about it, I'm like all said and done. And um I'm like, it's a, it's a big fucking risk to take that they'll bounce back. But I know they will now.

01:26:00.30
Mike
Yeah.

01:26:00.37
Bill
I know they will. um But they, they, their stock dropped by like 30%.

01:26:01.62
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:26:04.79
Bill
I mean like their, their valuation, not their actual money, but valuation is on paper.

01:26:07.39
Mike
Right. Yeah. Yeah.

01:26:08.88
Bill
I mean, it's, but it, their valuation dropped by like $250 million.

01:26:09.81
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:26:11.91
Bill
a Yeah.

01:26:13.84
Mike
Yeah.

01:26:14.04
Bill
um that's a lot

01:26:15.64
Mike
Yeah.

01:26:16.28
Bill
Okay. But to think of that, I mean, you couldn't, you couldn't turn, you couldn't turn on your phone.

01:26:17.60
Mike
Right.

01:26:21.77
Bill
You couldn't go on anything without seeing an article about fucking Cracker Barrel.

01:26:25.45
Mike
Right.

01:26:25.56
Bill
um And then now I see the logos. They're like, Oh, we're coming back. But then now you get all the, all the fucking people on the other side that thought it was this thing. Yes. Go back. Thank God for sticking your hair. It is blah, blah. I'm like,

01:26:37.66
Mike
Right.

01:26:37.90
Bill
Fuck all you, you know, and and I'm thinking this, this CEO that seemed like a fucking moron, you know, that doing this sort of thing, you know, for whatever, I don't think changing the logo is moronic.

01:26:48.55
Bill
um But the fact that she was getting up on this stool, on this pedestal being like, oh, we're, we're now this and we're now changed and whatever. I thought that was moronic, but then God, I really, really um I wonder if they got together and they're like, okay, this is a big fucking risk.

01:27:01.71
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:27:02.94
Bill
Okay. But We're going to get in the news.

01:27:05.95
Mike
Right.

01:27:05.98
Bill
It's going to be big with with the way society is. People are going to go fucking apeshit over this for no goddamn reason because we're not doing anything racist or anti-racist or woke or non-woke or whatever whatever it is.

01:27:10.13
Mike
Yeah. Right. Uh-huh.

01:27:17.15
Bill
We're not doing that, but it's going to be perceived that way and it's going to put us all over all over worldwide news.

01:27:18.67
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.

01:27:24.07
Mike
Yep.

01:27:24.60
Bill
and we're going to lose some money probably, lose some followers, maybe lose some customers even.

01:27:28.41
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:27:28.39
Bill
But then right when they're about to walk away, we're going to put the logo back on.

01:27:32.05
Mike
Right. Sure. Right.

01:27:33.17
Bill
And guess what? They're still going to be talking about it for months and months and months. And everyone's going to everyone's going to celebrate the revival. Because that's what people are now looking at it is.

01:27:40.44
Mike
right

01:27:42.62
Bill
Cracker Barrel has now been reborn type of thing.

01:27:45.19
Mike
sure

01:27:46.24
Bill
And I seriously, I wrote down when I wrote my note, um like I said, Cracker Barrel marketing ploy, genius.

01:27:52.03
Mike
he

01:27:52.43
Bill
yeah And i again, I could be wrong. But I mean, it kind of seems like.

01:27:55.43
Mike
right

01:27:57.98
Mike
yeah

01:28:00.50
Mike
I would not be surprised.

01:28:00.49
Bill
But anyhow. Right. So so what can we do?

01:28:04.77
Mike
ha

01:28:06.79
Bill
Yeah, everyone, we're shutting everything down, man.

01:28:09.22
Mike
Right.

01:28:10.49
Bill
Fuck all of you, man.

01:28:11.66
Mike
Yes.

01:28:12.65
Bill
good And then, yeah, we're just going to come back.

01:28:14.62
Mike
We're going to get drunk and grow up.

01:28:15.40
Bill
Don't do it.

01:28:18.53
Mike
All

01:28:21.27
Bill
don't do it

01:28:23.58
Mike
right, fine. We'll stay sober and be immature.

01:28:26.77
Bill
yeah Exactly. Exactly. So, but yeah, I think that that was the last thing I had. I, I had something on that fucking hiking murder from weeks ago, but the only, the only thing that, that, that I will say on that, that I heard is that um that dude might've they're looking at a couple of, there was at least one murder in Wisconsin in one, a park, like a devil's Lake.

01:28:46.50
Mike
ah herh Nice.

01:28:46.53
Bill
And then I think another area they're thinking that this dude might be involved and might've been like a serial killer type of thing. um So, yeah, I thought about, I'm like, yeah, same thing. It would, but that I, the I think the Wisconsin killing was 2010.

01:28:59.68
Bill
I'm like, I wasn't hiking that anyhow. So I was never, that's never in danger.

01:29:02.37
Mike
Right.

01:29:03.30
Bill
Yeah. But I i'd tell you what, the weird part, didn't think about it until I was i was walking an area of a trailer, or a trailer, an area of one of these trails over the over this past, that's last weekend, and or the weekend before one of the two, and just kind of walking and some dude kind of walking towards me. And just immediately I got this flash. I'm like, oh, fuck.

01:29:23.40
Bill
I'm all by myself in the woods with some dude.

01:29:24.64
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:29:25.79
Bill
But I did. I bought a knife. I bought a fucking knife.

01:29:30.31
Bill
A $10. But you know what? Did you... Did you know, bet you didn't, Smith and makes knife.

01:29:36.88
Mike
right.

01:29:40.92
Mike
What?

01:29:41.74
Bill
smith and wesson makes a knife

01:29:44.40
Mike
um Yeah, I think I did know that.

01:29:47.40
Bill
Well, of course you did. Why wouldn't you? But yeah, I didn't know that.

01:29:49.02
Mike
don't know. Why wouldn't I? Yeah.

01:29:51.39
Bill
So just this little $10 knife, but it's a little, just a little pocket knife. But I'm like, yeah, whatever, you know, fucking moose comes along, you know, seven foot high moose, you know, and something with a little, you know, whatever, three inch blade and

01:29:59.25
Mike
Right.

01:30:01.60
Mike
Stab it in the knuckle.

01:30:04.86
Bill
cut its testicle off.

01:30:08.25
Bill
He just ran behind go thump. You know, that that might put down a bear and a moose, one of the two.

01:30:10.25
Mike
who

01:30:12.50
Bill
I mean, if ah you're going to do anything or if a bear comes at me, if I'm sure...

01:30:12.98
Mike
Right.

01:30:15.47
Mike
Put me down.

01:30:17.37
Bill
Exactly. I actually paid to have mine done.

01:30:20.10
Mike
so ah

01:30:24.63
Bill
But yeah, I don't know. It's like one of those things. up like I don't know. I'm like, yeah what one way or the other, i now have i now have a knife. I suppose it doesn't hurt. Who knows? What if I end up, you know, you see in the movies when people get caught in those leg traps.

01:30:36.41
Mike
Right.

01:30:37.45
Bill
And it's it's one that's got a clip, so it's in it's in my pocket, you know, kind of like on the but one part of my pocket clipped out.

01:30:40.74
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:30:43.09
Bill
So even if I'm upside down, it's not going to fall out.

01:30:45.68
Mike
Yeah.

01:30:45.70
Bill
You know, so now I can take the knife out and cut myself down.

01:30:49.04
Mike
All right.

01:30:49.25
Bill
Now I'm going to die when I fall out of the tree unless I can somehow kind of even think about that.

01:30:51.40
Mike
Sure.

01:30:55.37
Bill
If you were hung up by your ankle, okay? And let's just say if you were able to get to your thing and then again now, okay, now this is called, you know, stomach and core strength. Okay.

01:31:04.56
Mike
Right.

01:31:04.76
Bill
I don't even know if I'd be able to ah god come back up to get to that. I'm like, oh, fuck it. I'm standing here with my knife. I can't even get to the goddamn rope. Or if I do, can I get up far? i got to be able to hold on. Now, can I hold my weight so I don't fall on my head?

01:31:15.59
Mike
Right.

01:31:18.64
Bill
Whatever, man. I have a knife. So anyhow.

01:31:20.57
Mike
Right.

01:31:21.96
Bill
All right. It's fucking late. i know I know it's late. So you know what? We're we're done. I think we're done, right? All

01:31:26.84
Mike
Yes, we are. All

01:31:30.09
Bill
right. Your turn, man.

01:31:31.66
Mike
right. Well, thanks, for everyone, for listening to yet another episode of Sober Not Mature. How's this going to be for a read? Be kind to each other. Be good to each other. go and do something nice for somebody else this week and don't tell anybody you did it.

01:31:45.54
Mike
Now... From the bottom of my heart to the depths of my soul, from the beginning of time to the ends of the earth, always and eternally, fuck you. Now it's that time, kids. It's time for you to fuck off.

01:31:57.99
Mike
Then keep fucking off. Keep fucking off till you get to a gate with a sign on it saying you cannot fuck off fast here. Climb over that gate, dream the impossible dream, and keep fucking off forever.

01:32:09.41
Bill
Thank you, podcast intern Mike. yeah That was best. That was is good.

01:32:15.68
Mike
huh

01:32:15.79
Bill
It was perfect. Perfect for the lead into the to the sponsor, the little commercial thing, whatever, and perfect for that.

01:32:20.96
Mike
o

01:32:21.41
Bill
So nothing could even make anything more more better.

01:32:26.33
Mike
More better? Love you too.

01:32:27.32
Bill
You know what? Fuck it. We're done. All right. I love you, brother.
